V3 Chapter 58
“She’s too fast!”
Rain was startled.
With his enhanced perception, Drova’s speed was already beyond the limit that Lafetti could reach.
He hurriedly jumps back again, trying to gain distance. However, the friction of the grass which grew densely at his feet was slipper than he had expected. Or perhaps, it was just a misfortune or the Goddess of Luck favoring him, as his right foot slipped at that moment. Instantly, without his control, his body tilted abruptly.
However, luckily, Rain’s accident seemed to be also outside of Drova’s expectations, her sword went straight as she had intended. But because his body timely tilted, her sword only grazed across his chest.
Clang! The impact passed close to his ear. In fact, he could see clearly several strands of his hair cut off, and even out of the corner of his eye, he saw the energy released into the air spreading out.
--oi, oi, that’s too close!
He turned towards Drova, only to be greeted by a faint grin. In a fight, Drova always gets so excited, it’s as if she has forgotten what’s going on. If someone were to see their battle, and not understand their relationship, they might actually believe she was really trying to kill him.
Immediately, Rain recovered his balance, stomped the ground with his boot, and leap to the right. Using [Blink] again, he disappeared and reappeared a good distance away.
Even though he immediately bent low in preparation for pursuit attacks, Drova retained the same smile, stopped moving, and once again raised his sword to her waist.
Rain calmed his heartbeat and smiled back -- but inside, he was covered in a cold sweat.
”Hey, are you angry at me, or something? I almost lost a life at that one,”
“Ah, sorry, sorry, though, I was prepared to pull back in time, who would have expected, even that was dodged by you. I really thought I already got you with that. To think, you could even dodge that easily, I’m truly impressed.” she said with a beaming expression.
It seems like she had really planned on ending the fight at that moment, of course, with her victory. However, who would have expected, even something like that was easily dodged by him.
It's something even Drova had never anticipated.
Though, in reality, I just slipped. Rain smiled wryly. He once again breathed in deeply and then, held his breath. Drova was indeed a terrifying opponent, but giving up after just a single round would be a disgrace. And I also still wanted to fight more…
“I still have a lot more left in me, Elder Sister…I’ll defeat you this time,”
“That’s good! That’s the spirit Rain,”
Drova laughed loudly.
“You’re enjoying this too much, Elder Sister,”
Rain smiled wryly.
“Of course. It’s been quite a long time since we last played together,” Drova smiled sweetly, though, unlike before, her expression this time was one of innocence and affection. “You’re always together with Lafetti and Elder Sister…now, you should stay with me, and train with me for the entire day.”
“I don’t think I can last for an entire day with that, though,” Rain smiled wryly.
“But, I’ll stay with you for as long as I can,”
As though to spur himself on, he shook his sword, raised it to his right shoulder, and faced his opponent. He took a deep breath, his face turned solemn, and his eyes narrowed.
If relying on power level and skills alone won't work, then he must be prepared to fight with all his strength and power. He must see Drova as his enemy, and fight with all that he's got.

His spirit against Drova’s unreachable power.
His techniques and tactics against Drova's experience and absolute power.
Rain clenched his hand, and warned-
“Here I go, Elder Sister…!”
After saying that, he once again stomped on the ground and leap, this time his mind completely clear--completely focused on the battle.
A familiar sensation assaulted him--one he felt always whenever he fights for real.
That same feeling of his nerves burning as his thoughts accelerated, engulfed his body.
“Good, Good!! Comeeee!!!”
Laughing loudly, Drova also leaps forward.
Excited. The smile in the corner of her mouth was gone and a radiance shone in her moonstone-like eyes, that gleamed like a pair of real moons.
A man and a Lamian exchanged moves at high speeds.
Rain felt weighs seemed to appear in his ankles and wrists, restricting his movements. Though he can somehow follow Drova's speed, his own body cannot.
I’m in trouble.
He smiled wryly. Was it from the right and left?
Or did she attack both sides at the same time?
Is that even possible?
Attacks could be chained, but unless she’s swinging two swords, both sides simultaneously would be impossible. But with her speed, it’s as if she had just done that impossible thing.
Drova would launch a barrage of attacks with inhuman speed and strength. More so, her innate flexibility as a Lamian, especially the swaying of her waists and tail, compensates for the interval created on swinging her sword, somewhat giving him a natural illusion and distraction.
Our past battles helped me to get used to her swordplay, however, despite that, even with my power, it’s still clearly difficult to handle her at this stage.
If it were an average man, he most likely would not be able to make a single move. He would be halved by that incredibly sharp sword, becoming very much dead in an instant. Drova seemed to have no intention of holding back. Though, he was certain that she wouldn’t actually hurt him, and that she would immediately stop the moment her sword was about to hit him—a testament to why he was still able to at least, stand his own against her right now.
Every time the sword was about to hit him, she would stop, and then, Rain would hit it with his sword, and once again, the exchange continues.
Still, Drova was also feeling somewhat overwhelmed, as much as, he did.
She wanted to measure Rain's real power, but this performance is already beyond her imagination. Though he cannot compare to her speed and power, it's not as if he was also losing. In fact, how he was able to stand against her is already beyond what's possible.
How is this even possible?
Though she didn't mean to be arrogant, with the level of power she was already releasing, someone at Rain's level should not be capable of standing against her... much less, last for quite a long time. But he did. And this baffled her greatly.
The timing of his every counter-attack is so perfect that it feels like a barrier.
He caught her steps and synchronized with her.
More than that, it felt as if he could see my next moves…[Precognition] perhaps?
Furthermore, what made it even more difficult for her was how to not hurt him seriously, when Rain was fighting this well.
And just as usual, he forgoes defense in favor of offense… that’s just like him.
However, this had also become harder for her to not hurt him. He was not concerning himself with security, so even if she didn't want it, she would find herself in a situation where she had almost stabbed him. Fortunately, his evasion was top-notch.

