《the Otherworld Scientific Researcher》Chapter 17: Misfortune at the City Gate
Advertisement
Outside of the city gate, a long queue of people are waiting to enter the city. Normally, this area is not that busy, but after the arrival of the refugees, the city guards have to inspect the identity of everyone that wants to enter the city. Those that have been registered as a citizen, or a merchant or adventurer are allowed entry. The rest will be denied. There are also those who used force to enter, but only to be met with execution, which is a bit cruel in the eyes of Yuria.
Yuria walks past the line of people and went up to where the city guards are stationed.
[Hey, get in line at the back if you have an entry permit. If not, get lost if you do not want to end up like them.]
The soldiers stationed there yelled at Yuria while pointing towards a direction where a pile of bodies are placed.
Without minding their threat, Yuria took out a parchment in the shape of a scroll with a golden crest and hand it over to the soldier. That crest is proof of a Noble, and the parchment shows her identity. Realizing what the items that she brought out signified, the soldiers look at her in disbelief while glancing at her parchment. Quickly, one of the soldiers went in the guardhouse and call someone that knows how to read. Not everyone can have the opportunity to learn how to read and write.
Not long after, a man with a formal suit and glasses came out of the guardhouse. He looks curiously at Yuria and Raynor. Normally, a noble that comes from other Kingdom will arrive in a carriage with escorts. But Yuria came by foot and with tattered low class attire, with a young brat as companion. He begins to suspect whether they stole a noble’s identification in order to enter the city.

The guy takes over the piece of parchment and begins to look through it. He was shocked by the contents. It is the identification of Queen Yuria. Not a Noble, but a Royalty of the kingdom where all these refugees came from. And it is also rumored that the Queen has been captured, or she has been killed. But now, she is standing right in front of them. Couldn’t believe it, he begins to scheme something. This piece of paper and crest are worth many times his life. He could order them to be executed and said that they were impostors and keep it all to himself. She might really be an impostor, so there is no harm on disposing them. Since he is in charge of this area, no reports will be made about this.
[That’s enough Cain. I will be taking over the rest!]
While the man who is named Cain was still scheming his plan while trying to hide that piece of parchment, a voice came from behind him.
Cain was shocked, and he trembled, because he recognized the voice. All the soldiers, and Yuria also were taken aback, they didn’t seem to notice the presence of that person who suddenly appears out of no where.
A tall woman with long black hair, and a long black robe which covers her entire body and a slight split on the leg area which exposes a portion of her leg. And it also comes with a large bamboo straw hat on her head.
Her name is called Izanami, the leader of a Mage Corps that plays a significant role in this Kingdom’s military strength. All of its members are made out of females. They are also the Queen’s personal guards. And she is the second most powerful person in this Kingdom, next to Queen Erina.

[Queen Yuria, Queen Erina has noticed of your arrival and have prepared a place for your accommodation in the castle. Your audience with the Queen will be held tomorrow.]
After that, Izanami escorts Yuria and Raynor into the city and leads them to the castle. Izanami looks at Raynor and Raynor stares at her. Before this, they already have their staring contest, during the time when they just arrived at the city gate. The time when Cain has not yet made his appearance, and while Izanagi is standing there invisible. She also noticed that Raynor notices her while she is still invisible. She has confidence in her invisibility skill, and no one in this Kingdom is able to notice her other than the Queen. But now there is a second person, and that person is Raynor.
Raynor didn’t really see her, but he detected a heat distortion from that empty space. He switches the vision on his googles to infrared vision because of curiosity, and he saw a distorted figure of a person standing there. And that’s what made him keep on staring at it until she emerges.
After they left and head to the palace, an unfortunate event happen at the city gate. Cain’s position has been replaced by someone else, and he is never heard of again.

The Final Quest
Everybody loves the Elder Scrolls games, no matter what game a person plays, it always is a unique and fun time. This is just one verse in the song of Tamriel. Call it Fanfiction, call it a light novel, heck just call it a one shot story. I don't care.(well actually I do, but thats next to the point) However, please remeber this as you read. This story is created through my own understanding of the story of the Elder Scrolls world.(with some help from online videos) If I misinterpret something, say so. I may fix it... eventually. Please, enjoy The Final Quest

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
