10 – Tears
Kain’s POV
Mid May. 4029. Somewhere near Cohen Manor
It has been quite a while that everybody had gone to sleep. With a push to my arms, I moved up to check for anyone else that could be awake, after I made sure that everyone is sleeping – I left barracks. I walked towards Cohen Mansion altough my destination was not it. Walking past manor, I went towards lake.
I have been training hard, and success came with it. Problem that I faced was that I could not manipulate mana within my body. Jon and Leo always told me to “draw it out”, send it to my weapon and release it to take physical form. One simple sentence it was but realising it was much more harder. If they had told me to do integral equations, it would been much more easier for me. I didn’t know what mana is and had never experienced it beforehands.
More important than Jon, Leo, Destrian, Riley or even my mother Leila, I needed to learn for myself. Being able to manipulate mana will open many doors to me that may take decades to achive that much of success if I worked hard day and night. Magicians and warriors held high status in this world’s society.
I gazed at lake. Its surface was covered with bright light that perfectly mirrored two moons that were on sky. For a while I was delighted by the view. Unsheathening the katana, I put it on my right side and sat on grass. “Feel it!” Jon had told me earlier while Leo has instructed “Don’t force yourself, just let it flow out”. Owl were hooting, which made me feel essence of nature more than usual.
Closing my eyes I began to meditate. I had meditated daily for long time now, but this time everything felt different. It was as if wind was talking to me, trees were trying to tell me something, ruffling waves of lake were whispering some kind of secret that I was not understanding. “How can you understand something is not bound by time and space?” passed my mind which Destrian had told me months ago.

I sensed warm feeling that was heating my body and in opposite chilly pleasure that was balancing earlier heat out. I opened my eyes to see waves of dark red and royal blue mana flowing all around my body in spiral form, by each other. I smiled while looking at my right hand. Two types of mana were flowing all the way from my shoulders to my arm joint and up to my fingers. I took katana and stood up.
Royal blue and dark red mana began to act rebelliously after I took katana into my hands. I could see them ‘hitting’ each other and katana’s hilt. My left leg in front while right leg supporting it from back, I grasped hilt of katana with both hands and raised it above my head. It was called jodan-no-kamae stance which is the most aggressive out of five in aikido. I sensed red and blue mana gathering in katana. Third step was to release through weapon,I screamed “Falcon’s Beak” and went for vertical cut as if slashing person into two. Massive amount of mixed royal blue and dark red mana blowed out of katana and I lost consciousness.
“Sir he is alright”...”This idiot released too much mana for first time and breaching his body’s natural limit lost consciousness as a result”...”is he alright, sir Jon?”...”do not worry, he needs to sleep and recover” were last things that I heard before going to deep sleep.
It was a surreal dream. I was looking at an army of hundred thousands standing in front of me. Body that I was occupying felt different though. It was not of human’s. Royal blue colored mana was surrounding me and I began to levitate. In short while, I began to float at fixed height. There were magicians and warriors who were attacking me from distance but their strikes were useless as royal blue mana was diffusing each and every one of them by swirling around me.
“Avalon” spurted out of my mouth and dark red mana began to dissipate out of my body by getting mixed up into air. Superficially clouds began to darken and some kind of horrifying aura was felt all around. I could see terrorized face of my opponents. Nevertheless, I felt no fear at all.

In a flash, fire balls in big sizes began to fall down from sky as if a meteor shower was occuring. Boom! Splash! It continued for a while and again I talked “Void, Avalon”!
My voice sounded differently, even I was surprised at boldness and intimidation of it. Dark clouds disappeared and sky was blue again. Although smoke from earlier attack was covering sky again. Looking back at area, where army was standing earlier, nothing was left. Deep craters were made on each other and it looked like an atomic bomb has blasted in there.

Leila’s POV
Late May. 4029. Servants quarter of Cohen Mansion.
I was born and raised in Howe village. At age of 20 I married Oscar out of love. We were childhood friends, though he moved to Cohen Mansion 10 years earlier because his father was promoted to work and live there. Everyone and everything in Howe was property of Cohen’s so we couldn’t do anything at all back in those days. Although before Oscar replacing his predecessor, we married. After two years of our marriage, Kain was born.
I knew he was different and special after Kain walked out of burning house without a scratch. I took him into my arms and kissed him on cheeks. It was like Kain was not inside a burning house at all, his body was not burnt and body temprature was stable as if no heat affected him.
Oscar was filled with joy when we heard news about his appointment as scribe to Riley Cohen. It gave us a chance to live without worry after he gets old enough to earn good amount of silver and gold to support us.
I have seen Kain many times at nights, when he was around 3 years of age, reading books under light of oil lamp which intrigued me a lot. Most of us were illiterate, and I was astonished by his feats. Even nobles were not able to learn as young as him.
Financial sides were important to me. But they were never heavier scaled than his well-being to me. He was of my blood. Sometimes I was worried as his eyes were lacking compassion towards others. He seemed too focused on goals he had set.
That night, Oscar woke me up and in a panicking voice said “Kain.. Kain”. “What happened to him?” I asked. “Come dear, hurry!” he told and left.
In confusion, I put on my clothes and ran outside. There were torches on servants hands. I ran in stress, following light of torches and came to see my dear Kain lying numb on ground. I screamed “Kain” and tried to grab and hug my beloved one. Oscar cut me off and said “Wait, sir Jon is healing him”. I was worried to death. Without knowing, tears were flowing out of my eyes...
”is he alright, sir Jon?” Oscar inquired.”Do not worry, he needs to sleep and recover” that person responded. Oscar took Kain into his arms. We were told not to worry and let them know when Kain wakes up.
It has been more than 10 days that Kain has been in deep sleep. I have been sitting by bed he was sleeping on day and night.
Tears were sweeping between my nose and cheeks. I touched his face. “Kain” I whispered. He slowly opened his eyes and said “Mom”...
P.S : Are you guys alright with pacing of story?

A Universe of Bloody Evolution
The Void was never meant to be opened to the Multiverse. The horrors waiting inside it should have never seen the light. And yet, the biggest mistake in the history of creation led to the impossible. In an event later known as the Outbreak, gates appeared in the first Universe, and with them, the Void was free. For ages the Void destroyed universe after universe, spreading its power in every direction, leaving only death and pain behind. But before every Universe met its end, it still had a chance. A small part of the population that survived the initial Outbreak and was granted a mysterious System to help them fight against the dangers that came from the Void. They were the Multiverse's last hope even if they couldn't stop the collapse of their own world. And so the cycle continued until the 36th Outbreak came. Leo Hale, a young reporter from Wolford, was one of the lucky ones to survive when the majority of Earth's population turned into monsters straight out of nightmares. Thrust into a constant battle for his life, Leo was determined to push forward and find his remaining family. Even if it meant sacrificing what was left of his humanity. After all, you either adapt or die. Story of progression and evolution with my take at the post-apocalyptic genre. Unlike most monster evolution stories where the monster rushes to gain human form, here I plan to do something quite the opposite. After all, in a world where almost everything wants to kill you, being human can be hard. Warnings are here to give me the freedom to write whatever is necessary. This is my first original novel. Also English isn't my native language so any feedback is welcome. Remember that even if initially this story takes place on Earth, fictional places, streets, etc will appear. Release Schedule: Monday - Wednesday - Friday Average chapter length: 2000-2500 words (There might be exceptions as is the case with some of the first chapters - most of them are longer.)
