《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 22: The night after the banquet

“Hmm hmm hmmmmm” Burning Rose happily hummed as she skipped along the streets toward the Magical institute.
After utterly humiliating and destroying the blonde man’s reputation her mood livened up a lot. She may have not eaten the Heart of the Goddess, but seeing the man getting torn apart by that old man and the judging look of the nobles, gave her a satisfaction that is almost as sweet.
The old man with her however could only sigh in disapproval over what has transpired during the banquet. He wanted to reprimand her but she will just ignore his words. Though he knew deep inside her current attitude and behaviour is partly his fault.
Burning Rose, despite her very beautiful looking outer shell, was very petty and childish on the inside. She’s headstrong and will do whatever she wants and will not care for anyone else’s opinion; except when it comes to magic.
Magic seems to have this grip on Burning Rose that transforms her childish and petty normal state into a hard working woman. There seems to be a great disparity between the Burning Rose inside the chambers of Dawnward and the Burning Rose outside of the institute. This passion for magic is what opted him to take her in an apprentice in the first place.
Still, he at least had to try and correct Burning Rose, even though he knew he was just wasting his time.
“Scholar, you do realize what you did back there was wrong right? You humiliated that man over a flower”
“It’s not just a flower; it’s THE heart of the Goddess. Plus I was destined to eat that seeing that it was the last one on the plate with nobles walking about.” Burning Rose said trying to justify her actions.
“Also, while you were day dreaming about food, I actually paid attention to the King’s speech and the blonde man whose social standing you ruined, happened to be an Outsider”

“EVEN BETTER” Cried Burning Rose.
As he expected, he was just wasting his time trying to scold her. It used to have an effect when she was younger, but now even if he tried to get angry, she would most likely just laugh at her.
“What a troublesome girl”
“Still, Burning Rose” Silver Eye said in a serious tone which caught Burning Rose by surprise.
“Remember that every action we do, whether good or bad, will have an equal consequence.” Silver eye said.
“And the worst part is that we will never know when fate strike and deliver us our just deserts”
“Hmmph I’m not worried” Burning Rose immediately retorted
“After all, it’s not like I’m going to see him again”

Today was just not Karl’s day. Not only did he get humiliated at the Banquet he was also scolded by Nelson. Thankfully since nothing much came out of the incident, aside from his shattered pride, he was let off the hook with just a few painful insults and threats.
When the Banquet ended, the delegation were then lead to their individual rooms that were prepared in advance by the King. Each one of them were given very spacious and regal looking rooms. Each room had a large soft bed with bedding made from delicate fabric that looked like it was made from cotton yet felt like it was made of silk. Nelson was very interested in the fabric and reminded himself to ask the King about it during the negotiations.
Surprisingly the rooms also had their own bathroom and toilet which surprised Yamato. He never expected a water delivery system to be in place in the castle since Nelithea looked like it was still in the medieval ages with its swords and knights and what not, but the presence of magic did have some sort of effect, at least in the engineering side of things. The toilet was different though because instead of flushing the contents down, it incinerated it. Yamato thought this was a safety hazard and wanted to scold whoever designed this “toilet”.

When everyone settled into their individual rooms Karl was obviously not in the mood to sleep just yet. He was still quite angry about what happed, but at the same time he was planning on what he should ask of the King.
He was considering two options.
Option 1: Ask for books that detailed the use of magic, whether it was ancient books or the more recent ones it didn’t matter.
Option 2: Ask if he could hire high level sorcerers from Dawnward.
He knew that the King might reject him outright since Magic is their weapon. The King allowing him to research magic would be like giving your (potential) enemy some sensitive information which they could use to destroy her. Karl knew that he had to convince the King that he had no ulterior motives, that his research would benefit both Aleria and Earth. If he manages to discover the hidden rules of Magic then he was sure both worlds will gain unprecedented leaps in technology. The marriage of science and magic would bring about a new golden age for mankind, and he stood at the precipice of it.
“I have to do this, whoo I have to do this” Karl was chanting to himself over and over again as if mentally preparing for tomorrow’s “battle”
“This is it Karl, the moment you have been waiting for. If you fail, you will be stuck with the adventurers in Larien and will most likely not learn anything making everything a waste of time and money resources-” Karl then stopped himself before he gets himself down.
He realized it was getting late so he slid into the cozy bed and prepared to sleep, then he remembered the red haired woman again
“Ugh, that damn woman. I still can’t believe she did all that just for revenge over a flower. Still the flower was very delicious” Karl thought to himself
He wanted to think about revenge but he erased these thoughts off his mind. He was never the type person to hold a grudge for a very long time, except for a few exceptions. In the end he just decided to forget about and move on
“I probably won’t see her again, so why bother?”

“F bzzt ther, w-w-w-ww-we, l bzzt ve you father”
“T----t bzzt nk yyyyyyyy-you for e---bzztvry t-t-thing”
“Agatha! Leo!”
*GASP*
Nelson was suddenly woken up again by his recurring dreams, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he gasped for air obviously disturbed by his dreams.
“Not good, I should get some rest for tomorrow”
Knowing that he would have a hard time sleeping again because of his sudden awakening, he had no choice but to go get his sleeping cure again.
He got up and opened his luggage and took out a wooden box with golden engravings that contained a whisky bottle and a drinking glass. He then proceeded to give himself a small amount of whisky that he drank straight up.
He then looked at the bottle with eyes of remorse and guilt.
“I should stop doing this” Nelson said as he cleaned the drinking glass and returned the whisky back inside the wooden box
