《Philippine Lore》BK1; Chapter 25: [ Intruder ? ]

To add its exotic appearance, Rain made it a set item.
He also created a mask by using his old friend’s skull, and some wrist, knee and leg guards using its bones like claws and limbs together with some wolf’s pelt.
The ‘basic form’ knee, leg and wrist guards that looked like ninja hand claws because of the wolf’s claws were finally complete.
Although it only appeared as if Rain was only attaching a complete wolf skeleton on his body when he was wearing it but it was still good in his eyes. Especially when looking at the reflection of his figure after equipping the Wolf’s skull mask that he made to fit his head, he thought that he might look quite cool.
Looking at his own masterpiece, Rain felt quite satisfied.
Although it was easy to think that it was crude due to being a product of a simple work, but the armor as well as the protectors that Rain made were created to fit him, so it looked quite, considerably good.
At this moment, a ‘Ding!’ sound echoed in his ears.
[ Congratulations! You have made a Set Item! ]
[ Please choose a name! ]
Oh so, there’s also something like this?
Mm, anyway a name…
Bone armor? No, too ordinary… AH!
“Please name it; The Big Bad Wolf’s End!”
[ Would you like to name it [ The Big Bad Wolf’s End ]? ]
“Yes.”
[ Congratulations! You have successfully named the Set Item. You are the first person to create a Grade D Set Item in the entire server; do you want to disclose your identity? ]
Grade D Set Item. In [ Philippine Lore ], items made by players were graded from E to SSS, of course SSS being a godlike item.
Having created a D set item in this early stage was almost a miracle as it was a Set Item and not merely an ordinary item. As for the Set Items, it couldn’t be said anymore as it would really be difficult to make it. One would need to make sure that the other items would commend the other items.
But Rain didn’t realize this point and only thought it as an inferior grade and so he only answered ‘Whatever’.
Ding!
[ Congratulations! Player [ Lagim ] has created a Grade D Set Item! ]
Currently, the whole server was chaotic but obviously, Rain didn’t notice that.
[ A great armor! You have completed the Set Item [ The Big Bad Wolf’s End ]. As the materials used to make it held some deep emotion serving as a connection with the creator it was given a skill! ]
What’s this? A deep emotion? Connection? I mean, did that wolf really see him as a friend? Rain at this moment was overjoyed. Who would not? It was a free skill after all!

However, as soon as he saw the skill description, Rain’s face couldn’t help but twitch.
[ Set Item Bonus Skill; [ Anger of Deep Hatred ]! ]
Just by the name of the skill, Rain had immediately guessed what his and the Big Bad Wolf’s connection…
Haa~ This wolf isn’t a cute at all.
[ Anger of Deep Hatred ]!
A flame type skill that would let the user cast a black colored flame and shot it towards the enemy. This black colored flame was considered a cursed flame and will burn the enemy slowly, giving the enemy great pain. The greater the user’s hatred, the stronger the flame that can be fired off.
I repeat, this wolf certainly isn’t cute at all.
So it really hated me to the bone? Did I kill his family or something?
Rain complained inwardly while forgetting the fact that he really killed several of its kin.
Oh well, this skill is amazing and now it’s mine. Big Bad Wolf, take care in heaven~
Rain really didn’t expect to create something as good as this. Looking at his creation, for some unknown reason, Rain could faintly feel that the bone armor emitted some warmth.
Once again, Rain gently caressed it with his palm when his expression suddenly changed. In a flash, he withdrew his hand and appalled, he hoarsely said, “What was that?”
Rain possessed an amazing skill; [ Hyper Intuition ] that was extremely outstanding and could be considered as a sixth sense. When he was touching the bone armor, he could distinctly sense a dangerous, brutal and berserk feeling was hidden within the bones.
Don’t tell me, the Big Bad Wolf’s anger towards me was deeply engraved within its bones?
That couldn’t be!
Sadly, he didn’t have any appraisal type skill and so, he could not appraise and see the armor’s details.
When he touched it again, he couldn’t feel anything anymore and so, he brushes it off as an illusion. Anyway, I was already satisfied in creating this armor~
— —
The night gradually darkened.
Rain was quietly immersed in his work that he had already forgotten about time. After successfully making the [ Big Bad Wolf’s End ] Set Item, he seemed to have gotten some encouragement from the previous success.
Because he had hunted several monsters these past few days, there were many materials waiting for him to work on them!
From creating the [ Big Bad Wolf’s End ] Rain had found some tricks in making some useful items, so counting just the form creation, it took a third of the time compared to the first time he made it. Then by basing it on the ideas inside accumulated by his rich imagination, he created several works.
Although it’s unfortunate that other than the [ Big Bad Wolf’s End ] Set Item, the other created items were not as good as expected. For some reason, he couldn’t create anymore Set Items and most importantly, the following items were only Grade E.

