《Ley World-The Game》Chapter 28

Looking around, he counted 60 or so of these beasts. Without a second thought, tens of large gravity points appeared throughout the mass of beasts.
His mana quickly drained, and after a few seconds he was already down to half. He stopped there and looked at the carnage he had created. Though only 7-8 had died, a good 30 of them were extremely damaged. A few others had light injuries, with only 13 of them being fully unharmed.
Looking at the closest one, he began running forwards. Quickly using on it, he swung his pick horizontally, hitting it right in one of the eyes. Green "blood" burst out and showered over Jayson, but he quickly swung once more, killing it.
Looking around, he saw three more of the beasts charging in at him. His mana was slowly raising, but he quickly used three small gravity points on the beasts, causing them to explode in a shower of green gore. This had cost him another 8% of his mana. He was now below 40%, and would have to be careful.
A few seconds passed and he saw that a few more of the beasts had died due to blood-loss. This still left him with 9 unharmed and 30ish damaged ones left.
Wielding his pick, he began to charge the damaged tree-beasts. A few seconds passed and a few more had died. He continued his spree until he heard a deep growl coming from the beasts. Staying a bit further back, he watched them all place their arm-membranes on the floor.
Confused for a few seconds, he finally understood, albeit a bit late. Jumping upwards, the ground beneath his exploded outwards as hundreds of roots came spiraling outwards, all pushing towards him. He could feel the faint lines of mana going through them and knew that this was magic.

Quickly casting he sent redirected some of the roots back at the beasts while he used to push himself further way from the beasts and their roots.
Landing a few hundred meters away, he let his mana slowly refill as the beasts started chasing after him. Another 10 had died from his use of but that still left another 30 of them left.
By the time they were 100 meters away, he had gained another 5% of his mana back. Now at 30%, he felt as if he could win the fight. With this last bit of mana, he cast three . He put 10% of his mana into each one.
Looking at the results, he was happy, they looked like extremely weak and small black holes. The remaining damaged ones, which he had targeted, all died, and a few unharmed ones also died. It was now 1v5, with 2 unharmed, 2 harmed and 1 almost dead.
Crouching down, he charged forwards full speed. Seeing two of them move forwards to intercept him, he quickly jumped to the sides and swung, managing to clip one with the edge of his pick. With his momentum, he managed to push it backwards a bit, and into one of the other beasts.
Quickly turning around, he swung downwards, hitting the extremely damaged one and killing it. The one he had hit was still stumbling, so he took the opportunity to quickly kill it. With two left, he quickly charged the damaged one, and after a few swings, it died.
Smiling, he turned around to kill the other one, when a root shot itself through his left leg. Feeling searing pain, he tried to swing downwards, but before he could the root swung him upwards then slammed him into the ground.
Going unconscious for a few seconds, he let go of the pick.

Quickly reopening his eyes, he saw himself get thrown up in the air, finally dislodged from the vine. Those few seconds of unconsciousness had gained him a bit of mana, and with the raise of a hand he quickly killed the last remaining beast.
His body landed with a thud on a small mound of corpses. He laid there for a few minutes, allowing his injuries to slowly heal. Feeling the rest of the pain go away, he went to his status screen to see what had changed.
During the fight, you sustained a heavy injury to your leg. You're left leg now has status debuff: Injured, for 10 hours. Agility -50%.
*Damn. I should've realized they would put something like this in the game. And also, this was the first thing I've killed that also uses magic. I should be more careful from now on, I could've died from that.*

The Simulations
After ascending from his last life to become a Champion our hero has his memories locked. He is told that he must compete in competitive simulations against other Champions in order to earn enough to continue to simulate his consciousness. The competitive simulations have a variety of scenario genres, and may or may not have a game interface. The first competitive simulation our hero faces is from the Summoned Hero/Traveller to a New World genre, and is set as Fantasy Realistic - no game interface. He must ensure that the person he chose in the simulation's setup survives the end of the world in order to win. Author's note: I'm committing to one arc of four books. The arc has its own complete storyline. And each book has its own individual storyline as well. Each book also has 60 chapters, for a total commitment of 240 chapters. I'm aiming for a release schedule of a chapter every 23 hours.
