《Philippine Lore》BK1; Chapter 13:[ Is this SARCASM? ]

“Have a taste.” Louise said confidently.
The aromas woke up Rain’s appetite. He didn’t say anything, grabbed his spoon and began eating. Although he doesn’t want to admit it but Louise truly was a good cook.
“Yes, it’s delicious.”
“Really? Thank you.”
Seeing Rain’s satisfied expression, Louise replied happily. Intrigued Rain looked back. Louise’s cheeks were slightly red and accompanied by a big smile.
For a moment, he was captured by that smile, so he averted his gaze in a rush.
What a lethal weapon. Rain couldn’t help but be amazed.
Louise was really a beautiful girl. Back in high school, she was very popular, however for some reason; she always rejected those boys who confessed to her. Although those boys included popular and handsome men.
She must’ve high standards~
Ring, ring, ring. Louise’s phone rang. She turned her head sideways to Rain and smiled. Then she picked it up with a smile, “Hello, mom.”
On the other side, Louise’s mom said, “Are you asleep yet?”
Louise said, “Not yet. How is Aunte?”
“She’s fine.” Louise’s mom answered, “How’s life there? Are you living well with Rain?”
Louise smiled, “Yep. We were just eating right now. You want to speak to him?”
“Nah, its fine, I’m going to hang up soon anyway; I just want to check up the both of you.”
“Okay.”
“Anyway, I want to ask you when are you returning home this year.”
Louise pointed at the Chicken adobo, motioning for Rain to try that dish. She then said into the phone. “Hm, I think we both plan to visit before the first day of April.”
“Oh, then I am going back earlier than you… Alright, I’m going now. See you there; ah right congratulations for your graduation. And please pass my congratulations to Rain as well.”
“No problem. Take care mom.”
“Hm, you too. Take care of Rain okay.”
After hanging up, Louise smiled at Rain and began eating as well.
“How’s auntie?”
“She’s good. She wanted me to pass her congratulation to you.”
“Hm…”
Suddenly, Louise held out her hand and put a piece of meat in front of Rain’s mouth. “Try this.”

Rain ate the piece of meat Louise fed him.
“You tried the game, right? How is it?”
“It’s amazing.”
“Haha, I know you will say that.” Louise ate a spoonful of soup.
“But it’s really too hard and the game was just too real. I almost fainted from fear when a giant boar rushed towards me.”
Seeing her dejected expression because of the game, Rain, for some reason couldn’t help but grin in joy. Haha, I’m still better.
When Louise saw Rain’s smug face, she couldn’t help but feel wronged. “Hey, why are you grinning like an idiot? Did I say something funny?”
“Nope.”
“Then why?”
“It’s nothing.”
Louise licked the oil in her lips and pouted: “Hmph, idiot. Anyway, how about you?”
“I’m doing fine. I’ve already reached Level 1.”
Louise stopped her hand in mid-air. He face was shocked and her mouth was gaped, “No way.”
“Yes way.” Rain rubbed his nose, embarrassed by her reaction.
“Do you know how hard it is to level up!? Wait, don’t tell me … you killed a monster?!”
“Yeah, some smelly wolves.”
“Oh my god!! Rain, you … you’re not joking right?! You actually killed a monster. What’s you’re class?”
Louise looked at Rain with shock.
She really didn’t expect Rain to kill a monster at this early stage. She knows how sadistic this game was and most importantly she already experienced the horror in entering that scary forest.
She really didn’t expect for someone to level up and immediately killed a monster.
How did Rain achieve this thing?
It must be his class … right? But all the standards class was all the same. Too weak, then … how?
“A mage.” Rain answered nonchalantly.
“Im … impossible. No, wait tell me, you didn’t cheat right?”
By cheat, Rain knows what Louise was talking about. Louise had long since known that Rain was a hacker and was an amazing one at that.
It’s understandable that she would suspect. So knowing that, Rain didn’t get mad and instead gently answered.
“Of course I didn’t. You should’ve known that [ Philippine Lore ]’s system is almost impossible to breach.”

