《Ambassadors to another world》Chapter 41: Familiarity

As one would expect, Alice drew the attention of everyone Karl and Silver Eye passed on their way to Dawnward. All of them, whether they were a child or an elderly person, had the same stupefied expression brought about by this strange 4 legged metal thing. It doesn’t help that Alice herself looked back at the locals examining them as they went along.
Alice looked so out of place even more so than Karl that he couldn’t help but laugh. He always imagined that in the event of aliens visiting the earth, humanity would be dumbfounded by whatever tech they had, he never expected that he would be that alien carrying with him advanced technology.
“Well, I believe that if aliens back in our universe arrived on Earth we would just be as mystified as these people” Karl thought to himself
Now that he was walking on the streets of Lancia Karl had gained a better feel of the city. Karl got to immerse himself in this high fantasy setting that people used to dream of. Armored knights walking around, fruit and vegetable stands selling unfamiliar commodities etc. Although he is a bit surprised on just how alive the city felt, it was almost comparable to any random small city on Earth.
Still when compared to Berlin, or any major city for that matter, it still felt more relaxed. Mostly because the cars were all replaced by animal drawn carts and aren’t piled up in heavy traffic. No blaring horns, no angry road ragers, no stress.
Karl took a deep breath and let himself get taken by the atmosphere. He was half wishing he had a dice now and wanted to roll on whatever he wanted to do next as a wide smile formed on his face.
“You seem to be in a good mood young man” Silver Eye noticing Karl’s grin
“Do I? Sorry, walking around here on the streets gave me a feeling of awe and nostalgia” Karl replied

“Nostalgia?”
“Well you see back on Earth your world only existed in our imaginations. Magic, fantastical creatures, even dragons, never existed there and were forever doomed to be trapped within the confines of our minds.” Karl then paused to collect himself the continued.
“But now that I am walking here in person! It feels so overwhelming and alien, yet at the same time, very familiar. This dissonance in my mind is a very strange feeling” Karl declared
“Well I’m not too sure about how I should feel about you saying my world only existed in books, but it’s good to see that you are enjoying yourself” Silver Eye replied with a smile
A few minutes later they arrived in front of a large lot of land with structures that resembled those of very old universities back on Earth. The only real difference would be the overly large gate and overly decorated in front of it. Again Karl was being beset by a strange feeling of familiarity upon seeing this.
Silver Eye then mumbled something in a soft voice then gestured, suddenly the gate opened on its own. Surprisingly it didn’t make much noise despite its size.
“So even the gate is magic powered?” Karl asked Silver Eye
“Why of course, this is a magic institute after all HAHAHA” Silver Eye laughed
“It might look simple but you have to use a specific spell in order to open the gate, and we purposely made that spell complicated as a means of testing aspiring students. Open the gate and you pass the first test. Believe it or not many have failed at this stage.” Silver Eye explained
“Wow, and I thought entrance exams back in my world were harsh” Karl replied as he shook his head.
Karl and Silver Eye then entered Dawnward’s main building Karl saw a lot of similarly robed people walking around and some were wearing hats. The atmosphere of Dawnward reminded him of another magic institution from another world that also ethat was adapted into a very popular movie series from long long ago.

Karl then noticed that everyone inside stopped whatever it was they were doing and simply gazed at him. It made Karl a little uncomfortable.
“Oh come on, please just stare at Alice instead of me.” Karl whined to himself
Silver Eye noticed this and coughed loudly and the people inside went back to doing whatever it is they were doing.
“Sorry about that. Your presence here is something very new, frankly not everyone was happy with your entry to Dawnward” Silver Eye sighed and as he slumped his shoulders.
“No, it’s okay. If the situation was reversed and you arrived at any institution back on Earth, you would most likely be greeted by the same stares. Although depending on where you are they might just think you’re some crazy lunatic in a wizard outfit” Karl replied.
“I see.” Silver Eye replied a bit surprised by Karl’s reply.
“Well then let me lead you to your living quarters” Silver Eye declared.
“Please lead the way.” Karl replied as he followed Silver Eye with his “luggage” moving closely behind.
Karl was given a rather spacious room on the 5th floor of the teaching staff dormitory. Not only do they have larger rooms it was also rather inappropriate to let Karl stay with the students since he isn’t one. Plus this would also make it easier for the staff to Monitor Karl’s movements, for his safety and the institution’s.
“This will be your home in Dawnward, I hope it is to your liking” Silver Eye said as he opened the door.
“No, no this room is exactly what I want, perfect size!” Karl replied
“Although, you don’t mind me changing the door right?” Karl asked Silver Eye.
“Changing the door?” Silver Eye asked in a perplexed voice
“Yeah, I brought my own door, it’s in there.” Karl said as he pointed to the large box Alice was towing behind her.
“Oh I see, then do what you want I guess. You probably want more privacy anyway.” Silver Eye replied as he sighed
“Thank you, now Alice!” Karl said in a rather loud voice
“Yes Prof. Karl?” Alice responded with her metallic voice that Silver Eye Still isn’t used to.
“Do your thing, and set up all the things that need setting up” Karl commanded Alice.
“As you wish” Alice obeyed as she entered the room along with Karls’ luggage.
“Now then” Karl looked at Silver Eye
“I would like to meet this partner of mine now since It will take some time before my room is ready” Karl said to Silver Eye.
“Are you sure you don’t want to rest?” Silver Eye asked.
“No, I’m good now let’s go. I am very eager to meet this “passionate” person you spoke about” Karl replied.
“Well then, I can guarantee that you will definitely find HER interesting” Silver Eye said in a rather uncharacteristic sly voice.
Karl then felt that something rather unpleasant would be happening soon.
He was then lead by Silver Eye to his private study and was told to wait while he goes to find the person in question himself. Karl was now getting increasingly anxious. Then a few moments later the door opened.
A familiar woman entered the room along with Silver Eye. The burning red hair, lame robe, and beautiful face, Karl immediately knew who she was.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH IT’S YOU! I KNEW IT!” Karl and the red haired woman shouted in unison.
