《The Abyss Gazer》Chapter 15:Chased by pain
Advertisement
Blood demons are one of the most rare and powerful species of demons in Ghendrel, and just as their name implies, they have an incredible attitude for blood magic and blood manipulation, only being beaten by vampires, which they share a friendly rivalry with. Even a single Blood demon can easily slay a human battalion, since they can simply close their veins or turn the blood of wounds and corpses into weapons, as such only Inquisitors and high ranking soldiers and adventurers with high magic resistance can even hope to defeat one. If you're not one of these and you meet a Blood demon, then pray to your God, if they're so merciful to even give you the time to do so.
Adventurer's Guide Chapter 109
"SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHTI!"
Andrew was breathing heavily, his body feeling as heavy as lead and ready to give up at any moment, running trough the darkness of the forest. But even if he wanted to he could not stop, for the sake of his safety, he could not stop for any reason. Or else...
"RUN, ANDREW, RUN! IT MAKES IT MORE ENJOYABLE FOR ME!"
Rulia was constantly hot on his tail, reminding that she could catch him whenever she wanted to. She jumped to tree to tree, sometimes even in front of Andrew, other times she just ran, remaining only one or two meters away from him, always with a big smile planted on her face.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"IT'LL END IF YOU JUST LET ME GET YOU!"
"FUCK THAT!"
Andrew boosted himself multiple times with all the speed, stamina and strength buffs he could find in his mental database, but no matter what, Rulia had no problems keeping up with him. He was at edge of exasperation... or desperation, he wasn't too sure himself by now, he just wanted to get out of there. He didn't know what the Darksiders Guild was, or why it wanted him to join, but the one sure thing was that if Rulia captured him, he would learn a whole new meaning of pain.
"MURGIN! HELP ME DAMMIT!"
"Yeah, calm down, what's the m-oh, you're being chased now. Aaaaaand she was a demon. I suppose it's bad if she gets you?"
"YES! A LOT!"
"Why does she even want you anyway?"
"SHE'S HERE TO MAKE ME JOIN THE DARKSIDERS GUILD OR SOMETHING"
"Oh, them"
"YOU KNOW THEM?!?"
"Well, yes, and it wouldn't be really bad if you joined them, but it would limit our range and freedom of action... So i'll help you out"
"HEY ANDREW, YOU CAN'T JUST TALK TO SOMEONE ELSE WITHOUT PRESENTING HIM WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING WITH ME!"
"SHE KNOWS! HELP! MOVE! FAST!"
"Yeah, i'm done, calm down"
Suddenly a black hole appeared in front of Andrew, who immediately ran into it, disappearing into nothingness.
Rulia stopped and stood where her "friend" vanished, confused and disappointed that her playtime had ended.
"Andreeeeeew? Where did you goooooo? Come on, let's keep playing! If you're angry, i'll be nicer"
She couldn't understand why she couldn't find him, even if he used some kind of invisibility spell she should have still been perfectly able to either sense his presence or smell him. The only explanation was that he used some kind of long-range teleportation.

"Umpf,that's cheating Andrew!"
She puffed her cheeks and stomped the ground for about a minute, before calming down and activating some strange magic circle on her wrist.
"Auntieeeeeeee"
"Yes, Rulia, what's the matter? Did you complete the mission?"
A commanding voice could be heard from the magic circle.
"Ehm, well, i....."
"...You lost him didn't you?"
"Ehm.. no?"
"How many times do i have to tell you to don't get distracted?!? And i said lost him, but why was there even need to hunt him down? You just had to CALMLY explain the benefits of joining us and it would have gone fine!"
"Uuuuuuuh.."
"You became "friends" didn't you?"
"Of course! How couldn't i? I mean, he's hilarious! And he doesn't care about my tendencies!"
"That may be true but there's a limit to everything!"
"I'm sorryyyyyyy auntie..."
"Ugh,,,,, What a pain.... Well, it doesn't matter we'll just find him again. A mage like that can't go unnoticed for long after all. Check the area one last time, then return home"
"Yes,auntie. Byeee"
"Bye, and if you find him again DON'T. SCARE HIM."
"Ooooook"
The magic circle disappeared from Rulia's wrist and after checking around a bit she leaped off into the darkness.
Silence surrounded the forest, which was now peaceful once again, the sound of the animals slowly returning.
But the that peace was interrupted by a small and almost soundless whisper.
"Is she gone? Tell me she's gone"
"Calm down, she's still around, don't move from here"
"Ok, ok, this.... this.... this is a problem"
"Indeed it is, you should thank me later"
Andrew was standing right in the middle of the trees easily spottable by anyone and anything, but for some reason Rulia couldn't find him. He couldn't understand how that was possible,
"Hey, Murgin, what did you do anyway? It's like i'm invisible"
"Oh, if that was the only thing i gave you she would have found you easily"
"Then how?"
"I used [Unseen Syndrome]"
"[Unseen Syndrome]?"
"It's a high rank stealth magic that makes you completely impossible to be seen or smelled, and even makes you immune to any kind of search or analyze magic. Well, these are the effects of the weakened version"
"Cool, but why isn't it in my archive?"
"Let's just say that if done wrong there would be dire consequences"
"...I doubt i'll try to use that... hey, why did you use that on me if it was so dangerous?!?"