“But, mage is just too weak at this point of time. You should haven’t …”
Rain nodded and smiled, saying, “What can I say, I’m a talented man~”
“Keep bragging~”
Seeing her childhood friend’s smug look, Louise couldn’t help but shake his head and smiled wryly. The dimples on her face never look this cute.
--- ---
It was very late.
Other households were slowly switching off their lights.
After eating dinner, Rain lay on his bed and began to brag, “Louise, you may not know, inside the game I was amazing. Did you know how formidable I was? Eh? In the beginning, I was haphazardly swinging my small dagger but
then I suddenly got a power up and mowed my enemies down. Those little smelly wolves couldn’t even touch me …
haha, I really can’t help but be scared of how talented I am!”
Louise found her childhood friend annoying so she playfully smacked him in his head, “Stop bragging.”
She then pushed the cabinet door open and began to keep Rain’s newly washed clothes inside; hanging them up, and those that could not be hung up were neatly folded.
Currently, she was wearing a very homelike sportswear. It looked old on her, and the colors did not look good. It was probably her old clothes but for some reason, it still given her a tremendous boost in charm. The old dress seemed to be still beautiful at this moment.
Really, they might say ‘Clothes make the man’ but sometimes, ‘Woman makes the clothes.’
“I’m sweaty. I’ll take a shower.” After organizing Rain’s cabinet, she went into the bathroom and closed the door.
“You have your own room, right? Go take a shower in your room not mine.”
“It’s fine. I’m too lazy to climb upstairs, besides I’m already here anyway … what, don’t tell me, you’re embarrassed?”
“I’m still a man, you know.”
“Doesn’t matter. We’ve already taken a bath together.”
“That story is over 10 years old!”
“Come on! If it’s with you, then I’m certainly safe. I could even bet that you do not even dare to take advantage of a girl who was sleeping next to you. Being next to you is very, very safe!”
This #%$$%@@! Is this SARCASM?
Rain could hear a small giggle inside the bathroom. Shaking his head, he pulled the blanket on his body and pouted.
Louise would sometimes take a bath inside his room and there was even a time where she would just walk around the room with nothing but underwear. She really acts as if this was her own room.
Although Rain would always reprimand her behavior but she was just too stubborn and so he couldn’t do anything but ignore it.
A moment later, the sound of flowing water could be heard. Maybe she was feeling the comfort of showering, which resulted in the whistling sounds of Louise coming out of the bathroom.
A while later, the fragrance of roses and flowers that could make bees drool, could be smelled from inside the bath.
Rain couldn’t help but took in a few delightful breaths of the fragrance.
Then, clang!
Louise had finished her shower and, seeing that Rain was still awake, she looked at him, “Not going to sleep?”
Rain gave a wry smile, “If I fall asleep while a beautiful woman is taking a bath next door ... then I’m not a man.”
“Stop flattering me.”
“No I’m not.”
After smiling mischievously, she added on, “Alright, I’m not going to care about you. I’m tired, so I’ll sleep first.”
“Then go, lock the door when you leave.”
“What are you saying?
Without a word Louise walked towards the bed. Still wearing a mischievous smile she tightened the towel on her body, went to the other side of the bed and slipped into it. Then she turned with her back facing him, “Good night.”
Holy sh*t! Seeing this unexpected development, Rain cursed inwardly.
“Why are you sleeping here?! And wear damn clothes properly!”
“Don’t be noisy, I’m tired.”
WHAT IS THIS PERSON SAYING!!?

Alex and Julius, a pair of brothers, try their best to make it in a North America reshaped by an eldritch apocalypse. “Stop right there Philip!” Julius interrupted, the vein on his temple starting to throb. “I do not want to hear another simile about what magic is. The human unconsciousness, powerful and unknowable. A body, you don't want to eat the heart straight away. I am sick and tired of people telling me what magic is. I know damn well what it is.” He drew a breath, interrupting his rant. “Magic is a bad joke. A whole lot of setup, for some nonsense punchline. This whole god-damned apocalypse is an eldritch comedy.”
