《Dungeon Story》Chapter 1 Questions in the dark
Advertisement
After waking up, I look around to find that I seem to be underground with no visible way for light to get in and yet I seem to be able to see clearly into the darkness, surrounded by earthen walls I try to remember anything about my past life before waking up in the white space, but to no avail than I remember the conversation I had with the Human like being and the feeling of misunderstanding I had before I was reborn here becomes readily apparent as I look at myself instead of seeing a black blob I see a small spherical black orb.
“WH. WH. WH. WHAT AM I?” I scream into the darkness, and while it was completely rhetorical I got a reply.
“Master you are a Dungeon heart.”
Strangely enough I got an answer I was not expecting from the darkness before me.
“Who are you?” I ask the darkness back hoping that I wasn’t insane, or that I hoped that I wasn’t going insane by simply being alone in the dark for a couple of seconds.
“Master I am your partner and your guide in this world” the voice replied back in the same monotone voice it did the first time, devoid of any emotion.
“okay, so what are you and what am I ?” which was the first questions that popped into my head, which I must praise myself for still being able to still think coherently, even with how out of my element I am and how apprehensive I feel right now.
“Master I am a personality assigned to guide you on most things regarding the management, growth and continued success as a dungeon. Master you are a dungeon heart, a crystalized soul that has mastery over mana being able to create and give life to anything you so desire, though right now master is too weak to give any being sentience so they will be like puppets following commands instead.” The voice in the dark gives me a long and detailed answer for my simple question not missing a beat, hell they didn’t even take a breath while giving me that long explanation, I guess they’re not a disembodied voice guide for nothing.
I continue to spend more time talking to Personality (used to be Voice in the dark) learning more about my condition. Apparently like Personality said before I am a crystalized soul, more commonly referred to as a dungeon heart and I have the power to create anything using mana, even living beings, but as of now my soul is very weak from crossing in between worlds and reincarnating, a process which personality claims is impossible unless one has a very strong soul.
“Well that explains why my soul is only the size of a small gem right now” I say as I start looking at myself trying to get a good look at myself from every angle.

“Master will get bigger as time progresses and gain more power” Personality adds on as I continue to check myself out, trying to get a sense for my new body.
Even though I call them Personality they really don’t seem to have one, it’s like talking to a machine more than anything, but I guess that their more like a machine rather than an actual personality to say the least.
“Master I am…”Personality starts….
“WHAT THE?” I scream again into the darkness as I was sure I didn’t ask Personality a question while I was in that deep thought, but than it hits me, the fact that Personality can seemingly read my mind.
“Master and I are connected and know what the other one is thinking of, though one must make a conscious effort to read the others mind. As for Master’s other question as I am linked to master as master gets stronger and gets more mana I will grow as a personality.” Personality reads my mind again answering before I can actually vocalize the question, in the same monotone voice which seems a bit more excited? If I had to give my best guess, while not sure on that, I am sure I heard emotion in that.
“Speaking of mana why is it so important any ways, it just seems that mana is related to everything about our growth.” I ask questionably, it really did seem strange as I did know about magic and spells that can do wondrous similar to mana, but I’ve never heard of mana before.
“Master mana is energy itself, mana is the very thing that fuels your body and is everywhere in the world and is as abundant the air itself. Master, being a dungeon heart can filter the mana in the air into yourself, filter and refine it into its most pure form and use it as power, commonly referred to as DP, or dungeon points in actual terms, this is what you will use to grow. You may check this by saying status.” Personality answers perfectly devoid of emotion again; there is no hint of that previous emotion I heard in there.
While listening and soaking in everything Personality has told me taking in my situation I say status absentmindedly out loud and start looking through it.
Name: N/A
Type: Dungeon
Race: Dungeon heart
Dungeon Rank: 1
Dungeon Points: 100/100
Skills: N/A
Waiting to allocate 2 skill point(s)
It’s less than what I was expecting but it’s better than nothing. I start at the beginning looking a Name, I never thought about it nor can I remember ever having a name, I start to skim though the status screen a bit faster, feeling relief that I have max dungeon points, with my eyes aptly focused on skill point.

