Ch 32|| Chamber to The Crown
Ryyla looked at Sen and saw the look of excitement in his eyes, she couldn't help but sigh. She knew that once she said it there was no going back. She looked Sen right in the eyes and said.
"The Mage's Crown."
The three looked at Ryyla with curious gazes. None of them had ever heard of such a treasure before. True they've heard of enchanted swords and armors and such things like that but never a crown magic treasure. Hearing of treasure especially one so amazing made Kai grow rather excited. It reminded him of his adventuring days where he and his friends would dive into ancient ruins and explore treasure caves and other sorts of adventures, he couldn't help but ask.
"So this crown, do you have it?"
Kai and Tara both looked on with expectant eyes, to be able to see something so powerful and so rare excited them both from the bottom of their hearts.
"Dad, if she did don't you think she would have used it already for her mother?"
Kai and Tara both realized that this was true. If she had such a treasure she would have used it long ago for her mom. Not only that with such a thing it wouldn't be strange if she ruled the world, but neither of these things was so.
*sigh*
"Sen's right I don't have such a treasure, but if I did I wouldn't hesitate for even a moment to bring my mother back ."
"Then is it your father who has it?"
Kai once again asked, but Ryyla simply shook her head no.
"The truth is I don't think anyone has it. You see, within the book there are depictions of what appears to be a map to the crown and when I and Lyyla followed it, well we found something odd."
"What did you find?"
"Underneath the ruin there was a large empty chamber and inside there was only one thing. A large black stone that is entirely covered in an ancient dead language and on this stone it says, "Aperire ostium, accipere divinitatem" Which after years I finally managed to translate to "Open the door, receive divinity" which I'm certain means open the door and receive the treasure ."
"And what does any of that have to do with your sister wanting my eyes."
"Let me finish, at the bottom of this black boulder there are two more words that say. "Cibo industria." Which in turn translates to, feed it power. I believe that the stone is a portal and in order to open it you must feed it your mana, this is the conclusion I came to long ago ."
"Teacher if what you're saying is true then how come your father hasn't opened it yet? You're not telling me that even though he was in that ruin first he never discovered that chamber."
"No, he did indeed find it, but since he began his hunt so long ago his body has once again changed. At one point, me and Lyyla managed to catch up to our father and for the first time he was clear-minded. It seems after each dragon's mana stone he consumes his mind clears temporarily for maybe a few days. At that moment we managed to find him, he told us that since he collected more mana stones he initially wanted to use them to become stronger."

"So instead of absorbing them slowly by being in their presence, since that would take way to long. He substituted to eat them instead. He did indeed grow stronger, but in it, he lost nearly all his mana. His body evolved to the point where it no longer required mana. He couldn't even use his dimensional magic anymore. He could only use a bit of his light magic. Do you remember that storm over Freyor, the day Sen used the lightning."
"Of course, how could any of us forget. If it weren't for you Ryyla as well as my son we would have died ."
Kai said with the utmost sincerity, he may be foolish, but he would never forget when someone had saved his life. That was one of the reasons he agreed to let Ryyla marry his son. He felt he owed her and he knew Ryyla may be weird, but she really did care for Sen. How could Kai as a father ignore someone doting over his son.
"Do you remember when I said that the storm was caused by a dragon?"
The three nodded in unison.
"Well, that dragon was Azeuris and my father was chasing him that day."
Everyone's eyes were wide with shock, Sen shot up and asked.
"You mean to say that dragon was still alive, how? Without a mana stone isn't that almost like destroying a dragon's lifeline. Once their mana quickly fades away until there's none left. how does a king of dragons remain in power with no magic."
"In my fathers clarity he had told me that he eventually encountered Azeuris again and that even though his magic wasn't very strong somehow his body had gotten stronger. My father believed that after he stole Azeuris's mana stone that Azeuris himself consumed one of his own kind's mana stone's. Possibly the one from his dead lover, but in doing so he grew stronger whilst also losing nearly all his magic and now not only my father, but Azeuris as well knows the secret of the mana stones. They themselves are racing to consume the most amount of stones as to increase their power. Now there are less than 10 dragons left in the world ."
Kai had only recently found out about the existence of dragons, but he was disgusted one would slaughter its own kind to gain power.
"Azeuris would kill his own kind for strength how despicable ."
"Yes, and their competition has brought the dragon population nearly to extinction. The reason why Azeuris was fleeing is because he still isn't quite as strong as my father, but if he manages to devour a few more then who knows for sure where his power will be. I just hope when they finally do clash they do it nowhere near me."
At the end of Ryyla's sentence, the sound of contempt could be heard in her voice. Almost as if she wanted the two to kill each other so it could finally be over.
"So then what's so bad about Lyyla wanting to use me for that portal in the ancient ruin chamber."
"Sen, honestly I don't know what would happen to you. I can only tell you what happened to Lyyla when she fed it her power and what it almost did to me."
Everyone looked on curiously and in the back of Sen's mind he was hoping this story wouldn't be as long as her father's story was.

