V3 Chapter 65
“I know something had happened perhaps, but a Dungeon?” Elaine mused.
So the topic today would be a Dungeon? While Sophie smiled bitterly watching the chat board beside her best friend. Just how far was this guy’s delusion stretched to?
First, transported into another world, trapped in a cave and forest full of monsters, and living with creatures called Lamias. And now a Dungeon….seriously, what happens next? Dragons would appear?
Lady Jaye: “What kind of Dungeon, dear sir? What happened, and were there monsters living inside, treasures, gold, and more? In the first place, what happened to the humans you said you encountered? Did the Dungeon perhaps have something to do with them?!”
IamDaDragon: “Good Question, Lady Jaye. Though, another question, is Duke still living?”
Heartless NEET: “I hope he does, I actually like Duke.”
IamDaDragon: “Who does not?"
Indistinct Sage: "Hey, Let’s go back to the topic, shall we? So, how is it, Mr. Anonymous? Tell us about this Dungeon!!”
MadImmortal12: “Wow, Lady Jaye’s heating up. It seems like she’s really waiting for you, Sir. Though, I also wanted to know the answer to those questions as well. What happened, Sir? Are humans good or bad? And how did you enter the Dungeon? And what does it look like? Waiting for answers~~”
Mr. Anonymous: “Woa, woa, slow down guys. I’m alone. Anyway, I’ll answer those questions slowly, so slow down. Indeed, there has been a lot of happenings occurring these past few weeks. Let’s start with the existence of the Great Hero that seems to exist in ancient times having the name Arthuria Pendragon,”
Heartless Neet: “Do you mean Arthur Pendragon?”
Indistinct Sage: “Wait? Did Arthur come from a different world?!”
MadImmortal12: “The setting is messed up!”
Indistinct Sage: “I don’t know man. But assuming this thread rule is to assume everything is in another world setting, indeed. Mixing up stories and legends from this world would make it even more difficult to visualize. You’re breaking the atmosphere, man. I'm disappointed!”
Arthur Pendragon? The Legendary British King? Elaine furrowed her brows in suspicion. She had not expected, nor imagined that the famous British king’s name would suddenly appear out of nowhere.
“I told you, this guy’s just delusional,”
Sophie who saw her expression said. She had never believed this Mr. Anonymous, and now, this is one of the proof why. How come the Great Arthur Pendragon be in another world?
Elaine bit her lips, as her confidence wavered. However, as she was about to answer, Mr. Anonymous replied on the thread.
Mr. Anonymous: “It’s not Arthur Pendragon, guys, it’s indeed Arthuria Pendragon. And he's not he, but a she...apparently. I also have the same reaction when I found out about it. Quite confusing, really. However, she truly existed here. Though I don’t know if she is the same person with whom we know To make matters serious, even a Holy Sword called Caliburn also existed as well. And it seems like the holy sword is buried in the deepest part of the Dungeon.”
MadImmortal: “But can they be the same person?”
Iam DaDragon: “Really, MadImmortal? You’re just riding in the conversation?”
MadImmortal12: “Well, this is where and when we assume that he is really in another world setting to continue the flow of conversation. It makes it even more fun that way, right?”
Indistinct Sage: “Indeed, MadImmortal is right. We came here for that, after all!”
Mr. Anonymous: “Well, whether you believe it or not, is up to you guys. Just that, I don’t think they are the same person.”

Lady Jaye: “Why do you say that?”
Mr. Anonymous: “Well, let’s go back to how I was able to enter the Dungeon in the first place to answer that. I was walking with my companions, the Lamians, by the way, not the humans. I haven’t met them since that time, they seem to have some other business in another place. I went to another region of the cave I was living. Anyway, I was walking in the north part of the cave, exploring, when suddenly I found this peculiar Tombstone.”
Dorae+zilla: “Tombstone?”
Mr. Anonymous: “Yeah, though. I won’t go into details about it, cause it’s really confusing. Even now, I’m still, way, way, more confused about it. In any case, in the Tombstone a very familiar quote was written. ‘…To be, or not to be, that is the question,’ ”
MadImmortal: “‘…To be, or not to be, that is the question,’ that seems familiar…”
Lady Jaye: “That’s the quote of William Shakespeare, am I right?”
Indistinct Sage: “Bingo! It seems like Lady Jaye is also a man, no, a woman of culture! Indeed, that is a quote from William Shakespeare. To be exact, it’s the opening phrase of a soliloquy uttered by Prince Hamlet in the so-called nunnery scene.”