“Well since calling status makes my status appear than... SKILL POINT.” as my voice echo off the walls in the presence of us two beings, to my dismay nothing happens I call it out several more times before Personality cuts in to voice thier encyclopedic knowledge.
“Master all you must do is focus your mind to use the skill points.” Personality cuts in before I can shout SKILL POINT again, filling me in on what I should be doing, But why do I feel like their voice is more distant than usual.
Never mind that, this is the first time ever I don’t understand Personality’s explanation I ask Persoonality again. But all I get is the same response from them, after pondering what they said for awhile and going through my memory I remember my talk with the Human like being, they said they chose me because I was interesting though I never questioned it, but what was so interesting about me that they picked me to live as a dungeon heart, I than remember the ending off our conversation, the memories that I chose to keep and the knowing smile they gave me.
Please allocate skill point: 2
Lore mastery; rank 1
This skill allows user mastery and creation over people and creatures only spoken about in text and tongue.
Dungeon rule; rank 1
This skill allows user to build and rule over their dungeon.
Seeing that I have two choices I focus on lore dungeon than Dungeon rule, the points get allocated, I start to glow intensely. And everything goes dark once again.
Lore mastery has fused with Dungeon rule automatically to create Lore Dungeon; rank 1.
I wake up once again expecting to see different scenery like the first time, but going against my expectation I see the same earthen walls which are starting to grow on me a bit, might be because I have been staring at them for who knows how long.
I call out status once again.
Name: N/A
Type: true Dungeon
Race: dungeon heart
Dungeon rank: 2
Dungeon Points: 367/500
Skills: Lore Dungeon; rank 1
Confused I focus on Lore dungeon, hoping that it would show me what it does.
Lore Dungeon
Rank 1: become the first true dungeon of this type (lore), this skill is a fusion between the following skills (lore mastery + Dungeon rule).
This skill rank comes with the following abilities.
Abilities Unlocked: Dig, lore creature mastery (fairytale), lore floor expansion (fairytale), Lore encounter (fairytale), lore material creation (fairytale).
Rank 2: ???
Rank 3: ???
Rank 4: ???
Rank 5: ???
Rank 6: ???
Rank 7: ???
Rank 8: ???
Rank 9: ???
Rank 10: ???
Seeing this information is already somewhat confusing but I hop farther down the rabbit hole as I start read the ability descriptions.
Ability; Dig: allows user to store a small amount of dirt, within a certain range, in a dimension with unlimited space using DP and to release a small amount of dirt stored within the dimension using DP.
Ability; Lore creature mastery (fairytale): allows user to summon creatures form fairy tales cost DP, and give them sentience, (requires extra DP depending on how advanced the creature is).
Ability; Lore floor expansion (fairytale): allows user to create a floor with themes commonly found in fairytales, (requires DP).
Ability; Lore encounter (fairytale): allows user to designate events from fairytales for intruders to encounter while exploring the dungeon, such what they run into and the frequency they run into it, (requires DP).
Ability; lore material creation (fairytale): allows user to create minerals, materials and items from fairytales, (minerals and materials require DP); (items cost significantly more DP than raw materials).
I somewhat enjoy reading though all the abilities and take a moment to take in all the information. After a while I start to get giddy as it seems that the Human like being wasn’t kidding when they said that dungeons where beings that exceeds normal bounds.
When I first woke up I thought that it was also misunderstanding that I could bring fairytales to life, this new breakthrough reignites the flame in my heart? I guess it would be soul, because I don’t have a heart, or would it still be heart since I am a dungeon heart, I chuckle as I muse to myself as I start to dig out a bigger space for myself.
Maybe it’s because I lost track of time between digging and waiting for my DP to regenerate but Personality started talking to me of their own accord asking me questions about fairytales, apparently though they were supposed to be my guide in all things dungeon, they did not know anything about lore or in their own words my Theme, stating that they would fail as a guide if they didn’t even grasp something as simple as the theme of the dungeon they were supposed to guide.
I indulge them as they’re my only companion in this lonely little earth pocket and that it would be more stimulating talking to someone as I do something as boring as digging.
As I talk to Personality digging doesn’t seem as boring any more, it just turns into something I idly did while chatting. Time ceases to exist as we chat away.

Forget the System. Even if I'm a lowly support class, I'll take on the Tower and take them all down! Since the System appeared one hundred years ago, humanity has been divided into three: combat classes, intellectual classes, and support classes. Assigned at the moment of high school graduation, one's class determines their future. Rowan wanted the most out of life. A combat class, an intellectual class, either would be fine. When he is instead assigned a support class, Gardener, he notices the System is completely rigged against support classes. Refusing to give up on his dream of realizing his future by his own terms, Rowan challenges the Tower, the seat of the System and home of the Hero-King, in hopes of bringing the entire System to its knees. Season One complete. Permanent Hiatus, Pending Rewrite. Important notes: -LitRPG fantasy -Rowan is not perfect. He's got flaws, emotions, and personal issues to work through. Please don't review until chapter 30 because the arc is not complete until that chapter. (Chapters are short, that's an average RR book's chapter 10) -No harem, no rape, no isekai, no romance -Questions? Please ask!