However, Rain wasn’t discouraged and continued working as a means of practice. Even while receiving the giant spider’s strange gazes, Rain immersed himself again in his works.
Whether you can call it fortunate or unfortunate, but all humans had something called ‘Talent’. According to the presence or absence of this talent; there were people who wouldn’t be able to achieve something no matter how much effort they put into it; and there were people who would achieve a world record by just trying once; and lastly there were also people who achieved as much as they put into it.
Just like Rain; who no matter what happens will do anything he could do to do something he wanted to do. Was it because of talent?
There were people who once said that; ‘Human beings were based on God’s image that is why they possessed unbelievable possibilities!’ As long as they put their will, time and effort to it, anything is possible no matter how long it takes.
Rain was in no way a genius that mastered a technique by just trying once. However, as he steadily put more effort, his ability was increasing. Slowly, but never stopping.
Even man reached the moon, without wings could fly in boundless skies and can even cross oceans. Human beings possessed endless possibilities.
— —
Just when Rain was about to put the monster bones and leather together, he suddenly sensed a peculiar feeling.
He immediately put away what he was holding and looked at his surrounding with alertness.
A strong wind blew through the entrance of the cave.
“Who’s there?” Rain coldly barked as he peered outside. It was dark out there, without the shadow of a single person.
Rain suddenly sensed imminent danger. Although it was currently raining outside and was normal for it to blow some strong cold wind and gale but… for some reason, Rain felt his skin tingling.
Fear flooded his insides causing him to get restless.
So if this wasn’t a normal cold wind, then it only meant one thing…
But he couldn’t see anyone outside, nor could he sense the trace of anyone nearby. If he wasn’t mistaken then this proved that the other party possessed strength that far surpassed his own.
He had no idea where the other party was hiding themselves but he needs to prepare himself immediately.
Just what is happening here?
Could it be…?
Was there a monster capable of stealth? But why go inside this cave? Besides, how strong could the monster be to be able to erase its presence completely!?
Rain raised his perceptions to its limits, with his senses on full alert. But he still couldn’t sense the other party’s presence!
Traces of sweat beaded on Rain’s forehead. He was already almost Lv5 and by his class as a Mage, he should have sense the slightest movement of anything as long as it used mana within 10 meters of himself, even if his opponent was at a higher level. However, the other party could still manage to conceal themselves from his perception!
What does this means?
That meant that his opponent right now had higher level than him; worst, a higher existence!
He couldn’t sense the other party’s presence. However, thanks to his skill; [ Hyper Intuition ], he felt a strong sense of danger.
Rain slowed down his breathing and coldly swept his eyes over his surroundings. As long as the other party struck first, he would definitely return with a counterattack!
In addition, he wasn’t alone…
Looking around, Rain tried to find the giant spider but for some reason it was gone.
What happened? Don’t tell me something happened to Sister Spider?
“Ho… you actually detected my presence, not bad~”
Just as Rain was at a loss with this matter, suddenly, a feminine voice echoed inside the dim cave. Her voice was sharp and carried traces of seductiveness.
“Who are you?!”
“Hm, you can certainly feel my presence…no, it seems like you’re only relying on your instinct. Am I right?”
What-?! What’s this? I couldn’t feel even a little bit of intent? Just how high is her stealth?
“A bestial—no, calling it a bestial instinct is wrong. Is that the innate skill of every hero?”
“!?”
“However, it’s useless. Just relying by instinct you wouldn’t be able to see me. Your sight, your hearing and even your sense of smell is not working… that is why you can’t see me.”
“That’s not fair! Show yourself!” Rain hurriedly looked around the whole place nervously, but he couldn’t see anyone at all.
“Huhuhu, it’s useless. Even if you try to guess my position from my voice, you still won’t be able to catch me. This is my domain. Even if you are a hero, you are still a human. If light was robbed, you won’t be able to do anything but fear the darkness.”
Hearing those words, Rain felt cold sweat running down his back. What should he do? No, what can he do?
Tsk! I don’t have a choice; I need to use my magic now!
For Rain, his ability to use magic was one of his trump cards. No one would expect that he could use magic when he looked like a warrior. But it seems like his current enemy for some reason knows him and so, not using it would only be detrimental.
Just as he cast his fire magic, he once again heard the voice behind him accompanied with the sound of applause, “Oh, not that one~”
Then he felt an invisible energy locked into him.

A Fate Shaped by Magick
This fiction was (and is) published on fanfiction dot net under the same title; though as I slowly transfer it to here, I am editing and smoothing it. This story takes place in the Elder Scrolls (TES) Universe mostly ending up in Morrowind. This is a slice of life meant to answer the questions of how (in the TES universe) do mages study and learn, and exploring some of the in-game differences between TES 2 and 3. This book has minimal spoilers for the Morrowind main quest and does not fully explore it. If you think that giant insects would make cool pets - if you like the idea of exploring magic NOT intended simply as killing something better, faster or more gore-ridden, then come on in and enjoy.
