《I Am the "God of Death", Whatever That Means. (Original)》Connecting Over Time. Chapter 2

"'Cause day and night. The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at night. He's all alone somethings will never change. The lonely loner seems to free his mind at night."
Vert is singing "Day n Nite" by Kid Cudi while sitting on his usual, blood stained rock. He starts to smell a rotting and decaying smell of several corpses and then Vert remembers what had happened a few days ago.
'Oh that's right, I have to loot them before they are eaten by the dungeon. *Tsk* This woman had a small one inside of her, that's like the fifth time this has happened. I wonder why?'
The God of Death begins boringly to take the clothes off the adventurers while still singing his never ending music. Once they are all naked, the floor beneath them opens wide like a mouth and swallows everything whole. Vert throws all of the things he thinks is valuable onto his continually growing treasure pile. As Vert does this meaningless task of making his treasure pile bigger, he can hear a raspy and wheezing voice on the other side of his door.
'Oh great, I just cleaned up the other ones too. There is only one, maybe they were with the other ones... Ohhhh, what's this.' Vert thinks to himself, full of curiosity at what is before him.
Vert senses the aura of the person that has entered his room and it is not an aura of fighting, but more of fear. They don't even seem to be the same race as the others either. Vert doesn't really know what it is, he has only fought humans but this one has scales on their body.
"Ehhhhhhh~!"
The thing begins to screech as it sees Vert. Vert slightly cringes at the loud screech and covers his ears in annoyance. Shaking his head for a second to get rid of the pestering ringing left after the screech, vert finally starts to get a good look at the thing before him.
'Is that... A tail? She looks human, about 5'6 and long blonde hair. Her cheeks are scaled though. The scales seem to shimmer with a dark green color. Her eyes are a bright pink color and her pupils are slits compared to the circles that humans have. She has a bigger chest compared to the others but wouldn't that just get in the way of fighting? *Tsk* Inconvenient.'
The creature has its back against the wall and begins to cry as it stares at Vert with nothing but fear. Vert begins to slowly walk towards the thing with his sharpened gauntlets ready to kill it. The song he was singing had been stopped due to the presence inside of his room, and she needs to pay for this with her life. The creature begins to cower under Vert as he stands over her. Vert is 6'5 so he is taller than the average being.

"I'll do anything! Anything at all! Just please don't kill me!"
Vert is immediately taken aback by what the creature just said. The reason for this is because he actually understands her. All the other people speak in a language he can not comprehend but she is speaking the same language as Vert. As Vert tries to speak to the creature, more people burst through the door before he can.
"Where is she?! I paid 18 gold coins just to have my sex slave run away-!"
As one of the men started yelling in Vert's room, he is cut off by a magical voice pulling him up into the air. The man struggles and kicks at the mystical force pulling him into the air and he turns he glance towards the God of Death himself. Vert laughs as he forms his raised hand into a fist and the man's head explodes.
'Someone to talk to... Hahahahah, finally. After so long I will not be alone. I won't have to live in this eternal hell by myself anymore!'
Vert begins to walk towards the other four with the glowing eyes of a mad man. His hysterical laughter echoes throughout the room and resonates with the 4 men's souls. The air smells like blood and the 4 other men began to vomit. Apparently, the sight of their friend's head exploding is too much for them. One of the four horrified looking men looks is met with a sudden strike of Vert's fist to his terror stricken face. A massive hole is created in the man's face and his brain splatters all over the others. They begin to crawl backwards as Vert has a demonic smile on his face accompanied with the horrifying laughter.
'I can't hold back! Someone to talk to and to listen to music with! This feeling surging through me. Is this "happiness" that I hear about all the time in the songs?!'
Vert appears before one of the men and sticks his hands into their head and rips them in half with ease. One of the men faints as the other one begins shrieking in pure horror.
'Ew, what a putrid sound.'
"Silence."
Vert says the word to his spell and the shrieks of terror are ended with the sound of squishing. The man's throat had exploded and his vocal cords were ripped out by a magical force. The final man is passed out on the floor, laying down in his own urine.
Vert walks up to him and stomps his foot on the man's head. The head is easily squashed under the force of Vert's metal boots and his blood is sent throughout the room.

