《The life of a Soldier》Chapter 15: The instructors

Dorian followed Shun as he led the way to wat Shun called his private training chamber. Why he had his own training chamber and did not just train here with the rest of the members was a mystery to him. The thing that bothered him the most was the sheer size of this underground facility. Shun led him through yet another hallway that went even deeper into the earth. Dorian wondered how they had built all of this so deep.
The dwarves build deep into the ground aswell, but the dwarves had special magic of their own category that they refused to share with any outsiders. The magic was extremely closely guarded and there was even an elite dwarven taskforce that went after all people that tried to expose the secret of this magic. Those that were foolish enough to try soon ended up missing, it was quite obvious to everyone that those that tried would end up dead.
The number of people that had been willing to risk everything for this magic had dwindled to nonexistence. Arin had told him about all this, she was from one of few families inn the dwarven cities that specialized in this magic. She had told him she would go back home and master this magic. Stone Shaping, is wat she called it. She told him it was actually something that only dwarves could master. They had a connection to the stone, she herself could ussually feel the stone around her. Not with her skin or anything but just sort of sense its presence.
Maybe this organisation had dwarven ties and could ask for the assistence of the dwarven Stone Shapers. If this is true then the reach and influence of this organization was immense, if they were truly a branch of the Empire that worked in secret to extinguish the underground presence then they would have some of the Empires connections. Having connections with the dwarves of this magnitude was still a bit to much for a group that hunted criminals. Dorian studied the stones around him and looked for the signs that Arin had told him about that could tell him the quality of the stone.
The stone first of all was seemless, it seemed as if the ground had just melted inwards and created this hallway. This could have been done with extremely powerfull fire magic aswell of course, so the seemless ness was merely one of the signs. Another sign that was present was that there was a shine to the stone. But the stone itself still seemed somewhat dull of colour. Shining yet dull, another of the mysterious after effects of Stone Shaping.
So this facility had truly been created by the dwarves. Then a second question popped up in his head. Wat if this city was build on the foundations of a dwarven bulwark? It seemed unlikely that the dwarves would build a city so far from the mountains. They generally prefferred having their holds near or in the mountains due to the easier acces to metals and minerals. These were naturally needed, since metalworking and gemstones were the keystone of dwarven economy.

Drifting his thoughts along the wat he knew of dwarves and their crafts he walked through the hallways. After who knows howlong they finally reached their point of destination. Shun looked at him and smiled.
“Welcome to my training room.” He said while grandiously swinging open the door.
Dorian immediatly understood why Shun had his own training room. The room was completely filled with wires, strung from one end to the other from the top to the bottem from corner to corner. There was no possible way to run through this. The amount of wires were intense, here and there there might be enough space for one person to be able to stand upright but there was no way to reach these places without crawling.
“The magic you and i posses is called Internal magic, most people don't know about it because it is actually a really rare magical talent to have. People who use this magic are often renowned through history. You have heard of Hirmanuculius i assume?”
Of course he had heard of Hirmanuculius, all the children had. Despite that the the warrior had such a difficult to pronounce name nearly all the children would be able to say it. Hirmanuculius was a warrior of legend who was supposed to have strength beyond belief. He had fought against the hordes of Ormunis and killed thousands that dared to cross him. It was said that he could cleave boulders in two with a swing of his mighty sword.
“Well he was a user of Internal magic, there are more famous names that were also users of this magic. But in my opinion the users that are most dangerous. Are those you have never heard of at all. Men who have mastered the art of subterfuge so well that they might aswell be invisible. After all wat is the mightiest warrior to a blade he can not even see coming. Men, woman, monster, They all have their fatal weakspots in the end.” Shun told him in a lecturing tone.
“I will teach you how to harnass that magic, how to come in contact with it. How to feel the essence of your own body. I can teach you the steps but i can not teach you how to do it. There are differences in the uses of each user. Each of us has our own abilities, some you may be able to use. Others you might not be able to.”
“First of all have a seat here with me, fold your legs like thus. This is called meditating.” Shun said in his mentoring tone. It was a little annoying how he still hadn't removed the cloth from his face. Shun's eyes were visible but the rest of his face was hidden. Yet somehow his voice wasn't muffled in the least. Dorian decided against telling Shun that he already knew how to meditate. Patience of the pupil leads to patience of the master. His dad had told him things like this before.

