Chapter 17|| New Agreement
"Kukukukuku welcome to my pocket dimension, tell me do you still think I'm unworthy to be your master, little Sen."
Hearing these words kai and tara simply could not fathom it. They're eyes opened as wide as possible. Sen however seeing this felt a bit irritated at ryyla, but at the same time he knew how much a pocket dimension might come in handy in the future so with a smile he said.
"I've decided ryyla you will teach me but what I want to learn the most about is this dimension of yours ."
Ryyla laughed at sens quick turn around, but she knew that she had him hook line and sinker.
"Ho so now you wish to learn from me, but this magic I can't teach you. What should I do I wonder kukuku."
"You."
"Me what, call me master and I shall teach you."
Sen irritated by this thought for a while before coming to a decision.
"No, I will not call you master."
"What then I will not teach you."
Ryyla stuck her tongue out at sen, kai and tara both looked at sen with looks of relief they too weren't very fond of ryyla. If she herself didn't want sen then they could be on their way to Cordel, but how to leave this place they did not know .It was then that sen said something that stunned them both.
"You will teach me or you will die."
Hearing sens words kai and tara looked on with shock.
"Sen what are you saying to ryyla, kai please say something."
Kai could only look on with a bit of fright, ryylas pressure was going up around her at a dreadful rate and kai still could not see the depths of her power.
Ryylas expression became grim her arms folded and the pressure around her greatly increased causing kai and tara to take several steps backwards. Ryyla deepened her voice and in a calm menacing tone she bellowed.
"You dare threaten to kill me little one, tell me boy how could you possibly even lay a scratch upon me let alone take my life."
Sen furrowed his brow and he as well answered in a calm manner.
"I never claimed to have the ability to kill you I simply said you would die. As to how, well, you yourself established the blood contract and we all know what happens when someone breaks it, death ."
Ryylas pressure immediately dropped and a wild smirk appeared on her face.
"Kukukuku death you say, by the blood contract kukuku."
Ryyla quickly waved her hand and tara and kais contracts appeared out of thin air. She then sent a blade of wind towards the contracts shredding them both in seconds, she then laughed even louder.
"Hahahahaha you think a blood contract could harm me there's no way that would ever be so ."
Ryylas grin became wider and wider.
"Because I am the inventor of blood contracts ."
Hearing this statement kai and tara nearly crumbled to their knees. If what she said was true then the inventor of blood contracts that would make ryyla over 800 years old. They both knew that elves could live long lives, but at most that was 300 or 400 years not 800 how was this possible.
Was she immortal? Sen as well did not expect this but looking at ryyla he couldn't help but smile. Ryyla noticing this stopped laughing and looked on at sen in curiousity she asked.

"What, what is it, why are you smiling after finding out you can't harm me. Has your brain become corroded with indecent thoughts ."
Sens grin became bigger at ryylas silly comments she hasn't even noticed has she.
"Do you not know."
"Do I not know what?"
"Dad id say your welcome, you owe me one."
Kai stumped at his son's words looked between him and ryyla a few times and like a light going off in his head it clicked.
"Ah, the contracts she shredded them tara we're free ."
Tara, just now realizing this as well together her and kai began to laugh joyfully.
"Hahaha."
Ryyla now figuring it out herself boiled with rage she was about to go crazy but the more she thought about it the more she wanted the boy.
"Kukukukuku, boy so interesting, fine ill teach you, but you have to call me mighty one."
"Nope."
"What, then, then, how about the greatest."
"Not gonna happen, now if you would be so kind as to let us out of this weird place we'd much appreciate it."
Ryyla's POV
"what can I do what can I do I must have him but how ?"
"Okay okay, ill teach you this dimensional magic so will you please be my disciple?"
"Hmm you say you'll teach me now I wonder should I accept?"
Kai and tara were both looking at sen shaking their heads and pleading no with their eyes, but sen just ignored them. The pocket dimension was just too irresistible, but he needed more he needed answers.
"Will you still call me little one?"
"No no of course not."
"Does my father have a debt with you?"
Ryyla looked towards kai, the bracelet to her was worthless she could make as many as she wanted they were nothing to her."
"No, no debt, the bracelet is a gift from me for my future disciples parents."
"And what about my mana core can you tell me why it's different?"
"I.....I can't, but if you let me study you a bit I'm sure I'll find the answers ."
"Hmm very well then, but how will we make sure you keep your end of the bargain you said it yourself blood contracts do not work on you. How am I supposed to trust someone so weird."
Ryyla was giving him everything yet he still wanted a guarantee was her word not good enough.
"There is another way something that I cannot break ."
"Oh and what is that?"
"A soul contract ."
Kai perked up curiously.
"Hmm, soul contract whats that?"
"It is a contract between two souls, a piece of my soul is transferred to you and a piece of your soul to me where it will reside next to our original souls. If one were to break it the piece in the other person will absorb mana from the inside of the body and then self destruct, destroying that small piece as well as whoever it's in."
Sen looked on in confusion as he tried to process this new found information.
"How does that work?"
"No one knows for sure but like the blood contract only one can break it and that's god."
"How do I know your not lying?"
Kai and sen both looking confused. Tara was the first to speak up.
"What she said is true when I was a child that's what we were taught in the church of light. The priestess told us that a soul contract was part of the natural laws of the world and that only god can break it, but sen you shouldn't do it. We should all just leave and go meet my mother in cordel, we'll be safe there."

