《I Am the "God of Death", Whatever That Means. (Original)》The Pit. Part II. Chapter 39

Vert sits in his empty Underworld and thinks about the situation. He managed to escape the clutches of the God of Creation and is now stuck in his Underworld. Vert knows that if he leaves the Underworld he will be where he originally went into it, so back inside the room with the God of Creation, and he isn't ready for that. He decides to wait a little while for her to hopefully leave the room since she doesn't know how teleporting to the Underworld works.
While in the process of waiting, Vert looks over at Myria and goes into her dream world. As he enters his vision is filled with a large field, and in the middle of the field is a house. Vert walks up to the small house since he does not recognize it so he assumes Myria built it with her powers. Vert approaches the front door and knocks on it. Footsteps are heard coming towards the door and it soon opens with Sekreath being the one who opened it.
"Hey Sekreath, we need to talk." Vert says.
"Alright come in, Myria is asleep in the bedroom so we can talk in the living room." Sekreath says back to his master while letting him in.
Finally inside, Vert can see that the inside of the house is very warm and cosy with the fireplace on and several candles lit around the room. Sekreath walks to the right when he lets Vert in and Vert follows him to a set of couches. Vert sits on the couch to the left while Sekreath sits on the one to the right. Vert looks up at Sekreath and begins to ask the questions he has been wanting to ask.
"So... You know who the one is who planted false memories into my head, correct?" Vert asks and Sekreath nods his head 'Yes'.

"It was a combined effort from me, The God of Dragons, and the God of Creation. We are all a part of an organization called Hope and wanted to kill as many unfound Gods as possible, in hopes to progress ourselves to finish the achievements. Tia created the device to change your thoughts, The God of Dragons sent Emeralda to put them in you, and I was the one who was supposed to finish you off."
Vert lets out a loud 'Tsk' as he now knows who is the one he has been wanting to kill for a while, but he doesn't know if he will be able too. For some reason, Vert has felt so weak lately and he can't understand why. When thinking about what is wrong with his body and Sekreath can tell that something is wrong.
"What is the matter? Anything I can help with?" Sekreath asks.
"Well, it has just been it feels like my power is draining, ever since my fight with you I have felt weaker and weaker as the days go by. Do you have any explanation for this?"
Sekreath is surprised to hear this and puts a hand on his chin to rub it while he thinks. Sekreath snaps his fingers when he realizes what is going on.
"Have you really killed anybody since then? I mean like a whole town's worth of people."
Vert starts to think to himself and remembers the group of bandits he killed but that's about it. Sure, that made him feel a little better but what does killing anyone got to do with Vert getting his power back. Vert stares at the fire when thinking this and suddenly realizes what is going on.
'I have also been drawn to other people's death, could it be that killing someone gives me more power?!'

Vert looks back at Sekreath and Sekreath nods his head yes as if he had read Vert's mind. Knowing this now changes everything. Vert doesn't have to wait to regain his strength or heal his injuries, he just has to kill a lot of people, and there are a lot of candidates for that right outside the portal. Vert doesn't plan on just getting back at Tia but at the whole organization of Hope. Not for just tricking him and trying to steal his powers but on the fact that they are going around killing random, young God Candidates.
Vert thanks Sekreath and leaves the house, letting Sekreath go to back to sleep. He leaves the dream world completely afterwards and mentally prepares himself for what is to come ahead. The darkness around Vert twists and bends back into a familiar room that is no longer on fire. Two Gnomes stand in the corner with bright red objects in their hands that are spraying white stuff everywhere. Vert takes no time and walks over to the Gnomes silently. He goes unnoticed and grabs both of them by the head and smash them into the floor. Their skull cave in and a horrendous sound of bones crushing echoes throughout the hallway.
With 2 new deaths comes two new souls, which Vert sucks into his eye and sends into the Underworld. Vert got little power for killing the two Gnomes but it wasn't enough to really show any difference.
'Maybe it has to be stronger creatures, or maybe even a bigger volume of creatures.'
The God of Death walks out of the room where he had killed the two Gnomes and sees the hallway that Goreck had led him through. He walks back down it and sees a room that Vert was particularly interested in before. Many Gnomes littered the room, crafting rings that Vert still doesn't know what they do. Wanting to see his power come back to him, vert readies his hand and his favorite spell. A Gnome notices Vert standing at the door but it is too late, bright blue lightning bursts into the room and hits 13 Gnomes, chaining from one to another. All of their hearts explode when touched by the lightning and the rest of the Gnomes are paralysed by fear. Vert goes into the room with his fists and goes on a murderous rampage, killing 37 Gnomes in total.
Vert can feel a small tinge of power come into his body when as he kills the final Gnome and he looks around at the mess he has created. 3 Gnomes are splattered against the wall and several of them had their heads punched and exploded. Vert takes in the sights and smells of pure Death and can feel a massive surge of power enter his body. He feels the same as when he originally was in his room. In pure bliss.
Something is different though, Vert can feel no remorse as he kills these Gnomes, but something nags the back of his head. Whenever he killed people who entered his room, Vert felt no power from their corpses but now he is surging with power. He thinks about it for a second and realizes what it is. Back then, he had very little reason or conviction to kill those people, but now he is killing for a reason, for a purpose. That purpose is revenge.

Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Black Meridian
Here's a fact about humans: They are intelligent, versatile creatures with a tendency for murder and vice. Zeta, a swordsman from a villa at the summit of Greenwich Mountain, has heard many stories about the "Sigma World," the colloquial term for any and all things superpowered in the world. He's also heard of the many tragedies, as well as the many wonders humankind has created in its history, even if he has yet to see it in person. Following the philosophy of his teacher, Gin Kagan, Zeta intends to become a "Servant of Humanity," in an endeavor to protect mankind from its gravest threats, from power-hungry sigma-users, but most importantly, from itself. He's going to need a lot of allies to pull that off, even if he doesn't understand that just yet. This story is originally published at www.sigmacentral.wordpress.com.
