《The horseman, death》Chapter 8

Me: Well this sucks.
I am currently sitting in the middle of a bunch bandit corpses looking through the book of the dead. Cristal is searching through the tents for anything useful besides ragged clothes and crappy weapons. Of course she refused at first saying something about how unfair it is and that a woman shouldn't look through barbarians belongings. Of course when I pointed out how I was in the most danger and against a small army of bandits she shut up. Anyway I was experimenting with the book of the dead to see if it could do anything besides kill and give my power to others. I first thought I could do something with souls. Like use their souls to assist me or have them give me some power up. So I wrote down the name of that girl I first met when coming here. What was here name again?
Oh yeah Vicki Thompson. I had to write her name with a quill and instead of ink I was writing using the blood that was all around. To a normal person this would be a disturbing scene. A guy writing the name of a dead girl in blood. However when I wrote her name nothing happened and the name simply disappeared from the book. I figured the book wouldn't let me use a dead soul so I tried another thing. Getting information on the living. I thought that if I put a name down and put info next to it I will get their info since putting reaver gives them my powers.
However I didn't have anyone to test it on. Which leads to now.
Me: I should have kept at least one alive. Maybe someone survived.
I looked around and knew that's not the case. Their is not a single soul in these carcasses. So I just sigh and wonder if I should help cristal. I decided to instead look through the list god gave me. The earliest name was scheduled to die 3 months from now.
Name: General Lance Bearshriek
Place: ajund plains
cause of death: Multiple stabbing
Time: 88 days remaining
Me: I guess I should learn about this person and these plains.
I then figured I should try to find my mana. So I once again concentrated on the power coming from my chest. I found the trail of power and once again tried to follow it to the source and like always it proved difficult. 10 minutes later I had a thought and followed the trail away from the source which was a lot easier. However I came to a sudden stop. The trail simply stopped all to suddenly. I began to wonder why since the trail seemed to be quite powerful and could keep on going. Then I remembered the cloak that god gave me. Maybe it was making it difficult for me to find my mana since it was made to stop my power of death.

I took off the cloak and almost instantly all the flies that began to fly around the bodies died. The farthest away fly to fall was about 10ft. So I made this my known area of effect and once again began to search for the source of my mana. It was much easier this time and I found the source in almost 2 min. When I reached it I felt power suddenly spread from my chest to throughout my body.
Me: Wow that was simple. Guess I should be more wary about what this thing can do to my powers.
I said as I held up the cloak. I then began to experiment with my powers. I wanted to try to summon all the orbs I can then cut them in half to make more smaller ones. My aim was to make them the size or if at all possible smaller than a bug. So I summoned one orb since it's not wise to go all out in the beginning and tried to split it in half. It was mentally exhausting and I couldn't get it to split but I was close since I could visually see a orb trying to separate from the original. However before I could completely separate them I heard running and quickly put on the cloak.
It was cristal and she seemed happy about something.
Cristal: Death your not gonna believe what I found.
Me: Oh? And what might it be?
Cristal: I think I found some cursed weapons.
Me: Cursed weapons?
Cristal: Weapons that chose their masters. If someone forcefully uses one with out being acknowledged by the weapon they will die in some mysterious way.
Me: Wait so how do these weapons help us?
Cristal: If your acknowledged by them than you can gain some serious power. I already tried and i'm not fit for the them. But I know that they are of the darker element.
Now I am interested in these cursed weapons. I mean on earth a weapon with a mind could only be a A.I. controlled weapon and there weren't many of those. But apparently there are weapons here that also have something like an A.I. I wonder how they are made. I was then led by cristal to the weapons. She took me to a little shack that seemed to act as a storage space for weapons and armor. On the wall opposite the door was a small table that had a whip with a arrowhead like tip and a odd looking pole with many unknown carvings all over it. I figured it was simply a staff since it would make a lot more sense with those markings.

Me: So how does this work?
Cristal: You simply have to touch them and it will tell if you are it's master.
I did as she said and touched the handle for the whip.
I suddenly felt like something small and sharp pierced me and heard a voice.
???: You are not worthy!
The voice sounded emotionless while the sudden increase in pain caused me to let go of the whip.
Me: What was that?
Cristal: WELL! WELL! What did it say?
Me: You are not worthy.
Cristal: Ahhh. It does not acknowledge you.
Me: That sharp pain I felt, is that what kills people.
Cristal: No that is more like a warning. It means if you forcibly use it you will feel the pain until you die from something.
Me: You said die in some mysterious way. Were you referring to suicide to end the pain?
Cristal: Well in some cases yes. But since it's usually some strong people that are brave enough to try and forcefully use a cursed weapon. They are killed by very simple mistakes that should not have happened with their level of skill.
Me: I see. But what's with the voice?
Cristal: That actually has many theories around it but only 2 theories were what me and my village thought to be the real answer.
She then looked sad at bringing up her home. Since I could not understand what she was feeling all I could do was copy stuff from books I read that had similar scenarios.
Me: It's okay if you don't want to talk about it.
My emotionless voice makes it really hard to sell since I also feel like how my voice sounds.
Cristal: No it's okay. We pride ourselves on learning and spreading knowledge that helps others.
She looked at me and tried to hide her emotions behind a fake smile.
Cristal: Anyway, the voice you heard could have been an extreme amount of mana that has entered the weapon through some kind of powerful magic giving it a mind. Or it is the soul of a creature that was previously killed by the weapon and bound to it.
Hearing this I immediately look at the weapons. I think the theory about the souls is correct. I can see a rat that appears to be floating just above the whip. I thought on how I could have possibly missed it. Then I realized that I would never look for a soul in a weapon. I then looked at the staff and saw a man in a dark robe that was open in the front revealing what may be armor with books strapped to the armor. I then went to the staff and touched it.
???: You are not worthy!
I was again greeted by the pain.
Me: Damn! This one to.
Cristal: Man that's a bummer. Do you know anyone who might be able to use them?
Me: I seriously doubt the people I know cou-
Then I remembered something. Plague always loved using a whip. But since it couldn't attack multiple enemies she was sort of on and off with it. So it is possible for her to wield the whip. Hunger I think likes magic stuff though i'm not really sure. Oh well worth shot.
Me: Actually I know 2 people who might be able to use these weapons.
Cristal: REALLY?! Do you know where they are?
Me: I have a good estimation on there current location. Though it may take some time.
Cristal: Well we have all the time in the world so it's not a problem.
Me: Actually we have 2 months.
Cristal: Huh? Why do you say that?
I can't really say I need to research some guy and a place to make sure he dies in just the way he's supposed to.
Me: Let's just say I have to meet someone in a few months.
Cristal: Oh, um, okay.
She looks like she knows i'm hiding something but I don't think she knows if it's important or not. But I was too busy with what she said. "We have all the time in the world". Just how long is she going to be with me? If she is serious I may need to kill her or turn her into a reaper.