Heartless NEET: “This thread sure has a lot of weird, but knowledgeable people. Me being just a NEET is ashamed,”
Indistinct Sage: “I’m not that knowledgeable I just know what I know,”
Lady Jaye: “Same”
Mr. Anonymous: “Anyway, guys, I found similar quotes of Shakespeare as I explored the Dungeon. And some of it was written as a riddle. The Dungeon seems to have been made by Arthuria Pendragon to find a successor. Thus, I think this Ancient Great Hero, is just a fan Arthurian who take up the name of Arthur Pendragon when she became a Hero. At the same time, she’s also a Shakespearean as well. Not to mention, she’s a Transmigrator just like me,”
Indistinct Sage: “But didn’t you say, she’s ancient?”
Mr. Anonymous: “Yeah, she’s a Transmigrator, though I don’t know which timeline of Earth she came from. However, I think she came from a world not too different from ours, or perhaps, she might have even come from the same world as us. There are so many things that would not make sense if she is not otherwise. So I think, she came from a Modern Earth like me, just that, she was summoned into the past,”
Dorae+zilla: “A different in the timeline, is it? Well, in fiction, it’s not impossible.”
Heartless NEET: “If she made the Dungeon just like you said, it must have been quite a high-level Dungeon. I sure want to play in that Dungeon,”
Mr. Anonymous: “I would advise against it, man. It’s really difficult. The Monsters are very strong, if I’m not with the Lamians, and came by myself, I would have been slaughtered in an instant. Even Goblins are strong!”
Lady Jaye: “Is there a Vid? If not pictures work as well!”
MadImmortal: “Now, that’s what I’m talking about! I want to see it!”
Iam DaDragon: “Mr. Anonymous level of picture editing is always high level. And the Lamias are so beautiful! They are Hollywood level! Please give me a picture of Ms. Lafetti, I want it as my wallpaper.”
Mr. Anonymous: “I can’t say I like giving the pictures of my girlfriend away,”
IamDaDragon: “Boooo! Stingy! Stingy!”
Dorae+zilla: “Boooo! Stingy! Stingy! [2]”
Heartless NEET: “Please give mercy to this single man, dear sir!!”

Indistinct Sage: “Hahahaha,”
MadImmortal: “Actually, I’m more attracted to Ms. Scarlet~”
Indistinct Sage: “A sudden shocking Revelation?!!!”
...
“These guys are perverts,” Sophie who was reading the thread alongside her best friend muttered with a sigh, while Elaine was exploding in laughter. It seems like she was truly amused by them.
“What? They are actually funny people,” Elaine said with a laugh. Then, she started browsing the photos that were slowly being posted in the thread, and couldn't help but sigh in amazement. “However, aside from that, look there are already pictures. Hm, as usual, they are really caught well,”
“They don’t like CG’s either… the location, I wonder where they shoot this from?”
“It’s not a movie, you know. Just look at those life-like monsters! Just looking at it, you can see that it’s not made up,” Elaine said while staring intensely at the picture that had appeared on the screen. In fact, with the lack of replies thus far, it seems like the other people were also doing it, examining every picture that appeared.
MadImmortal: “As expected, the CG was done phenomenally as always,”
Heartless NEET: “Indeed, now I’m starting to believe that this guy is for real. If there are indeed videos of this, and if it was done as good as this, I wouldn’t be able to deny it as being mere delusion anymore!”
Indistinct Sage: “I think so too. Damn, these pictures are incredibly real…!”
Mr. Anonymous: “But this is not just delusion, though,”
“What do you think, Sophie?” Elaine turned towards her friend, “Even you, you can’t possibly say they can’t be real after looking at these photos,”
“It might look real, but they only look real, Elaine. In our generation, anyone could make lifelike pictures of something that does not exist,”
“But not with this quality. As I said--hm?!”
“What?”
Sophie look at Elaine with a weird expression when she saw her stopping. Elaine’s eyes were wide as they could be as if she had seen a ghost in broad daylight.
“What are you doing?”
Elaine gulped.
“L, look,”
Sophie’s brows furrowed, and she turned around. However, when she did, what she saw outside the window stopped her breath.
“What the hell is this?!!” she was petrified and her eyes widened in surprise.
Because what should not be there, was there, in all of its glory.
… …
Rain scratched the back of his head with a confused expression. For some reason, there was no response again. All the people he had been happily conversing with up until now, seemed to have signed out simultaneously.
What the hell? Is there a website maintenance kind of thing?
No matter how much he called out, or how long he had waited, it’s as if he had been left behind by everyone.
Rain could only shrug his shoulder and forget about it for the time being. Next, he started surfing the net for any kind of information, as well as entertainment to kill for time.