"After I deciphered the language me and Lyyla immediately went back to the underground chamber. Lyyla was more than excited and me as well, I was full of hope. She eagerly placed her hand upon the black stone and directly channeled her mana out into the stone and as she did everything seemed calm and fine. The center of the stone started to emit a faint green light and small streams of silver soon started to circle the stone like a whirlpool."
"It seemed exactly the same as regular dimensional magic, but then like a switch being flipped everything went wrong. The stone turned a dark crimson red and soon started devouring Lyyla's mana at a terrible rate and as it did the stone glowed a deeper and deeper red. Lyyla tried to remove her hand from the stone, but it was stuck like glue. I as well pulled on her trying to forcefully separate her from it, but nothing was working."
" I finally decided to use some wind magic and cut the stone up with wind blades, but that as well didn't work. The stone absorbed all of my wind, directly converting it into pure mana. Right before my wind blades hit the stone just kept turning them to mana and absorbing them. By this time Lyyla passed out from having nearly all of her mana sucked from her and she quickly slumped over unconscious, but even then her hand was still glued to this stone."
"The stone then vibrated incredibly fast and a red and black portal started forming. It was almost the size of a fist, inside of it was completely pitch black and the faint sound of screaming could be heard on the other side. Inside of it I couldn't be sure, but in that abyss it looked as if two red eyes were peering at me. Seeing them I froze in terror and it felt like my soul was getting torn out of me. The pain was like nothing I ever felt before, but no matter how much I tried to resist, it continued to pull at my soul. I truly thought that I was going to die and there was nothing I could do about it."
Sen hearing this couldn't believe it, Ryyla as well had seen the eyes in the abyss, but he himself sees the eyes in his own mind and she too felt the soul tearing pain. What did this mean? now more than ever Sen wanted to investigate that place. He had to know or it would haunt him forever. What is that abyss and what are those eyes?
"But that's when it happened."
*Swoosh*
"My father appeared seemingly out of nowhere and severed my sisters hand. The hand itself was quickly sucked into the portal and as it flew in my father shouted out. "FUCK OFF!!" He then punched the portal with so much strength that the portal trembled violently before imploding. It knocked me and my sister back and as I hit the wall I soon fell unconscious. When I awoke my father was already gone and my sister was regenerating her hand, she yelled at me."
"What happened?"
"Even though I explained to her many times for some reason she wouldn't listen to me. She kept saying that I must have done something wrong and so she attempted it again, but I immediately jumped in her path."
"Move."
"No, if you do it again that, that thing will take you."
"I don't believe you, now move."
The two started to struggle until Ryyla opened a portal and pushed Lyyla in, trapping her in one of Ryyla's special dimensions. there she had complete control over the dimension and wouldn't allow Lyyla out.
"Is that why you two don't talk ?"
*sigh*
"That's one of the main reasons yes, but I let her out after a few years."
"A few years, why let her out at all, wouldn't she just go back to that chamber and try again?"
"Kukuku that's what this little baby is for."
Ryyla flipped over her hand and a small crystal appeared out of nowhere. It was the size of a finger that was dyed an emerald green. It shined in her palm and for some reason it seemed to be vibrating constantly.
"Teacher what the heck is that thing?"
"Hehe, this little invention is a dimensional jammer. During the time I had my sister locked up, I invented this little gadget and as the name suggest it jams dimensional magic."
"What, how is that possible?"
"Hehehe yep and it's actually quite simple. Anybody that knows anything about dimensional magic can make one if they really put their mind to it, but since my sisters an idiot she'll never figure out how it works."
"Teacher, so how does it work ?"
"Simple really, as you know dimensional travel is made of 4 main steps light, deconstruct, movement and reconstructing. This device I made goes off some of those steps to basically counter dimensional travel aka teleporting. When a person teleports, their body is coated in a protectant light then deconstructed to something the naked eye can't even see, then it's moved as fast as light and reconstructed on the other side."
"Basically I set one of these up in the ruin and when someone reaches the ruin before there reconstructed, like a boomerang they are sent back to their leaving point and reconstructed there instead. My jammer vibrates at such a level that it distorts space within a few miles. Now you can't actually see that, but if you were to try and teleport from there you just wouldn't be allowed to. In order to travel you need to control light and space, but this device bends the surrounding light and space not allowing anyone without permission to use it."
"So then how do you get in?"
"Like I said, it only allows those who have permission. I fused some of my blood with it so when I teleport there this device can recognize me and allow me to enter or anyone else I give permission to."
Once again everyone was surprised because Ryyla usually acts weird they sometimes forget that she is truly a genius.
"So does that mean you'll let me go there?"
"What."
Everyone stared at Sen in shock, even after her story of a creature hidden within the portal he still wanted to go, Tara couldn't help but shout .
"No Sen you can't, you almost died the other day I can't let you."
"Mother, I need to know more about that stone, there is something about it that draws my curiosity."