"Well..... i didn't have anything that could be more efficient, i mean, i made Nox use one of abilities to analyze her and she has some absurd tracking abilities, anything else would have been eventually useless"
"Damn, if even a God says that... i got lucky"
"And i wanted to test it once but that's secondary"
"Wha-"
"Now, now, calm down, we have something more important to do. The magic won't last forever and will begin to deteriorate in a while, so you have to get as far as possible from here"
"I kind of lost the direction though..."

"No problem, it's basically behind you"
"Really?"
"Yeah, you only ran straight ahead, not very smart on your part"
"I was panicking"
"That's another reason for you to zigzag and flail your arms in terror"
"Shut up"
Andrew began following his tracks, his every hair straight as a spike and his ears and eyes trying to perceive the slightest movement or sound in the dark, dark and now inhospitable forest. Even the sound of leaves falling or grills singing made him uncomfortable, despite the fact that nobody could realize he was even there.
In a while he saw the camp, the smell of blood still lingering in the air, and fire burning brightly, creating twisted and distorted shadows that tried to grab everything that was in their reach. A sinister spectacle for anyone. Andrew decided to go around it since he would rather avoid completely dismembered bodies, also because Rulia defined herself as a Blood demon, and that may imply she could have made traps with the blood laying everywhere and [Unseen Syndrome] could not do anything about that, since even if he could not be "felt",he could still be touched, meaning he could be captured by a trap.
He slowly walked around, carefully checking everything around him.
Then, suddenly, Rulia appeared in the middle of the camp, looking around her.
"Shit" Andrew thought, barely keeping his mouth from making sounds.
She seemed to be controlling the blood stains all over the camp, revealing magic circles over them. It seemed Andrew's theory was right. He hid behind a tree, as unnecessary as it may have seemed, and paid attention to her every single movement. Moving carelessly would not have been a good idea, he could not underestimate her senses, even Murgin said they were abnormal. He slowly crawled away, still paying attention to every sound around him. He crawled, and crawled, till he finally managed to get far away from the camp, which he could barely see the fire of now.
"Yeeeeeees"
He got up quickly, overtaken by his satisfaction and relief, hitting a trench with his hands that stretched to the sky in victory, still whispering though. He calmed himself, he could not mess up now. He began following the path that would have led the now dead group to the capital. He thanked his luck for making him find it so easily, and moved onward, to new adventures, possibly without serial killers that want to "play" with him. And so Andrew disappeared once again, this time on the horizon of the black and mysterious night.
But what he did not notice was a single small cut on a single finger, which dropped a single minuscule drop of blood to the ground. And no drop of blood would go unnoticed by a Blood demon. Rulia, who had just stopped scouting the forest and was about to leave, had her nose tickled by a smell that was different from the ones of her victims. Her sad mood quickly lightened up and her face twisted into a mad grin once again.
"FOUND YOUUUU!"
She ran as fast as the wind, ready for another game, before stopping abruptly, remembering what she was told.
"Ok, ok, calm down, don't wanna scare him off, let's try to talk calmly. Yes, calmly, very calmly. Oh, dammit his scared face is adorable though.... but if i get him to join us i could see it whenever i wanted too....Ok, calm is the way"
She reached the area where she felt the smell came from, but found no trace of Andrew.
"Uh, where is he? Come on, did i lose him again?"
She looked around for a minute, then saw a little bit of blood over a piece of grass.
"There you are!"
She used some kind of magic and made all of the blood float into her wrist's magic circle, which turned part of its symbols turn into some kind of arrow that began pointing north of the forest.
"He's already going towards the capital? I guess it would be smart to leave him alone and give him the time to calm down. It'll be easier to convince him. And then we'll play again!"
Rulia decided to reach the city the next day, she would find Andrew easily anyway. After all, no matter how many times she got distracted, in the end she would always get to her target. She decided to sleep in the camp, all the blood made it much more comfortable and relaxing for her. She arrived at her tent, put away some flesh pieces that ended in there, since she still had enough common sense to think it was a bit disgusting, and cuddled up in her sheets, barely managing to sleep from the desire to see the sun rise.
"And tomorrow, the real hunt begins. It's going to be so exciting!"
And so she fell prey to sleep, dreaming of delightful slaughters and of a poor Andrew running away from her at the same time.
Ah, the mind of madmen are so comforting and innocent, in a strange and twisted way.
Ah, Easter, time of party and happiness for many, time of tests, nine hour car trips, infinite lunches and dinners, interrogations from people that i barely see all the year, tiredness and laziness for me. Just joking, but still, quite tiring, i mean, what the fuck, NINE HOURS IN A CAR IS JUST FUCKING WRONG! Anyway i'm sorry i haven't updated in a while, my procrastination doesn't mix well with all the shit i had to do, so please forgive me and i hope you enjoyed the chapter. As a present to earn my forgiveness i'll write a poem:
Drake234,
Lazy he is,
His writing skills are already very poor,
Then he doesn't post for weeks, who does he think he is?
Not a trusty writer that's for sure
This laziness must stop
His end should be premature
And as such he'll drop from the land of the pure (writers)!
...It turned out more a rap than anything, but whatever it's the same thing, just cooler. I gotta say it's a fun way of deprecation though. Maybe i'll do more in the future.... or maybe not, i don't know. What i know is that i didn't listen to enough Jt Machinima and Dan Bull. I must learn from these masters, then maybe, just maybe, i'll do decent raps.... wait, i'm a writer, why do i need to rap?
Because i can.