"I actually wanted to create bicycles. After all, I want to ride one even in this world. But with how Lamians is, it would be awkward to introduce it...and also, I almost forgot, I should try to change the wheels of the wooden carts with rubber and ball bearings to make it run easier and smoother. Miyabila should be able to perfectly make one now...hm?"
Suddenly, as he engrossed in reading and studying about simple machinery and devices for many professional fields from the book he downloaded (he was planning on introducing some simple machines to the Lamians) he heard faint, whispering voices and child-like giggles.
It was quite faint, that one can easily be mistaken for the passing of wind.
In fact, he even thought it was just a misconception. However, since it lasted for quite a while, it should not be.
It’s an unfamiliar voice, so it caught his interest. He had already memorized the voices of the Lamians living in the village, so he was certain that this voice didn't come from among them.
So who is it?
He was sitting alone on a huge rock with nothing but planes of the greenest grass spread around him in every direction.
The sky was so blue, with wisps of clouds moving lazily. The rock was warm under his skin, the radiating heat a comfort. He was rooted to that rock. Wouldn’t have left it for anything.
Rain was currently at the Herb Field just behind Sarete’s Alchemy Workshop so he was interested to know whose voice it was, and who would come here in this kind of time.
Due to how far this place is from the center of the village, basically, people rarely come to this place.
Furthermore, now the villagers, even the Killer Ants are busying themselves in gathering ripe fruits, herbs, and plants, while others went out to hunt, gathering food and supplies for the upcoming season.
And most of the villagers should be in the farm fields right at this point in time, gathering heavy vegetables and crops, piling them in their baskets, and carrying them off to the nearby Warehouse to store up against the coming Winter.
The Killer Ants and Antmen as well were helping, making ready and casting in the seed, which shoots up so early in the following season and is the first to give that green and velvet-like look of the village’s fields. So yes, everyone is busy.
As for him, he came here helping Sarete, picking up matured herbs from the Herb Field, and practicing Alchemy later to kill time. Though she left in a hurry a while ago since Zarda called for her, so right now, he was alone.
There should be no people here other than him... so who is it?
The sounds came from the forest, which made even things more suspicious.
Monsters? Trap? Rain wondered. He opened the map on his phone, but there are no people within 10 to 20 meters from him. Obviously, there are no red marks that symbolize enemies either.
But there don’t seem to be any people around here…was I mistaken?
He was starting to doubt his ears, when once again suddenly the familiar soft giggles reached his ears again.
Am I hallucinating?
Is he wanted to ask himself when suddenly from the corner of the map reflected on the screen, he saw something flash.
It made an arc before disappearing. Like a video of a falling star. If Rain didn’t have the playback feature on his map, he would have thought he was seeing wrong.
He replayed it, and tap on the screen where the ‘falling star’ is positioned, to know its identity. However, it’s unknown. So it’s not Lamian or any monster or creature he had encountered before. But it was so fast and can appear and disappear at will. And not even the map of the Smart Phone can catch it.
It doesn’t seem to be an elaborate trap…
Since if this was a trap, it would not have these strange actions of appearing and disappearing. Should I consult Sarete? Or should I check it out myself?
Well, even if he wanted to consult someone first, there was no one in the area.
I'm really curious...
There should be nothing that can endanger him in this place since this was the territory of the Lamians.
Anything that can pose a threat has been already eliminated. Though, there’s that off-chance. Nevertheless, Rain was not that worried since he was confident he can protect himself against any monsters that would appear.
Even against strong monsters that he cannot defeat, he can still escape unscathed, or wait for reinforcements from the Lamians if need be.
As long as it's not on the caliber of a Monster King, he is confident to fight against any kind of monster in the Desolate Cave. Though, Monster Kings should not be that bored to look for him for trouble.
I thought I already know all the monsters in the Desolate Cave, or at least, in the nearby areas, but it seems like there’s still something I haven’t known yet.
With those thoughts in mind, Rain jumped from the rock and started heading into the forest. A smell of adventure seems to tickle his nostrils, and his lips curved in excitement.
A little peek, should not be a problem, right...?

It dropped into one of the Wells and all that could be done now was hope it was found in time, if at all. -- This was my very first large story. ;) I started writing it years ago. The first arc of the novel is set inside our modern world, but as the mysterious events around Calin intensifies, the hidden secrets in the world start to become more fantastical. The story follows Calin, a young orphan in search of answers. But, the answers he seeks will change his life and that of his friends forever, for the secrets that caused his situation have far greater ramifications than the small village of Lamb's Crest could have known.