Vert turns back to the creature. She isn't looking at Vert in fear but in fact amazement. Vert closes the distance between them in an instant and is in front of the creature again. This startles the creature and it lets out a small whelp of being surprised.
"Your name, what is it?"
"My n-n-name? It is Emeralda."
"Alright, I am Vert. What are you and how did you get here?"
"I am a female of the Draconic race. I was sold by my father as a peace offering to the human kingdom, then I was bought by the 13th Hero which he tried using me as a sex slave. Before he could do anything to me, he was sent to the dungeon to help conquer the 7 godly beings and claim the power to become a god. I was told to come with him and to "keep him company" on his journey. As soon as some monsters attacked our camp I ran away and ended up here."
Vert has never heard of this "claim the power to become a god himself", but that isn't important right now.
"Where is this "Hero"?"
"Right there."
As the teary-eyed Emeralda points to the pathetic corpse of the first man Vert killed, Vert remembers how he had easily use his Death magic on this so-called "Hero". He looks back at Emeralda, who is beginning to cry as she remembers her past and what has happened to her, so he goes to gently pat her head.
As Vert lifts his hand, Emeralda winces as if he is going to hit her but is surprised when his hand gently caressed her head. She looks up at Vert and can feel something start to burn in her chest. Emeralda realizes what has happened. She has imprinted on the man who saved her. Imprint is when you meet the one you are destined to be with for forever, and it rarely happens within the solitary life for the Draconic race. A thought crosses her mind and the Draconic lady decides to confront the Death God.
"How can you understand me?"
"I don't know, we speak the same language so I thought it was obvious? Anyways, with the threat being gone and you seemingly being fine now, do you know what music is?" Emeralda nods her head up and down to show that their is some knowledge of music within her head.
Most people in the world couldn't speak Draconic so that is why Emeralda is extremely confused. She also barely knows anything about music but Emeralda has heard it a few times. The Draconic lady particularly likes the piano.
Vert thinks about all the songs he could listen to and decide to listen to "That's what I like" by Bruno Mars. He begins walking back to his rock while singing to his newly found companion. She has a very perplexed expression on her face and can't understand the sounds that fills her ears.
The song goes on and Emeralda can feel happiness seep into her body. She can't tell where it was coming from, but she thinks it is from the foreign type of music Vert is playing. As the end of the song is coming near, Vert couldn't help himself and starts singing as loud as possible to the catchy tune.
"You say you want a good time. Well here I am, baby, here I am, baby. Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me. Talk to me, tell me what's on your mind. What's on your mind? If you want it, girl, come and get it. All this is here for you. Tell me baby, tell me, tell me baby. What you tryna do?!"
As the final chorus comes up, Emeralda begins clapping to the singing performance laid out by her savior, ultimately interrupting him and killing the groove of the song. Vert just looks down at the woman with an annoyed look.
"If you're gonna interrupt my music, then I will have to kill you. I kept you as someone to talk to and for me not to be alone all the time. I am not afraid to kill you and not feel bad about it. You need to know your place, you are basically a pet to me."
Emeralda face is turned into one of fear again after hearing this statement. She has basically been deemed near worthless in Vert's eyes. Then again he is the God of Death, but Emeralda will not just sit idle by and be considered his pet. She wants to be more than that.
Emeralda begins stirring a plan in her brain to be upgraded to the stage of friend. She isn't confident in her singing voice and her strength in fighting is nothing compared to the literal God of Death, but there is something she has that other women don't.
'I can use my body.... Actually, what would a God want with me, maybe we can just connect more over time.'
Emeralda sighs as Vert's music continues on and he goes back to singing, acting like making a death threat to someone was a daily occurence to him.

Souls of Savagery
Souls of Savagery is a series of short stories intended to function much like a comic book series. However, to experience the complete story in a logical order you should read the volumes in numerical order, starting of course, with Volume 1: A Bloodbath by Any Other Name. Each volume is told from a single point of view and that will change from volume to volume. Though, the narrative will require later volumes to return to characters that have been featured previously. I hope you enjoy.