Despite her holding back, Drova was somewhat surprised over, and over again.
Still, as expected of Rain, he really is a genius in terms of combat. Compared to the last time they fought, he had improved exponentially. The impressive experience he had accumulated in the Dungeon seemed to be truly extremely beneficial for him.
Right now, he doesn’t seem to be too strong. But if we were to consider how fast he would grow based on his current status…
Wait, no… not just that.
Drova furrowed her brows as she watched Rain charge at her. The slender, thin sword came howling diagonally from the upper right, Drova hurriedly pushed it aside from the left. A haircurling impact came from her right hand along with sparks and metallic noise.
Using the blocked-off sword, Rain let out a loud roar, his entire body seemed to have been covered in bright azure light, a symbol of the skill [Body Enhancement] being activated. A skill most commonly used by warriors in the human race that was born inferior in physical capabilities compared to other races.
Though [Body Enhancement] skill had become popular due to its convenience, and even other races imitated it. Right now, it had become one of the commonly used skills in the world. In fact, sometimes, she also uses them. Though, because her body is already powerful to begin with, the effect would not be that much. That s why she rarely uses that kind of skill.
[Body Enhancement] skill is not actually that magical. You can't actually obtain something you normall don't have. This is not that kind of skill. It's just an ability that opened one's body's limit, making one reach their fullest potential. In simplest terms, if one regularly uses 90% of their body's ability, [Body Enhancement] skill will give the user an access to the last 10%, giving the user an incredible enhancement on their strength, reaching the limit of their potential. However, for someone who had trained their bodies to the limit, this kind of skill would lose its effect.
That is why, powerful warriors barely uses this kind of skill, and only those that are still in training mostly uses it.
Well, to Rain, however, [Body Enhancement] skill seemed to have become a dramatic transformation.
Drova could clearly feel the incredible increase in his strength from every single one of his attack. Rain was just Lv1, but it's as if his physical attributes at the moment had surpassed that of a Lv2 elite warrior.
To achieve that kind of incredible result using only a [Body Enhancement] skill, is almost impossible. After all, that would mean that his physical body alone has already reached that degree. And that was the current limit his body has.
Normal men, no matter how much their bodies are enhanced would never go beyond the limit of their current level. If one is still a Lv1, even if they consumed a legendary elixir to boost their strength, would only acquire power equivalent that of a peak Lv1. As mentioned before, you can't obtain something you normally don't have.
The peak of a Lv1 is the limit of humanity. One needed to break through the 2nd level first, to go beyond that.
If they are gifted, they have would be able to reach the initial stages of a Lv2. But that case is already rare, and one needed to train their bodies to the very limit.
But Rain had already surpassed that... and perhaps, his current attributes is already reaching the 3rd level?
... not to mention, with this degree of enhancement, maybe Rain's level in [Body Enhancement] had already reached Lv3... probably even Lv4!
That's already unbelievable itself!
For common warriors, having Lv2 [Body Enhancement] skill is enough to boast around. Lv3 means transcending the apprentice level and reaching the knight realm. They would then be able to acquire at least 30% additional power when the skill is invoked. And this skill level is already enough to officially enter the elite level. Even Drova’s [Body Enhancement] skill level is only at Lv5, giving her at least, 45% enhancement when activated. She really on it so much when she was still in training.
Well, basically useless now since her current physical body has already reached the limit of what her current state could possibly achieved.
But still, to think Rain had reached Lv3 in just a short, few months, when she only reached the 3rd level after 4 or 5 years of training... jeez, even Geniuses should have their limits, you know!
"Haaaaa!!"
Rain quickly swung again as though he couldn't feel the weight of his weapon- he attacked again and again. His speed was so fast that it was impossible to react by the time you saw his attacks.
Completely focusing his eyesight on his opponent, he predicted the direction of Drova’s next attack from her movements and blocked or avoided it. Occasionally their swords would cross and graze each other's bodies, but there wasn't a single clean hit.
Rapidly swinging her sword, Drova suddenly felt somewhat strange.
Are Legends true?
Just like a Hero straight out from Legends and Myths, could it be that Rain is the type of existence one can be called a Hero- an existence that gets stronger the longer he fights?
Drova had long felt it. She feels as if Rain seems to be growing stronger by the minute while they were fighting.
Amazing...
Not only his strength and speed had obviously increased, but also the sharpness of his every attack.
Rain had always been quite a prodigy in battle—easily able to notice little things during a battle, find an opportunity for a counter, or react timely when he is being attacked. His reflexes and intuition were something that even her, and Zarda couldn’t help but praise as out worldly.
He truly has knacks for fighting, despite his appearance that look fragile, and harmless, or his personality that is like summer breeze.
Just like before, despite having fought with him often, every time they do, his swordplay was still a box full of surprises!
The sword could be an azure ray at a moment and emitting rainbows in the next instant. It could be gentle water at a moment and ferocious waves in the next instant. An avalanche at a moment and an Earth fissure in the next instant! These kinds of change during the battle made not little effect, and even sometimes throw her focus.
There were even times when Drova felt her own power was being used against her, which is incredibly amazing.
When facing her in the fights, Rain exerted his full potential without any reservations. And his grow had mirrored that fighting will that seem to never waver despite who, or what the enemy is.
Just like Elder Sister said, Rain is a monster among monsters!
But that is also why, Drova grinned as she watched Rain coming at her with a serious expression. Moving so fast his figure almost turned into a blur. She met his sword with her own, and hissed as she sent him backward, before chasing after him this time.
You can understand us....
Sympathize with us...
Accept us....
Because you had never been a normal human... that is why!

A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