"No mother we won't think about it. Region knights are looking for us they have your and dads faces and the rate in which they found you was simply too fast. They may even already know where you're headed.
Plus if we use ryylas magic we could hide. Even if we were to make it to Cordel my eyes are still red even if we travel to a different continent how do you know we won't be persecuted there. This is our best option and if you say that ryylas not lying well then I'm inclined to take this offer."
Tara and kai both looked upset because they both knew sen wasn't exactly wrong. The region knights did have their picture and worse there was no guarantee they could make it to their destination nor that they would be protected once they reached said destination. But this ryyla woman clearly just wanted to use sen for her own gains. What could they do, tara looked saddened but then sen spoke up.
"Mom it's alright."
Hearing these exact same words from sen just like from when the lightning struck, a calm warmth came over her and for the first time in a long while she felt a sense of hope well up in her heart. She took kai's hand and with a bright smile.
"Kai lets trust sen."
"But tara this ryyla only wishes to use him its clear as day how can we let this happen?"
"Kai, sen knows this, haven't you heard the way he speaks. He knows what he's doing he's already proven how strong he can be let's trust his judgement."
Kai didn't know what to say he's never been a smart man and when he had first met tara he had been so very lucky. He knows that sen is intelligent probably smarter than he is now but for a father to listen to their child he had but one question.
"Sen when we were on our way to freyor every day you would lift a leaf or a pebble, tell me what were you doing, were simply playing or something else ?"
Sen with a resolute look said.
"Training."
Right then and there kai knew his son was determined. His son would be great and his son was absolutely right he decided to trust his sons judgment and more importantly he decided to trust his wife's.
"Ok son, whatever you decide right now ill support you."
"Thanks."
Sen paused momentarily thinking hard about something.
"Okay ryyla, I will be your student but with a few conditions."
Ryyla finally getting her way was overjoyed, she's never felt like this in her entire life and from the bottom of her heart she truly wanted sen as a disciple. She hurriedly agreed.
"Yes yes, whatever you want just tell me."
"First I want to know everything about this pocket dimension as well as how to create one myself."
"Yes okay go on."
"Second, not only will you teach me you will also teach my mother wind magic and my father light magic."
This was easy enough, she quickly nodded her head. Meanwhile tara was so happy she wanted to cry, all her life she's only wanted one thing more than anything else and that was the chance to use magic. Now her son has opened a door in her heart that she long ago had shut and locked. The happiness she felt was almost comparable to the day she found out she was pregnant.
Kai as well only looked delighted he was a warrior, but he could not get past the 5th rank. Growing up he's only ever wanted to become strong and while training he noticed that no matter what he did no matter how much he struggled and trained.
He could not break through to the 6th rank but now with magic it may one day be possible. Would he give up the sword of course not, but with magic at his side as well his strength would only increase. He soon played out fantasy's in his mind where he defeated monsters with his sword as well as with magic, a stupid grin slowly formed on his face.
"Third you will teach me until I decide I'm satisfied not when you are, and fourth you will not call me little, I am sen do you understand."
"Yes yes is that it."
"For now yes."
"Then we can start the procedures immediately."
Sen nodded and ryyla quickly turned over her hand and as she did a little furry creature appeared in her hand it was the size of a fist. It was covered in soft fur with a long tail the length of which was the same as a small child's arm its features were that of a cat.
Kai quickly shouted and jumped back.
"What is that disgusting creature ?"
Ryyla quickly pointed it towards kai and as she did he once more jumped back this time directly behind tara, and as he peeked over her shoulder he once more shouted out.
"Keep that nasty little thing away from me or ill kill it."
"Sorry, kai is a bit afraid of cats."
"Oh, kukuku ."
"I'm, I'm not afraid, it's just that they're disgusting that's all."
Sen could not believe it once more he saw something unsightly no boy should ever witness from their father.
Sen's POV
"A man hiding behind his woman's back pathetic."
"Hahahahaha this is not a cat you fool its a wisper ."
"I don't care what you call that thing just keep it back you hear me."
"Hahaha, fine fine, no sense in prolonging things, sen this is a wisper. They normally live in deep mountains they're among some of the rarest little creatures you'll ever see ."
"Why do you have one?"
"Simple they help keep monsters away as well as soul suck, it's one of their special abilities
"Oh, I see so this is how we will form a contract."
"Correct, you are smart, this little creature is mine so he will only take as much of the soul as I wish. If he were a wild one then he would take every bit of one's soul, killing them without fail."
Kai and tara both thought how dreadful.
"Hmm, interesting shall we start."
Ryyla nodded and approached sen and tara, as she did kai immediately jumped back dozens of meters. Ryyla picked up the wisper and gently whispered something into its ear it then looked at her and nodded. She held the wisper up to her chest and the wisper put its small lips to her chest and its body began to glow a bright pink.
After a few seconds its body expanded to nearly double it's size ryyla then placed the wisper next to sens chest and its body gradually shrunk. As ryylas piece soon went into him ryylas legs trembled for a moment.
*phew*
"Ok, my piece has gone into you and is settling near your soul as we speak now it's time to collect a piece of yours sen. When my wisper does this in your soul you will feel his presence you must grant him permission or this will not work do you understand ?"
"I get it now come."
Ryyla simply sighed and once more put her wisper next to sens chest in order for it to take a piece of his soul. As the wisper made contact it easily felt sens soul, but as it tried to draw out a piece. The wisper immediately jumped backwards several feet away taking a stance on all four feet and started hissing wildly.
"I don't understand I gave it permission, is this suppose to happen?"
Ryyla was shocked she never encountered something like this before. She quickly picked up the wisper and in some unknown language started to converse with it, after a few minutes the wisper calmed down and their conversation ended.
"What is it is something the matter ."
*sigh*
"Your soul, it really is different."

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