“Breath in with my rythm.” Shun said. While Dorian was taking breathing exercies with Shun the rest was doing their own training.
Vor had taken his huge tower shield and was currently trying to ram the much smaller dwarven warrior with his shield and just run him over. However to Vor's astonishment the in comparison to him tiny dwarf didn't budge an inch. Vor rather felt as if he ran into a wall, actually in most occasions the wall would have budged a bit against Vor's natural strength. Vor pushed with all his might but the dwarf refused to budge. After a few moments Vor stepped back and just looked at the dwarf in amazement.
The dwarf roared in laughter after seeing his pupils astonished face. “Is that all you got flower?! I'm just a tiny dwarf come on you should be able to knock me over! Again!”
Vor rushed at the dwarf before he had even really finished his sentance.
A little further down Blaitz was swinging his scimitar with all the strength he could muster against the scarred beastman infront of him. He tried speeding up his swings, using complicated feints to confuse his opponents. None of his hits were even close to hitting their mark. Well in reality they were extremely close, there was perhaps only a hairs breath between his blade and the skin of his instructor. It might aswell have been a mile in distance to how close Blaitz was to actually hitting the man.
First of all the man had blindfolded himself and had his hands behind his back. He was dodging the swings from Blaitz as if there was a child swinging at him with a sword. Blaitz now infuriated went into full beserk mode and swung with everything he could muster.
The instructor just ducked under the blow and kicked his feet out from under him. Sending the scimitar flying through the air. Which the instructor skillfully caught despite being blinded.
“You lose your patience to fast young cub, anger uncotrolled is power that goes unused. Again!”
With a roar Blaitz threw himself in battle once more.
Viyella took the bow her instructor gave her and he looked at her with a smile. “You already know how to use a bow i gather. Its all told in the muscles. Then come with me.”
Her elven instructor led her to the archery range and placed her a distance of 50 meters from the target. He then picked up his own bow and walked next to the target. He then looked at her with his barely visible eyes and smiled. “Now hit the target.”
“But sir i might hit you! You should not stand so near the target.” Viyella scribbled worriedly to the elvish man.
“No need to worry about me girl. Just shoot.” The elf said unconcerned.
Viyella picked up her bow and aimed carefully at the target. Taking a deep breath and using her utmost concentration she drew back the string. Then timed with the release of her breath she fired.
The arrow however never hit the mark, the arrow hit the floor halfway. Viyella stared at the arrow in surprise and saw that the arrow was split over 3 quarters by another arrow. She stared at the elf in shock. The man just looked back at her with the same infuriating smile.
“Wats wrong girl, go ahead. Hit the target!”
All the others of the group were in similar positions. They thought they had been strong, stronger than most of the people. They had rarely if ever met someone that could beat them. Yet here these instructors were. Proving how very, very wrong they had been.
Dorian was still meditating. It had been hours now, but suddenly he noticed something that he had not noticed before. He noticed a speck of energy inside his body. The speck was tiny however and he was not sure what it was he focused and tried to look at the spec with his minds eye. Instead of being able to see the speck more clearly he saw more specks. More and more, there must be millions of these specks. No atleast billions! More?!
What were all these specks that in his body?!
As you can all see i have removed the other protagonist and he will not be coming back. Most of you preffered having only one mc so i would feel like im typing for nothing if its not apreciated. I will now just save the other 2 protagonists for different stories! Ill have to change my plot a bit but it wil be fine! Probably... :D
