It was another plain day for Saturn: he woke up, had a quickie with Sam, showered, got dressed, ate breakfast, and finally he went to work.
He, as always, had a decent crowd of people enjoying his piano playing. Surprisingly, he had gotten so popular recently that the mall had to increase the size of his gazebo. Currently the mall owners had only added some chairs surrounding the gazebo, but there were plans to increase the size of the structure.
At the moment, Saturn was playing a couple of popular classic songs native to his world. It wasn't like he could release a new song every day, it would be too suspicious. Despite that however, he enjoyed it just as much. Piano playing was to Saturn, what painting was to painters, or meditating was to stressed people. It was a way for him to relax, express himself, and think.
His time in prison made Saturn detached from certain emotions. Happiness, safety, love, he hadn't felt any of it for 10 years straight. It was only once he was released, being with his mom, meeting Samantha, meeting Luther, and playing music that he was able to be human again.
He thought that that was why he had gained such a large follwing on We Stream, and in the mall. He figured that his audience could feel the raw emotion he put into his music, even though none of it truly belonged to him.
Those on his We Stream channel often glimpsed the anger and hatred he felt as a child and teenager. His live audience at the mall often experienced his whimsical and sentimental side. His family felt both, as well as everything he didn't express in his music.
It was while he was pondering, that Saturn finished his song. Upon the fading of the last note, Saturn received thunderous applause from his entire audience. Many of them shuffled towards his tip box, to leave him tips, obviously. While they were doing that, Saturn stood up and stretched his body slightly. He was stiff from playing for hours.
" Alright everybody, I really apologize, but it is time for my break. I will be back in 15 minutes, if you would like to continue watching me. "

The crowd was gracious in accepting his break. While Saturn was walking to the food court quite a few people thanked him for playing, as well as complimenting his piano skills. Saturn was polite with his responses despite being slightly uncomfortable among large crowds.
It was after he sat at a table to eat that Saturn was approached by a man slightly familiar to him. It was the local celebrity who had asked his mother out a few times, his name was Zach Smith.
" Hello Mr.Emerson, I am Zach Smith, please call me Zach. Anyway, I was just listening to you play, and I decided that I really want to have you on my broadcast segment. From what I have heard you have become a bit of a celebrity around here and I think you would be a great guest to have on. "
Saturn stared at Zach for a moment before he sat down his sandwich.
" I really appreciate the offer Zach, but I will need a few days to think about it. Do you have a business card I could use to get ahold of you? "
Zach didn't say anything, rather he reached into the inner lining of his suit and suavely pulled out a business card. It was pretty basic looking, with only Zach's information on. Apart from that however, the card was of good quality, didn't bend easily and wouldn't be destroyed in the wash.
"Please consider it. You could definitely use this to advance your career."
"Thank you for your offer, I should be able to get ahold of you within a day or two."
With that, both men shook hands, Zach walked off and Saturn continued eating his sandwich.
That night Saturn discussed with his mother and Samantha about Zach's offer. Both were a bit nervous about it, since Zach gave them a shady feeling, in there limited interaction with him. However, there is no denying that the interview would be good for Saturn.
So, the next day Saturn got ahold of Zach, and the two plus Zach's news team fleshed out when the interview would take place. They fleshed out the questions, and answers, and finally, they worked out a deal that Saturn would feature a new song on their show.

So, another two weeks passed. Saturn and his friends and family were all pretty anxious about the interview. Saturn went and bought a new suit. He and Luther also produced a new song; the news station didn't give many specifications for the song, other than that it had to be family friendly. So, now cussing, no extreme topics, stuff like that.
Finally, the promised day arrived. Saturn had taken the day off of work so he had ample time to relax and make sure he got to the station on time. The interview would take place in the evening, it started at 6:00 P.M. Apparently, that was one of the best time slots for the station, other than the morning.
The day had been pretty normal up until the time of the interview. He woke up, ate breakfast, shit, showered, spent time with his mother and girlfriend. The only real differences were that he didn't exercise and he didn't go to work.
Saturn left around 4 o'clock to ensure he would get there on time, or rather early. As they say, "if you're on time you're late". Saturn ended up arriving at 5:20 P.M. and decided to enter anyway. Saturn walked up to one of the receptionist and explained his situation, the receptionist quickly called a few of the workers that had helped set up his interview.
"Mr.Emerson, thank you for arriving so soon. Honestly, we weren't expecting you so soon."
Saturn smiled and shook the workers hand.
"Well, I was so anxious I couldn't really distract myself with anything else. Sorry if I have inconvienced you."
"Not at all, truthfully, it's refreshing to have someone show up so early. It gives us ample time to set everything up and cut out any last minute rushing. Speaking of, do you happen to have a recording of your song with you?"
Saturn quickly pulled a usb stick out of his suit pocket and handed it to the worker.
"Great! Then shall we get going. I will take you to our beauty department so that they can pick you apart."
"Haha, let's go."
. . . Saturn quickly regretted his words. He had know idea how literal the interview worker had been by "pick you apart". The beauty crew literally picked and poked all over his outfit and hair, and even tried to add makeup, which he declined.
After he was done there, he had only a few minutes till his interview so, some of the workers took him to the room where the interview would take place. The room was pretty basic, two couches on either side of a small table. The background was a cream colored wall with pretty landscape paintings on it. All in all, it was basic, but nice. Somewhere comfortable and likely to put viewers at ease.
As Saturn was analyzing the room, Zach walked in from the same door that Saturn entered. It seemed that Zach already knew Saturn was there since he wasn't surprised to see him, and he had a game winning smile plastered on his face. He walked up to Saturn and put his hand up for a handshake.
"Pleased to see you could make it Saturn, is there anything you need before the interview starts? There will be water provided. "
"No thank you, Zach. The others already gave me some refreshments so I should be good to go."
Zachs' smile somehow grew bigger, and he said-
"Excellent!"
The two men made small talk until-
"We will be on air in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 . . . Go! "
Zach took that as his cue and started to speak loudly and charasmatically.
"Hello and good evening everybody. I am Zach Smith, and today I will be having an interview with a local rising star. Some of you may know him, others may not, however please welcome Saturn Vanya Emerson! "

[Author's Thoughts] Dropped, obviously. Still, it's my first attempt at a novel and I do love what I did with it. Big step towards learning. Far in the past, there was a civilization much more advanced than the one of modern times. Evidence of that time remains, but it is all but shrouded in mystery as there remains no way to decipher it. In one of these corners, there exists a human settlement where Lancing follows his father's footsteps to begin his own ascent to power. However, he finds he is far different from his gifted father, whose scales below his eyes were among the purest ever seen, reaching gem-like quality. Far from perfect, Lancing shows no desire to give up and ceaselessly moves forward to reach the peak of the universe.