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.

The Curio Shoppe
Kellan Klein is an ordinary college student with an average, if traumatic and painful past. Everyone grows up grappling with depression and anxiety that seem to be genetic in a house with parents that, while loving, fight all the time and have weird ideas about what kids should and shouldn't do, right? Everyone deals with bullying, racism, judgement on their romantic inclinations and their family's economic status and just general shittiness, right? All of Kellan's friends sure did, and for all of them, entertaiment media were a welcome escape from their painful, dreary lives. After all, who wouldn't want to sail the seas with Monkey D. Luffy and the Strawhats, or help Meng Hao con increasingly powerful and influential people, or join Cecil Harvey and his friends on their weird journey to save the world, or make friends with Peter Parker while pretending to not know he was everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero? Kellan certainly wanted to, and while he pursued college to seek out a career he saw himself enjoying, something felt inexplicably empty about his life. So when a decidely sinister force kidnaps him and the prettiest man he's ever seen saves his life and offers him his wildest dreams, Kellan becomes the shopkeeper of a mysterious, dimension hopping shop, complete with a system that helps him acquire items. abilities, materials, and other cool shit to stock it with, as well as some other neat perks. Will Kellan become a boring overpowered MC, like the kind from web fiction that he reads to sate his boredom? Will he keep his generally kind, sweet nature despite the shit he's gone through and will go through, or will he inexplicably become a scary, violent, irrational arrogant douchebag? Will he use his newfound abilities to explore the multiverse and improve the lives of himself and others, or will he become his own antithesis, a purely mercantile jerk obsessed with money and profit, with no concern for anything that doesn't help or hurt his business? Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz

THIRTEEN (Evie's Perspective)
This is the 2003 movie, Thirteen, told from the perspective of Evie Zamora. We got Tracy's point of view, but what about Evie? Why did she do the things she did?I've seen a few different interpretations of Evie's perspective and I decided to give it a go. This is how I think Evie thought and the reasons behind why she did the things she did. This is NOT canon, just a fanfiction, and I am not affiliated with Thirteen or Catherine Hardwick in any way.
