《The Greatest Gene》Divine Perception Sect

He had leveled up both his slow gene and multi-instant stop gene, his timestop had gone from 4 seconds to 6 seconds, and the cooldown dropped from one hour to half an hour. Cain was already close to fusion, once he did that his strength would explode massively. Cain could tell he wouldn’t stay in this school for much longer, it was almost time to leave, but he would finish the fusion before going. As Cain was thinking, a teacher informed him that the headmaster wanted to talk to him.
“Cain, I’ve been watching your performance and noticed that the school is starting to stifle your potential. Normally I wouldn’t do this because I don’t have many opportunities left, but I would like to recommend you to the Divine Perception Sect. I had done a favor for one of their elders in the past and hence he gave me a recommendation spot. You are the most talented student I’ve ever seen, so I want you to take this spot”
Cain was shocked, sects were special existences. Even their common students would be Genetic Generals. Each sect ruled multiple planets and some of the core disciples could even get an entire planet to themselves, the treatment was unimaginable.
“Naturally, you are still a bit of a distance away from becoming a Genetic General, so I’ll give you one year. If you manage to do it the spot is yours, if not you can't blame me”
“Don’t worry headmaster, I’ll be sure to accomplish this mission”
“Good, you are dismissed”
Cain left the room feeling strange, it had only been a year or so ago he was a regular person, who didn't even have hopes of becoming a Genetic Warrior. However now he even had a chance to join a sect. His dreams of travelling the stars was already close to him, but there was still one hurdle left.

Cain had to increase his strength tremendously in a single year, and the best way to increase your strength was with life and death battles. Cain had no plans of going soft on himself, he was still young and his potential was endless, but if he missed this chance he may never be able to join a sect in his lifetime. Most people capable of joining sects were kids from extremely powerful families who were also unimaginable geniuses. They would have the support of an entire Kingdom to make them Genetic Generals. For them this requirement wasn’t too difficult, but Cain didn’t have this kind of treatment.
He had no plans of letting this small inconvenience set him back, he would fight with his life on the line for this opportunity. That night Cain packed up all his essentials and walked out of the school, he would either come back a winner, or never come back at all. Cain already had an idea where to head, the shadow agency, an organization that gave out different missions, mostly around assassination.
Cain walked down a shady alley before knocking on a door, he managed to figure out a shadow agency was located here after doing a little research. Once the door opened he was welcomed into a small bar with all sorts of people. The bartender was a beautiful woman with a scar running across her face, however that didn’t ruin her look and instead gave her a unique charm. Cain walked up and ordered a special drink. Naturally this wasn’t a real drink and was instead the code word to get the mission list.
The lady slided a list across the table, Cain quickly selected a mission before sliding it back to the lady.
“Kill Tier 3 Genetic Warrior, Steve Smith - Usually located around the beltic city area. Head must be acquired as proof of kill”

The lady shook her head when she saw Cain’s option. This Steve fella was very infamous, and he had a special gene called liquid form, making it extremely hard to assassinate him. Naturally she wasn’t aware he was looking forward to a challenge, if they went down to easily then it would be pointless. Cain headed towards the beltic area before renting a room at a hotel, the shadow agency had given him a picture of Steve so he knew what to look out for. Looking out his hotel room window, he had a birds eye view of everything happening down below.
Cain eventually saw Steve walking among a group of different men. they were chatting and laughing among themselves, and Steve was standing in the middle of it all, looking like the leader. Cain kept waiting for the prime opportunity, if not today, then tomorrow. However each day it was the same thing, Steve would be among his group. Steve was extremely cautious since he was use to assassination attempts. Cain had already knew Steve’s entire route, but he never had a good chance to strike, however one day the opportunity came, even the most cautious would slip up eventually.
Steve had left his group and headed by himself, he was smoking near docks when Cain stabbed at him from him. The shocking part was Cain’s spear went right through Steve’s body, as if he was made of liquid.
“Heh, I was expecting you. You think I’m so stupid to give you such a prime opportunity, this was only to lure you out of your rathole so I could kill you”
Cain realized he had slipped up, his snooping attempts were probably noticed by Steve a long time ago, and while he was collecting information on Steve, Steve was doing the same on him. Cain quickly opened up a gap, but Steve was a little faster, he was tier 3 Genetic Warrior after all. Steve’s fist turned into water and increased in size, it smashed at Cain and sent him flying back. Cain used his slow gene on Steve, his speed fell until it was slightly below Cain, giving Cain back his speed advantage.

Magikind [Original]
The third millennia, a time of change and evolution. An era, where people, through countless generations, have evolved strange powers and abilities. Through several centuries of selective breeding, these beings, known as mages, have become part of the very foundations of society. However, some refused to change or adapt. They believed in purity and refused to interbreed with magikind. Known as the manush, they were a rarity among society. Now, in the fifth millennia, the manush are thought extinct. With magikind ruling the world, a three-way war grips society. In these uncertain times, a manush called Gin, will herald a new era for all Magikind. A story of how man could realistically evolve while still pushing boundaries. Disclaimer: Chapters will be edited once the first volume is done. Bear the beginning for the time being, and hopefully you can see my writing improving over time (I've learnt a lot on how to write because of this (though I'm still not perfect :P)) Proud Member of Writers to the End, WriTE The link to the pledged fictions PS. If you find the 'notes' too boring or too info-dumpy, feel free to skip them and just read the main chapters. They're there for the reader to understand Gin's world (written in the perspective of Gin). But later on, we can see some interactions between the main characters and the occasional references to his past in the notes, so it has its purpose.
