《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 1

Hisoka Iwamoto opened his eyes in a very peculiar place. If he were to have to describe it, he would have to call it a place where existence is uncertain. As it was neither there nor not there... He couldn't properly put it into words.
As he gazed around trying to get his bearings, which was futile, he muttered to himself.
"Well, I've really gone and fucked it up good this time huh. I suppose I'm dead."
He stated rather matter of factly. Not that he was happy about it, but at his age, he had already acknowledged death was a certainty that would catch you one day, though he never expected it to be so soon.
"Well, I suppose that was a pretty damn stupid way to go out huh," he chuckled to himself. He couldn't believe he had offered his life to save someone else, a complete ditz at that.
[She wasn't even that attractive] he thought to himself.
He sat down as if expecting something, but nothing happened. With no concept of time he could have been in this strange nonphysical plane for days, months, or maybe only minutes. He tired of the nothingness and got up and walked around, but with no concept of space or existence, he couldn't even be sure he was moving. He subconsciously reached into his pockets and felt an irregular cold metal object. it was then he remembered the coin that lacked faces. He withdrew the coin and it almost seemed to glow as he held it in his hand.
As he rubbed his fingers across the smooth metal shape, it slowly started to oddly react. It seemed to erode at an extremely heightened pace, and before he realized what he was doing he was holding very fine particles in his hand. Startled he dropped the dust and it swirled tightly in a conical manner, faster and faster, before a bright light shone and he materialized in what seemed to be an office.
It was orderly and clean, not a speck of dust littered the space. As he looked around the office he heard someone clear them through.

Startled he looked forward to see what appeared to be a middle-aged man looking at him and back at his clipboard while marking things down.
"Hellow Mr..... Hisoka Iwamoto is it?" asked the man as if this was routine.
"Umm, yes that would be me," replied Hisoka.
"Would you happen to know where we are or what is going on?" asked a surprised Hisoka.
"Ah yes, but first let me introduce myself. I am Tani Tenchi, but you can call me Tenchi. I suppose you could say I am the God of this place. We are currently in my office here in the Great Between. As to why you are here-" He checked his clipboard, "It would seem you were hit by a truck in an effort to save a young lady." He stated matter of factly.
"I suppose you have a few questions but first let me explain your situation. Through some divine luck, it seems you will be able to reincarnate in another world-" He once again referred to his clipboard, "Ah, you're in luck it seems you will be heading to a fantasy realm."
Hisoka had a frown on his face as he wasn't looking forward to living as a peasant in a world that lacked the modern-day luxuries he was accustomed to. What the man said next, however, intrigued him.
"This being a fantasy world of magic, elves dragons and demi-humans, the average adult male would have acquired skills and perhaps even an ability through their struggles up until that point. You, however, coming from Earth lack skills or abilities. Fear not, however, as you will be compensated for those years that you would not have lived. You will be able to choose two skills and... It says here also three abilities of your design. Wow, the RNG God must be smiling upon you. So, as well as getting to choose those skills, you will also be granted [speech comprehension] free of charge so that you can communicate with the natives to make your new life easier. It won't show up in your status bar as it will be implanted more in your conscious than the linear system."

"Speaking of, this world functions off of a linear system of advancement, primarily levels. You have player levels, as well as ability and skill levels respectively. For a quick explanation of levels, every 5 player levels you will receive 1 ability point to increase an ability's proficiency. Additionally, through experience and training, you will be able to progressively grow stronger through the base stats of intelligence, stamina, agility, strength along with raising your health and mana values. You will be able to check your status by thinking or saying [status], as well as being able to access a point slotting screen when you level up. You may share this window with others if you wish to do so."
"Now I recommend you put some thought into choosing your abilities, as your life and income may depend on them."
Upon saying this a floating window displaying his base stats along with 3 empty slots to fill in with the skills and ability he desired.
HP: 15/15
MP: 50/50
STR: 6
AGI: 5
STA: 4
INT: 8
(Note that the average non-adventurer has base stats between 5-10)
As he began to contemplate which abilities to choose, one thing came to his mind, as he had read a couple of novels like this before and was slightly familiar with how this type of deal worked, and typed into the ability box, hoping there would be no restrictions. He typed into the box [Modern Weapon Summons] with the hopes of gaining an ability to summon modern firearms.
[Would you like to confirm the ability "Modern weapon Summons"?]
He looked at the description and satisfied punched in yes.
[The ability to summon the necessary ammunition and weapons of a from the user's previous world to the current world.]
Lv. 1: Summon basic equipment and 1 firearm and it's ammunition up to a 5.56 semi-automatic rifle per day
Lv. 2: ?????
Lv. 3: ?????
and so on.
The next thing he would certainly need would be vehicles, as he had never learned to ride horses, and they were a rather slow means of transportation in general. He set an ability [Modern Vehicle Summons], looked it over, and pressed confirm.
[The ability to summon light and heavy vehicles from the user's previous world]
Lv. 1: Summon a single light recon vehicle
Lv. 2: ?????
Lv. 3: ?????
etc.
The final ability would have to consist of equipment, as he was almost certain the new world would not have any of the necessary tactical gear to allow him to build an effective loadout. One last time he checked, then clicked confirm.
[The ability to summon necessary tactical gear to form a proper combat load]
Lv. 1: Summon 1x light chest carrier and 1x assault pack
Lv. 2: ?????
Lv. 3: ?????
Satisfied with the result he thought carefully about what to fill the remaining two boxes with, before eventually typing into one of the skill boxes [Modern Weapon Master]. He was greeted with a description of:
Skill: Modern Weapon Master Lv. 1
Each level increases proficiency with modern equipment vastly, as well as granting the proper knowledge of the operation of equipment parallel to what is summonable as a base stat.
He accepted the skill and noticing no restraints went to the next box.
He thought for a few moments of what he would need most to survive, and settled on Resilience. He was always rather weak when it came to harsh conditions, hunger or thirst, and his greatest weakness, pain.
He typed [Resilience] into the box and the description read:
Skill: Resilience Lv. 1
Each level increases the tolerance to adverse effects and harsh environments by 5%
Happy with the results he selected the save button and then the overall ok button before turning to the man.
"I wish you luck in your next life, however, this most likely will be your last, as the chances of reincarnation twice are astronomically low," said Tani.
After receiving this warning, Hisoka gave a nod, and Tani man pulled on a cord hanging from the ceiling before the world spiraled and went completely black once more.
"I wonder how he'll end up with such an ability set" muttered Tani to himself now alone in his office as he returned to checking boxes on his clipboard.

Stranger than Fiction (Draft Edition)
Rewrite -> https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/55140/stranger-than-fiction 150k words of rewritten and new content, updating 3 times a day. Faith is like ice-cream. It comes in all flavors. Greek, Norse, Sumerian, Christian— just name it and it's there. Adventures, on the other hand, are like credit cards. The first taste is free, but the price only goes up from there. Family heirlooms, now those are true evil. You get burdened with them for sentimental reasons even if they’re icky. For Lukas Aguilar, it was a pendant. A small, weird metal nib with absolutely no vampiric tendencies. All he wanted was to finish the job at hand, and get on that book he had been postponing for a while now. Instead he got served with an apocalypse for breakfast, a cave full of eldritch monsters for the company and the whims of a ruined goddess for his To-Do list. Really, a simple NO from the universe would have sufficed. Acknowledgments Editor-in-Chief: Solo Starfish Artwork: Exodus
