《Infinite Wishes》Answer 4

“The third affinity is called ‘Space’ magic. Space magic holds the power to manipulate gravity to your will.”, ahh I see, so I can make it so an area may seem really heavy or light. The only way I think I can use this ability with my naive mind is suppressing someone.
“That’s all there is really to it, it is a bit broad but I thought you can think of a way to use it”, explained Kate.
“Yes, I am pretty sure I got the gist of it. May I test it out?”
“You already know what to do?”
“Most likely.”
“Alright, but lets move to the private training grounds.”
“This area was designed to test a single person’s strength.”
“Can I use this place more often?”
“It would be best if you did, for the sake of everyone else.”
“Haha-ha…”, I take out a hand and point my palm at a dummy. I start to think about the way gravity works and how to control it. Realistically, if I were to afflict high gravity in a certain area, it would affect the gravity in that area from the highest point of this planet’s atmosphere, to the core of the earth, that would cause a crap ton of trouble. I did not know how this gravity ability functioned but I tried my best to stray away from effecting the actual gravity point of an area, but instead make my own custom area where gravity is affected. I feel my mana sapping away but I do not see anything, I tried to make the gravity area about 5 meters in front of me, with a three meter diameter, in the form of a three meter long cylinder.
“Can someone throw an object three meters in front of me?”

“Why?”, they all said, why am I always questioned…
“Just so I know the gravity ability is working, if it works, once it hits the invisible barrier, it should go down to the floor with an alarming speed, enough to break the object.”. The male professor took a pen from his pocket and threw it in front of me. Once the tip of the pen hit the barrier, then pen flow down at the speed of light. However, the pen did not break, it flew through the floor, creating a pen shaped hole into the ground. The push from the gravity caused the pen to fly out of my barrier and into the ground with great speed.
“...”
“This was supposed to be the highest grade protective material… either we should have expected this, or the material was a fraud.”, Kate was trying to figure out the answer.
“I think it was to be expected, seeing as to how Keith’s Magic Strength Level is over the charts. I am sure even someone with a Magic Strength Level of ‘Massive’ can achieve that at full power, but this is nothing for him.”
“...”, everyone went silent again, all looking towards the floor.
“We really need time to plan this out. At this rate, Keith will have no suitable place to train and learn to control his power, else we will just be a walking natural disaster.”, I felt bad for putting too much work on the staff, especially the Principle, but there was nothing really that I could do, none of my magic was suitable for making barriers. But how do people even make barriers?
“What spell and affinity is required to make a barrier?”
“Barriers arent casted by magic spells, they are created by talismans. Artists write down a spell onto an enchanted piece of paper while infusing mana into it while they write, then we place the talismans all over an area in order to make a barrier.”, the principle explained, this was not expected, for I was sure it was created by casting a spell, but this also meant that even I can do it, right?

“How is the strength of the barrier determined?”
“It is determined by the perfection of the writing on the paper, and the amount of mana infused into it.”, perfecting writing is going to take a lot of time so making barrier myself is not an option right now.
“Aren’t there ways to make a barrier using a spell? How else will people protect themselves.”
“Well with some practise, anyone is able to make a barrier, but it is only temporary, so it's only useful for combat.” ugh, does this mean I will have to refrain from training?
“We have a lot of problems in out hands, yet there is one more magic affinity to go through…”

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
