CH 39
"Die!!
The panther-like beast man roared out and then charged forth once again directly towards Sen, but the speed was nothing like before. Like a meteor racing across the sky, Sen had to immediately use the APB on his wrist to just barely dodge the blow. In doing so, a huge crater was opened up where the panther landed. Sen couldn't help but inhale a few cold breaths of air. Large beads of sweat formed upon his forehead and his heart felt as though it were in a vise of terror, once again he nearly died.
"Still trying to run I see. You Fucking human trash, let's see you run from this."
The beast man pointed his spear straight at Sen and with a flash of light 3 bolts of lightning snaked their way at Sen. The small boy was quick but faster than lightning he was not. 1 bolt immediately clashed against his wind armor, but the power of the wind and the power of electricity can not be compared. The first bolt, as well as his armor, exploded with a resounding *BANG* throwing Sen back 30 feet.
Sen just barely managed to land on his feet before the other 2 bolts struck him directly in the chest, each one drilling its way into the depths of his flesh. Tearing and lacerating their way throughout his body causing such damage that Sen immediately vomited out 2 mouth fulls of blood. Even though one of his elements was lightning, the power of the beast mans lightning far surpassed Sens own causing Sen to be injured from just taking 2 bolts.
Sen collapsed to his knees and barely stayed conscious, it was only his willpower keeping him awake. He quickly used his healing to mend his body, the pain of which was far worse then the lightning itself, but Sen could only bear it. As his flesh and tissue began to regenerate the beast man immediately saw this and once more unleashed a bolt of lightning at Sen.
"DIE!!"
As the lightning approached, time seemed to slow to a crawl before Sen's eyes. He saw destruction and chaos arch its way towards him and in the recesses of his mind his thoughts screamed at him to avoid, but he couldn't. The bolt of lightning was simply too fast, he could only sit and wait for his impending doom, but just as the bolt was about to send him to his grave a shadow appeared before him. Quicker then the arch of lightning itself this shadow reached out with open arms and with a furious roar that seemed to split the heavens the shadow screamed out.
"OPEN!!"
Right before the lightning could strike and before everyone else's eyes a light of green and silver tore a hole in space and opened a portal to who knows where. Like a flash the lightning shot in and in another instant like none of it ever happened the portal closed in a wisp of green and silver particles as if it were smoke and vanished into thin air. The lightning was gone.

"Sen are you ok? "
"Teacher?"
The shadow was none other than Ryyla, she was enjoying Sen's display earlier, but as soon as the panther struck out with lightning she knew something was wrong. From the stands, she could feel that this panther had no elemental affinity, but as soon as he chanted and his spear glowed brightly all of the sudden he wielded lightning. Not only did he use lightning but his rank rose immediately to the 10th lvl. Where he got such a magical item left her with nothing but questions but seeing Sen in danger she rushed into action.
Ryyla jumped in as quick as she could, but it was almost too late. For the first time in thousands of years, she felt a fear as well as a blind fury which reached an apex of emotion. She saw herself that Sen nearly died and it hurt her deeply. Even though she had only known him for 10 years she had a connection to him, one that she's never felt with anyone else in her entire life and the fear of losing him brought on many complex emotions, but the emotion that she clearly felt the most, was pure unadulterated rage.
Rage, for this beast man that nearly tore away what she desired the most and Rage for almost taking away someone that she loved. She had already come to a decision within her mind. That no matter what she would most definitely kill this panther beast.
"Sen, I need you to retreat a distance away while I handle this situation. This guy is going to put up a fight and if you're here you'll only be in the way."
Sen had no words to speak, he knew Ryyla was absolutely right and although once more he felt bitter about his own incompetence and weakness he could only nod and leap several hundred feet back. He quickly rose into the air where he would floated so that he could watch from above. At the same time, everyone was still stunned including the panther. He hadn't expected that there would be someone at the 10th lvl who would appear from nowhere and disperse his attack.
He could see now that this woman would interfere with his original goal and therefore she would have to be eliminated now. Without saying anything, the panther leaped at Ryyla bearing his mighty spear. Immediately he began unleashing torrents of lightning strikes from the tip of his spear directly at Ryyla and while Ryyla had an easy time at dodging the attacks, each time she did many innocent people behind her would be charred black from the attacks and die. So instead she opted to open a portal in front of each bolt, but in doing so she was quickly eating up her own magic.
At the exact same time the city lord was sounding off orders left and right. While many people in the crowds were in a state of pure panic they were running all around screaming as though they were chickens with their heads cut off. Many people were pushing and shoving causing people to fall and be trampled as well as many of the exits to become congested and clogged with people.
"Quick quick, get the people to safety."
"My lord we have to get you out first. We'll worry for the people after."
"NO!! my citizens, quickly save them first. I will be fine."
A bit of panic was in the guards voice he could only stress to his lord.

