Soaring Dragon Continent, Mt. Zu
Qiu Zhen was seated in a meditative position absorbing the qi in the air. He has already broken into the second qi realization realm. He knew that this was only the beginning state and he could hardly be considered a strong cultivator. For those his age sure he would be strong, however the people who have cultivated for years could kill him with a finger.
Qi Realization was only the first step, and it had a total of nine levels before breaking into the next realm. The first level of Qi Realization the cultivator is able to sense other cultivators as long as they aren’t four levels above their own. The second level the cultivators meridians goes through a transformation, they are deconstructed and reconstructed being reborn. This enhances the meridians to absorb more rich qi in the air, and allows the cultivator to have a sudden burst of energy when needed. Above the second level is the third level which enhances eyesight, so one could see fifty meters ahead of them.
Qiu Zhen’s mother always kept him updated on the topics of the cultivation world. She told him that it was highly unstable and the seven kingdoms were suspecting someone in the palace to have killed the emperor. Qiu Zhen was excited and his heart couldn’t calm down, because the people in the seven kingdoms were gathering information faster than he thought they would. However, he secretly hoped they wouldn’t link it to his brother, because Qiu Zhen wanted to get revenge on him with his own hands.
Soaring Dragon Continent, Emperor’s Palace
Within the emperor’s palace were seated eight figures who were staring at each other. These figures were all extremely strong each one of them were Paragons of Truth, and were all highly respected in their kingdoms. Currently a meeting was taking place to determine what to do about the position of emperor and Chang Mu’s death.
“Chang Chi, you’ve been oddly quiet for some time now. How could you be so calm and quiet after your brothers death, you should have caused a storm but you didn’t.”
“No I think you’re mistaken elder brother Gan Fu i’ve been doing my own research into who could have done this. The palace has been swept clean and every subordinate is being interrogated, it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes to light.”

“So you say, but we need results. Poor Chang Mu, reaching the immortal realm only to die five years after by some fiend. If I even get a whiff of him, he will have a fate worse than death!”
“Calm down elder sister Chyou Liu i’m sure my brother's murderer will be caught soon. What we need to know is who refined the Six Demon Sealing poison, once we find them we can find the buyer. The buyer has to be the one who gave it to Chang Mu.”
The seven figures nodded in approval, this was no time to accuse Chang Chi even if he did seem suspicious. What they needed to do now was find out who refined such a pill, and once they found out the rest would be connecting dots. However to find the master of such a creation would not be easy, the pill masters numbered billions and searching each of them would take months if not years.
“Fine! Chang Chi you say you have nothing to do with Chang Mu’s death but I find it highly strange that in the last two days the death’s of six Paragons of Truth who served the palace aren’t connected to you.”
The others also nodded in agreement, because it is strange that six Paragon of Truth’s were killed in a matter of two days. They wouldn’t connect the dots if the Paragons weren’t related, however that wasn’t the case and each of them served the palace. This meant that someone was getting rid of these people for a reason and they needed to know the reason. The only person who could cause the death of these people was Chang Chi, or some expert who hate the palace.
Chang Chi didn’t know what to say, he simply smiled at the others. “I assure you that this matter isn’t related to me. Those men were highly suspected of poisoning the emperor so I personally interrogated them and when I found out they knew nothing so I let them go.”
“They must have ticked off some old elder and died, that or they knew something and tried to tell but before they could someone killed them. Go ahead and ask my wife, and the servants, I, Chang Chi have never left the palace in these past two days.”

The seven figures glanced at a servant girl who shrieked as the looked at her. She nodded her head several times to confirm that Chang Chi never left the palace.
They thought this was suspicious, but since he never left then someone else must have done thing. The person who was doing this had to be the person who killed Chang Mu and he was cleaning up any loose ends. What needed to be done now was to find the rest of the Paragons who served the palace and place them under careful watch, to see if anything would happen.
How would these seven figures understand the Chang Chi is playing with them in the palm of his hand. They would never figure out it was him, he hired the best assassin there is and paid an enormous sum of money to get the job done. Not only that, the letter he sent never contained his name nor origin and was burned after being read so it was untraceable. Inside he was laughing at these fools, he was playing them like a game of chess, every move he made is highly calculated.
“I say we stop accusing him and get to the urgent matter at hand. We are without an emperor, and I suggest we get a new one. The perfect candidate would obviously be Jian Bai. He has a good sense of control and he rules with an iron first, he’s also the most likely to become the next immortal. Only fifty-six years of age and already a Paragon of Truth, give him another twenty-fifty more years and he become an immortal.”
Bam!
Elder Gan Fu slammed his first on the table, it was obvious that Jian Bo was supporting his own brother to becoming the next emperor. This would make his kingdom control the other six kingdoms and the kingdom in their hands was not going to be a good thing.
“Jian Bo! Its obvious you would support your own kingdom I suggest Jun Jiaying. She has the best experience and a female in charge would have many supporters not to mention she has yet to wed.”
The exchange of who should become the next emperor went back and forth, it was obvious each kingdom wanted their own to be in charge. They only picked the youngest Paragon of Truth to become the next because they would have the most time to become an immortal.
Chang Chi was stunned, these people gave him no face. He was the emperor’s brother and yet they didn’t even consider him worthy of inheriting the title. His eyebrows kept twitching as he listened to who they volunteered.
“Listen, I suggest we do this…..”
Soaring Dragon Continent, Mt. Zu
Lien Meili is so proud of her son, he is a cultivation genius. If only he was born fifteen years sooner then he could rise and become the next emperor. Today she came bearing news of what is going on in the cultivation world, and this news would change the his future.
Sensing his mother coming closer Qiu Zhen knew that she must have come bearing news for him. He stopped meditating and looked up at her waiting.
“Ah, the Cultivation world is truly about to collapse. A few days ago the leader of the seven kingdoms had a meeting over Chang Mu’s death and they stopped suspecting Chang Chi. Their new focus is on the person who refined the Six Demon Sealing pill and the mysterious deaths of those Paragons that served the palace.”
"Ah, such a pill is dangerous, whoever refined such a pill is should be a grandmaster. A pill which can even cause an immortal, to turn back mortal, in the hands of more pepole, it could cause the cultivation world to turn upside down."
Qiu Zhen was shocked, it turns out that his hope for Chang Chi not being suspected came true. His blood started to boil, it was time to kick his training into overdrive. Even if he didn’t have the five Dragon pendant, he would still be able to reach a terrifying level as long as he stayed focus on cultivation.
“That isn’t all Qiu Zhen, they decided it was time for a new emperor and each kingdom wanted one of their own. However it was at a standstill of who should become the emperor, that is until Chang Chi came up with an idea.”

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
