《Empress' Evolution》97. Uproot

Lilith stood alone before a destroyed makeshift village built inside a cave. The cave's insides were smeared with blood, and the corpses of the Two Heads littered the ground.
The Two Heads were a race of quite intelligent creatures, and that's the only thing they had going for them.
Though they may have been strong, that would be the only semblance of possible merit. In the end, the Two Heads were still just daemons, and after being rushed by Lilith's Army, who had superior tactics and numbers, the ending was clear — all were eradicated.
As a bonus, Lilith managed to seize nine Meat Cores outside the ones from the Werewolves. The Meat Cores spawned a variety of beastly daemons, from boars to elk and even slimes.
However, something that Lilith noticed that others didn't cause her to stay in this place. She closed her eyes and then spoke, "Welp, I need to finish this soon before anyone comes to pick me up."
She chose to stay under the pretext of praying for the dead and resting. Luna insisted on joining Lilith but was made to supervise the cleanup to "learn" for the future.
No one was here, and as the body of the Two Heads was lined up before her, she snapped her fingers and used an active skill, "Blaze Blitz…."
Multiple fireballs appeared around her and then flew inside the cave that landed atop a Two Heads' body. A fire began.
The Two Heads' beddings were made of dried leaves, and that too burned with ease.
'This should be enough to kill them all…' she thought to herself.
Lilith waited in front of the cave, wanting to see if she would level up from this.
Minutes passed, but she got no level even after ten minutes of waiting.
'What did I expect? They were too young to have a high enough level, I supposed.' Lilith said to console herself.
But she received something else.
[System: Due to what you have done, the Goddess have granted you the titles of [Uprooter] and [Cold Blooded Exterminator].]

[Uprooter: This title gives you nothing; it just shows how thorough you are.]
[Cold Blooded Exterminator: This will also grant you nothing.]
'What is this for? Another useless thing?' Lilith was rather incensed as she saw that the hallow titles.
Alpha sighed, [Well, the Goddess doesn't really condone the killings of a child, but she's not really against it. The Goddess Letza was, after all, the one who created all life. But, she's not entirely against it if it is necessary. After all, if she was against it, she wouldn't have chosen you as her Apostle. Look... she just doesn't want you to kill a life that had not blossomed yet, I think.]
'I can respect that.' Lilith said.
The reason why Lilith stayed in this cave was quite simple, to kill the children that were all hiding.
She sensed them earlier and sought them out; she chose a different way when she failed to find them.
Earlier, Lilith had already filled the place with poisonous breath, weakened the majority.
Every bunker has a hole for ventilation. Lilith's poison breath was heavy; thus, it would scatter and find its way into those holes.
She then used the fire and smoke to finish off everyone who didn't die.
Lilith didn't want any enemies of hers coming back to her, and she also didn't want anything that could become the seed of hate. If possible, Lilith would exterminate everyone, even a kid, to ensure the job was done.
Others feared her for her cold-blooded and ruthless means. This trait of hers was solidified due to her lack of hesitance in killing the young. Lilith would kill anyone related to the target, so no one could make the "I will avenge them!" line.
Though she still couldn't understand why in human society, killing children was more frowned upon than killing adults, she just chose to live with it, 'It's a life, both died so why so why pity the other more?' it was a mystery.

Overall, Lilith did the same here, fearing Luna and the others might react the same as those humans; she had them go away after making excuses.
"Even if they find me now, I can just say I didn't know and say that burning the bodies of enemies is one of the new traditions the Goddess demanded… I don't want that to be a thing. Corpses are useful for blackmails, after all.
"I'll just say I didn't want them to be eaten by the Wild Animals." She said with a smug expression.
Turning her back to the annihilated Two Heads' cave and children, Lilith stretched her back and complained, 'Well, at least I didn't go with the idea of turning the Two Heads as Villages. That would have needed so much more work and acting.'
Though Lilith could have instead turned them into Villagers, she thought making them EXP points would make them far more helpful, "They are too stupid and unsophisticated to help us with the current state of the Village. Also, if I wanted the Werewolves, I can't possibly have them in my camp, or one might hate the other."
Lilith was in dire need of daemons under her, but even so, she would not use something that could undermine her planning. The Two Heads, after all, act like Chief who disobeyed orders.
What would be much worst would be the Two Heads, unlike Chief, were incapable of learning.
"I don't want that from happening again. If anything had gone awry, we would have been slaughtered because of recklessness. But Chief did make the pretense of slaughtering easier and convenient, so I'll let it pass for the time being. With this, another hindrance in this place has been completely taken care of."
In the Bleeding Rage Valley, there were not many territories remaining as the Tyrant Blood Gorilla had already destroyed most of them.
"From what I gathered from the Werewolves, the South East is theirs, and the South West belonged to the Two Heads… well, they are now annihilated, so they can be written off. The other soldiers from the army and the Werewolves are now hunting every survivor who may have survived. Cleaning up is going good. Yeah, doing this is far more efficient."
Lilith justifying her actions of killing the young.
Walking away from the fire, she received a notification.
[Mission: The Conqueror (non-mandatory)] (Side-Quest #10)

[] 100,000 SP (acquired)
[] Loyalty of this Werewolf Tribe (acquired)
[] Store Upgrade (acquired)
[Would you like to Upgrade the Store now? Y/N?]
"…Nah, I don't know how long that would take, and Sylva would be coming out of her evolution cocoon soon. I will also be going to begin the conquering of this stronghold soon. So I can't stall any moment. Tell you what, Alpha, why not renegotiate the Store Upgrade for the System Overhaul I asked for before?" Lilith bargained.
[Hmmm... I'll try and see what I can do. Don't expect anything. Also, if a System Overhaul gets approved, a more demanding mission would be given to us to meet the necessary contribution points.]
"Contribution Points? I don't know what that is but I'll just say sure... Ahhh, this is going to be tiring."
Lilith could already anticipate a tiring future.

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./
