《Flame-Eyed Immortal》Chapter 29

Owen then remembered his purpose and rushed forth towards the attacking Feral. The boy was struggling holding off the attack of the Feral. To Owen’s surprise the Feral wasn’t using any form of a weapon and was attacking only with his body. The boy on the other hand was holding sword. But this sword was strange, as it the boy was hoping it like it was a whip. It was the first time Owen had seen this type of weapon. Although it wasn’t like he saw it, but saw the Essence wrapped around it.
The most important aspect of using Essence at the early level of Pathwalkers was being able to wrap your weapon up with it. If the weapon wasn’t shielded with Essence it would shatter upon contact with another weapon. That was at the very least for weapons that were made by mortals. As for weapons made from gods, they naturally had their own Essence imbued inside of them. These were more commonly known as Essence Weapons, from what he heard from Kovinth. But even the gods weren’t allowed to give their disciples Essence weapons and could only give them mortal weapons. As such this boy’s sword went by the name of Snake Sword.
The boy while waiting for Owen to help him was gripping the ropes in between the blades of the sword. As his gripped tightened to hold off the Feral, that held no regards for its own safety, the blades started to tear into his skin. His face started to contort as the pain spread through his arm. He couldn’t help curse in his mind. But luckily just then Owen arrived and slashed the arm of the Feral. Owen expected for the arm to be cut off, but instead it was like slashing against a rock or another weapon. As they collided the Feral’s arm was knocked away.

It was only at this moment that the Feral seemed to have noticed Owen’s presence. It stared at him with his dark red eyes. It looked lifeless, but it still contained instinct and noticing that it was now no longer a one on one fight it started to run away with its injured arm.
Catching his breath the boy started to calm himself. He looked towards Owen and Owen faced towards him feeling he was about to thank him Owen prepared his response. But the moment he opened his mouth Owen’s expectations were blown away.
“Ah! I can’t stand it anymore! I just want to get the fuck outta here and sleep.”
The boy started to throw a tantrum as he kicked some shrubs and started to walk away completely ignoring Owen at that point. When Owen recovered the boy had already left and he thought to himself.
‘Who raised that kid?’
But the moment he thought he saw the boy come back.
“Are you coming or what?”
“For what might I ask?”
Owen asked curiously to the boys angered face. He didn’t want to anger him anymore than he already was. Although Owen helped him, there was no guarantee he couldn’t handle it himself. Owen also wasn’t going to ask for compensation for just helping someone. It was just a natural thing to do. At the same time the boy responded.
“To the Pavilion of course. I imagine you’re a god’s child right?”
The boy’s expression started to loosen. Owen could tell that this was the boy’s way of expressing his thanks. But upon hearing the second part of the sentence he curiously put his finger to his chin thinking what that meant. Seeing this, the boy kneaded his temples while muttering.
“This guy doesn’t know anything…”

But he shrugged as if it didn’t really matter and explained.
“The people who are taken as disciples of the gods, you’re one right? I can tell….. As you don’t know anything.”
The boy mumbled the last bit of the words forcefully as if he had to hold himself back from saying it out loud. Owen heard the last words of the boy and thought that this boy was pretty interesting but he wasn’t offended and only nodded. After Owen finally felt he could introduce himself.
“My name is Owen. How about yourself?”
“My name is Rauf. Don’t mind my attitude, lately I’ve been a little stressed.”
‘A little?’
Owen chuckled inside hearing these words, but feeling that there was no need to dislike Rauf he asked another question.
“Rauf, would you mind explaining to me about those Ferals?”
Rauf rolled his eyes at this question. He wasn’t an idiot and knew this question was going to come up he prepared himself but it still felt annoying to actually hear it. He clicked his tongue before reluctantly speaking.
“They become mindless Pathwalkers, left with only instinct. They can still walk their Path, however they become closer to Devourers, but instead they hunt for other Pathwalkers.”
Owen nodded. Although he didn’t show it inwardly he was surprised.
‘They can still be Pathwalkers? They hunt other Pathwalkers? If their bodies are that strong they would not be an easy enemy to defeat. Especially that they don’t rely on human emotions and only attack based on instinct.’
After thinking it through it was indeed quite terrifying. Ferals that could use their own bodies to attack and had no emotions were like killing machines. They would not care about a single part of their body if it meant killing their target.

Red Wheat
Skylar Kylee Wintersong was born an Indigo Child. Celebrated by her parents, who ensured that she suffered no restrictions that might hinder her powers, ability or genius, she has grown up knowing that she was a member of the elite, born to rule and guide. However, the cruel whims of beings who are Gods have intervened, and not only dropped Skylar in a savage reality of magic, muscle, steel, and blood, but granted her all the powers she thought she was entitled to. Her knowledge that she's been born to rule and guide, that she was a chosen one, has been made real, with all the terrible burden that entails. How will a 21st Century Earth girl survive on the Six Worlds of Shtar? A place known as "The War Worlds." The entire thing is somewhat tongue in cheek, fun high fantasy with a touch of satire. Rather than adding in likable and relatable characters, the three Earthlings are supposed to be caricatures and somewhat satirical, as I was making fun of the type of fantasy that was being spit out all over the place at the time I wrote this about a decade ago. It is currently unfinished and on hiatus.
