=====Vol 2 Chap 10=====
“Yawn.. I’m back here again, huh..”
As always, I’m surrounded by darkness that seemingly doesn’t end.
Floating around for no reason except for waiting, I immediately got bored in just a few moments, which brought the idea of checking my own status menu once again.

“Hahahaha.” I laughed at the high numbers that got me killed once.
If not for the ability called ‘Revival’, I wouldn’t be here today, but I think that Rain would have won by herself.
Ignoring those thoughts, I started imagining scenes where I come back home, where both my parents are home, or one of them, maybe none, nevertheless, it is good to be prepared.
One scenario after another, time passed by in a blink, and finally, a small light could be seen in the distance, marking the end of this ‘otherworldly’ journey..
….
Once my sight came to, I saw myself still standing in front of the bathroom door, illuminated by moonlight.
“Moonlight?” I murmured, noticing the abnormality.
In front of the bathroom there is a wall, and after that wall is a class, so how could light pass through all of that till here?
Then I realized.. That the wall doesn’t exist anymore.
To be specific, the whole corridor and the other side aren’t there, with traces of destruction in their place.
I was confused, even more so when I scanned for any presence nearby, and none was found.
Questions kept popping up, many of them related to war, others related to the night guards who are supposed to be patrolling here, but I knew that none of them will be answered unless I look for them myself.
Staring down on the rubble of cement and wood, I jumped from the 3 floor high building, landing while breaking a few pieces.
Unexpectedly, I felt a tinge of pain once I had landed, getting me even more confused than before.
Realizing something, I quickly, I cast a fireball to confirm whether my worries were true or not, and unfortunately, they were true.
The fireball is both small and dimmer than usual.
Heh, no wonder I felt pain while landing, but to what extent was I weakened? My stat numbers are not to be underestimated with.
I sighed due to the one surprising thing after another, and resolved myself to ignore everything else and head home, anything else comes later.
Slowly walking out of the rubble, I exited the school grounds while trotting over the now fallen walls and checked my surroundings.

One after another, rows of ruined houses were shown, with some standing with only a few sides here and there, or completely obliterated and their fragments scattered on the road.
Ignoring that, I quickly tried to cast a ‘Teleport’ to my house, but unfortunately, it didn’t work, so one more thing that I was worried about was also proven true.
Anywhere that I went before I gained those abilities don’t count as if I visited them before, so I’ll have to once again explore this city all over.
Not wanting to waste any more time, I cast ‘Fly’ on myself, and like a rocket, I shot to the direction of my house, with unease eating me more as I still felt no presences away from the school..
…
After 5 minutes of continuous flight, I was met with the ever so familiar neighborhood, except for the fact that it doesn’t look any different than the houses from before.
Destroyed to no avail, each and every one of them, however, I only moved towards my house with my heart beating at its max.
Quickly, I checked inside my house if there were any traces of bodies or blood, however, nothing was there, making me sigh in relief but regain my anxiety once again.
Where are they, and what happened? Those questions never stopped, making me seek the truth of what happened, and the only way is to meet another person, which I have yet to see.
With nothing more to do in this house, and none of its innards remaining intact, I quietly jumped outside of the rubble, making me see the half-heart necklace that is dancing around my neck.
With a soft, red glow, it made me feel more at ease for some reason, as if Rain was here with me, and that was the only thing I needed to calm down.
Rearranging my priorities, I went back on the road and started walking towards the nearest and usually most populated place in town.
The mall.
I only had a hint of hope lingering about that idea, but nowhere else came up when I thought about the most common places for people to be in, thus I started casting ‘Fly’. But then I paused, noticing that something finally entered my detection radius, making me somewhat happy.
Cancelling the ability, instead, I walked towards them, as they were running in my direction, so we will meet anyways.
After a few seconds of walking, which was not much, I noticed the speed at which they were moving towards me; it was fast.
It was strange, since they weren’t moving on the road, rather, on the former house locations and sometimes going a few meters up high.

