《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 13

“Urgh.”
Owen clenched his hands so tightly, they his palms started to bleed. But he didn’t have time to worry about that. It was already so painful he wasn’t even able to scream. As the Essence dug straight into his irises forcefully removing every single colour pigment within his eyes. Although it sounds like an easy matter, the pain was even stronger then when he fell onto the bear.
In fact Owen was currently thinking that he would rather jump off a cliff 10 times the distance falling on top the bear again instead of feeling this. However that was why Kovinth grabbed onto him. Owen wasn’t even able to move a tiny bit of his body and even after closing his eyelids he regretted it immediately, because once he did the pain skyrocketed and was now tearing through his eyelids to get to his eyes. His only option was to hold the pain while keeping his eyes open. This task was as hard as letting a waterfall slam down onto his eyes directly, and adding rocks every once in awhile to increase the pain.
He wasn’t even able to pass out because the moment his body could no longer handle the pain, Kovinth forcefully channeled Essence into his body. He was left with the worst pain or slightly less worst pain. He naturally took the slightly less worst pain as he kept his eyes open. The Essence continued to spiral into his Irises clearly any and all impure substances from his eyes. The feeling of burning invaded into his eyes rushing through his entire body.
After a few minutes of pain, it finally ended. Kovinth lightly laid Owen down. As he was finally able to pass out. Kovinth didn’t move and only took the chair in the room and sat down. Patiently watching Owen and softly muttered.

“You did good.”
---------------------
As Owen woke up he consciously blinked his eyes because the immense pain he was feeling. But there as soon as he opened them he was blinded by light. He had never experienced such a thing before and closed them right after. Seeing him wake up Kovinth spoke lightly to him while smiling.
“Don’t get too used to it.”
“Master?”
“Quickly open your eyes.”
Owen did as he was told and opened his eyes, although he was blinded by the light again he refused to give up and continued until finally he was able to get used to the light. But he was dumbfounded by the result. He was staring at Kovinth. He was literally using his own two eyes to look at the big burly man in front of him. He noticed that Konvith had black sharp hair and was wearing a black robe. Although he knew these were colours he couldn’t actually describe them himself. How could he? After all Owen had never until this moment been able to see. Now suddenly he could see it was like an entirely new world for him. Owen didn’t know when, but his hands started to touch the top of his cheekbones. He was actually afraid that if he touched his eyes at this moment he would cause him to become blind again. And knowing it wasn’t a dream tears started to well up in the side of his eyes. Although he was calm by nature, although his will was as hard as steel. Although he was never jealous of others that he could see. It didn’t change the fact that being able to see was a lot better than being blind. He enjoyed that dark world because he didn’t know what he was missing.

“Master… I can see?”
Naturally Owen was happy. He simply couldn’t hold back his feelings. He was truthful to his emotions and this was something he would never be ashamed about. But unfortunately, for some reason even though he was happy, when he momentarily calmed down he was able to feel that something was off. As he Kovinth noticed his slight confusion he answered him.
“That’s right. It’s only temporary. Although you can see now, that is only because I am blocking the Essence from leaving your body.”
Owen already figured out on his own that Essence was what allowed them to walk the Path. But he didn’t know much about it so he decided to patiently wait for Kovinth to continue.
“For me to teach you everything, I need you to be able to see. However in order for you to train in the Solar Eyes you must not be able to see. The moment you open your eyes, because you are too weak all the Essence you’ve gathered will be lost. Although I say all, it will only be that of the level you’re currently on.”
“Master, I am not too sure about the changes of this world can you teach me?”
Owen wasn’t too heartbroken. Although he wouldn’t be able to see after he left, from the way his master worded it, he was sure that he would be able to see one day. With just this alone, Owen had a goal. Although he wanted to become a god, he was much more interested in being able to see. Until that moment nothing else mattered and he would train for that one goal alone. But right now he was truly to ignorant of the world and could only ask for Kovinth to teach him.
“Haha! Boy, this is why I have waited millions of years just for you. You are truly strong willed. Immediately after realising you would be blind again, you didn’t panic. Instead you pieced together that you would be able to see when you became stronger. That’s right, if you become stronger you can regain your sight.”
Kovinth roared with laughter as he anxiously prepared himself. He had wanted to say more, however it was still too early. Although Owen looked like he had the mindset and heart of a Pathwalker. He did not know what would happen in the future.