"But my lord your safety must be guaranteed. Please, quickly come with me out of here."
Hearing his order be ignored as well as seeing many of his people die from the panthers wild attacks he angrily yelled at his subordinates.
"No, see to them or I will hold each and every one of you responsible. This is my official order as city lord save them, save my people."
Many of the guards had looks of unwillingness, they knew how kind and benevolent their lord was, but he had given an official order, so while many wanted to see to his well-being they could only obey. So with his order all of the guards sprung into action immediately and the people were quickly evacuated.
The city lord seeing his people being saved returned to a calm demeanor and sighed a small breath of relief. He quickly pulled out a transmitter and sent a message, afterward he leapt from the top of the stands and landed like a boulder onto the ground. The rock cracked beneath his feet forming a small crater and the noise of his landing temporarily distracted the twos fight. The lord looked at Ryyla and in a sincere tone said.
"You must hang on for a little while, help will come."
A bit confused by the old man the two continued their brawl. The city lord in a whispered tone said thank you and with a bit of magic he quickly melded into the ground vanishing into the land itself and quickly reappearing from the ground outside of the arena, he ordered his guards once again .
"Quickly surround the arena, start treating the injured and quickly rescue anyone else in need."
One of the guards quickly ran up and asked with a desperate tone.
"My lord should we attack?"
The city lord shook his head.
"You would only be pointlessly throwing away your lives. All we can do is treat the injured and wait."
"My lord, wait for what?"
The city lord looked at his subordinate and with a serious tone he only said one word.
"Brawn."
Hearing this word the guards recognized it immediately and a look of worship filled their gazes. While some of the guards eyes were set ablaze with admiration others could only swallow with a hard gulp. They could all only wait for the one called Brawn.
Back inside the Battle arena a clash of titans was unfolding. The arena lit up with flashes of light and claps of imposing thunder. Now only 2 beings were within the arena, one beast-man, and 1 half-breed elf and up in the sky above floated 1 small 10-year-old boy. The boy could only watch as the 2 clashed again and again. He wanted so badly to interfere, but he knew if he did he would not only be placing himself in danger, but his teacher as well were she to become distracted due to his presence.
So observe he did. The panther was now at the 10th rank and his speed was like a meteor, but Ryyla was at the 10th lvl as well and she had the element of the wind. So although the panther was fast his movements compared to hers actually seemed quite slow. The fight would already have been over if not for that white spear which he possessed. Bolt after bolt arched out from the tip of his spear snaking its way at Ryyla.
Before she had to open up portals to take the lightning so as to avoid casualties, but since there were no more innocent people around she could simply dodge them. In doing so, she could conserve her mana. Each time the panther would unleash a bolt of lightning he would immediately leap at Ryyla causing craters beneath his feet to appear.
If it was said that Ryyla was fast because she had a wind element then the panther was fast due to pure strength alone add that to him being a warrior and now using lightning like he were a mage, Ryyla couldn't help but ponder if Sen would be this strong when he became an adult. Because he to had the possibility of conquering strength as well as magic.
"Hold still."
The panther roared snapping Ryyla out of her pondering, but still she felt little danger of being beaten. She threw out a quick punch with infused wind pushing the panther back several feet but this panther was persistent each time she would knock him back he would immediately regain his bearings and launch a bolt or two of lightning at her followed by a quick pounce.
Because of this persistence the fight seemed to be at a bit of a stalemate between the two. Ryyla leaped backward once more this time as she did she threw 3 consecutive wind blades at the panther. Each one intending to separate his body in half, but to her surprise the panther didn't even try to dodge but instead took each one head on. As the first blade struck against the panthers armor the panthers steel plated chest armor immediately was sliced apart falling off of him.
As he still just stood there the second and third wind blades struck him directly in the upper chest and lower abdomen, but to her and Sen's shock only 2 loud thuds were heard. As they struck the panthers body not only did her strike cause no damage, but her strike that easily cut through steel as if it were butter didn't even ruffle any of the panthers black fur. The panther released a loud laugh filled with mockery.
"HAHAHA! Was that it? was that the extent of your power? hehehe, let me show you power ."
The panther spun his spear and infused a bit of his mana into it and with a shout his spear tip shined brighter and brighter until it once more reached a near blinding lvl.
"DRAGON STRIKE!!
*KABOOM*
With the beast man's shout, the bolt which came out was multitudes bigger and more powerful. Its circumference was nearly as thick as a horse's body and its power was easily 10 times stronger. Having no time to properly dodge from this sudden attack Ryyla activated her own APB and quickly opened a portal in front of her, but to her shock the portal was not wide enough and although most of the lightning went into the portal at least 10% escaped past both of her sides burning her under her arms and scorching her sides as well. Tearing 2 huge man sized fissures in the arena behind her leaving clear gaps that could be seen from the outside in. She quickly realized her mistake in underestimating him and not going all out sooner, but the damage had already been done.

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.

WARNING: Early chapters are shitty. Mikael was a graduating student when a global summoning transported him inside a forest full of monsters. Inside this place, he met people that would help him reach his goal: to return back on Earth and meet his family. (note: this is my first novel. If you see any errors just tell me and I'll edit it. Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction.