Weirded out by it, I take on my stance with a Corromium dagger in hand, and hid behind a wall.
A few more moments and finally, they arrived.. And to my surprise, ‘they’ were not human, in fact, it was something akin to a slime, except for it having the size of a two floor house, and full of tentacles.
With a dirty green colour, it wobbled as if looking for me, however, no matter what it does, it won’t find me since I activated my sneaking abilities.
While moving, the rubble was either eaten or squashed by its huge size, also dissolving with a sizzle and leaving behind a trail of itself.
Inside of it was a crystal blue orb, hidden in the very middle, and if I compare it to the slimes in the former world, it should be able to move it at will, so I should quickly take it out.
Changing the dagger into a bow, I pulled on the metallic string while forming a magic arrow, and wish a swish, it pierced through the slime without stopping and sliced the orb into two before dissipating.
The slime wobbled violently while thrashing the tentacles for two seconds, but with no orb, they can’t function, thus it collapsed on the ground with the help of gravity, turning the ground into a puddle of slime.
But to my surprise, the orb melted into the puddle, spreading through like water being mixed with each other, then suddenly, the puddle shaked and small slimes started forming out of it.
One, two, ten, fifty, and finally stopped at sixty, the slimes stood like an army together, and ran towards my direction.
Sighing, I teleported behind them with my sneak still activated, so the didn’t notice me, making them eat the wall that I was standing behind but finding nothing behind it.
Since I wasn’t there, they stuck to each other, becoming bigger in size until once again, it became the huge slime it was, and roamed towards nowhere in particular.
Seeing how it acts, no wonder there are no living beings in the vicinity, after all, unless the core is somehow taken out of this acidic goo, then it will keep regrowing back.
Then, an idea struck my head, making me ready the bow again, with the difference being that the arrow isn’t just a mere mana arrow, it is an Chilling Arrow.
As per its name, a Chilling arrow is of the Ice element, but the difference between it and a normal Ice Arrow is that once it comes into contact with an object, it explodes, freezing everything in a 5 meter radius.
Of course, with that being said, I retreated further back so the aftereffects won’t damage me, and let go the arrow, making it shoot at a speed faster than sound.
With the whistles of the air being cut, it entered the slime like the arrow before it, and once the orb was touched, a white blinding light erupted, making me unconsciously cover my eyes.
Once the light had subsided, the slime became completely frozen, to the extent that I thought that hitting it lightly will make it crumble.
To test that theory, I get out of my hiding place and move towards it, before thrusting my hand which is clad in corromium into it, piercing the now ice-like slime and capturing the seemingly undamaged orb.
With it in my hand, I got the thought of melting the ice and licking it, but sadly, I overheated the orb, causing it to burn and turn into ashes, and finally, it was defeated, also proven by the level up notification.
Quickly, I picked up the huge frozen fragments of the goo, with the intent to test the usage of it, since the idea of an acidic slime seemed very interesting.
With nothing more to do, I silently flew up high and surveyed where the people might have went, but unfortunately, no one seemed be in the few surrounding kilometers, making me feel slightly disheartened, but I knew there must be a settlement nearby, after all, we humans are very persistent in surviving…
Even though some of the larger buildings survived, most of them were either leaning on each other, others looked as if they were infested by huge fungus.
I don’t know whether it was fortunate or not, since my house was on the outskirts of this city, but it seems that the deeper you head in the city, the higher the amount of danger, as if it were an ‘Outside Dungeon’, but obviously, it isn’t.
After more surveying in other directions, it was decided that I will enter the city, after all, any nearby settlements are at least 50 kilometers away, so before I go visit them, I’d rather search every nook and cranny in here for others.
With that thought in mind, I landed down and started walking deeper in the city, since flying won’t make a different..

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

The Pugilist
Vincent Roy Salazar has never been your common folk. He climbed any mountain he found in front of him. From a bright young student to an accomplished professor, his life can be described as a continuous race to the top of his chosen fields. Patriarch of a loving family, proud father of three already grown siblings, Roy realizes that his life is the perfect picture of what the average man strives for, and for that he is truly grateful. But happiness is a difficult-to-reach goal, and as he lies in a pool of his own blood, his fist cracked, a young lady crying while cradling his head, he remembers what really gave sense to his youth. Pure Unadulterated Violence The Pugilist wants to be a different take on isekai shenanigans. What would happen if instead of a moronic idiot, a depressed high schooler, or a wannabe hero the one to get his do-over is a fully grown man that has already seen what life has to offer in full? Someone who conformed himself to society, but has always craved something different? In a journey of self-discovery, academy building, god-slaying, and absolutely no harem we follow someone driven by logic, experience, and a smokey goal: to fuck shit up, have fun while doing so, and maybe resume his career as a professor for those strange, magic-wielding, unstable youths that seems to never get enough of his presence. Guys, a few notes, first of all, this is my first time writing long-form fiction. I have a background in psychology, and my main income comes from writing dreary financial articles on SEO blogs. But after a bad break-up, and finding myself falling asleep only while thinking of deus ex machina for stories on this site (and for APGTE) I decided to try my hand at this web series thingy. I'm confident in my grammar, but that's it. Everything else will be a first time, and as such any constructive criticism is encouraged and gratefully accepted. Now, on the story. Romance will be introduced once my little heart is mended, if you are scared of LGBT you may be turned off by the fact that I plan to have no taboo of any kind in my universe, but I won't ever write detailed sex scenes for any characters so don't worry too much. The litRPG part is very light and will take place later in the novel, but it's a key component nonetheless, for world-building and storyline reasons. I already have everything big planned out, so I won't drop it outta nowhere, and I hope you won't find too many flaws in how things pan out. I plan to make The Pugilist an interactive story, with secondary characters created by my audience and introduced after tweaks and careful planning. The main reason I'm writing this is that I want to build a community for myself in this time of isolation. I discovered that exercising, playing the piano or video games means jack-shit when you are utterly miserable, so I hope to give some value to my readers in exchange for praise, fame, money, and companionship. I give full props to anyone who has read this whole mess of a synopsis: I hope to not disappoint too much, now let's write some more steaming garbage that will be in dire need of editing later on.
