《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 11

Hisoka enjoyed a nice and slow drive back into town. It was a sunny day and night had yet to fall upon the land. Misumi was taking a nap in the passenger seat. She looked peaceful as she sat in the chair, her beauty mixing with the passing grasslands perfectly. Hisoka smiled and went back to leisurely moving the vehicle back to their usual parking spot.
They made it safely back to town and dismounted. Having nothing of any importance to do for the remaining time, they retired to the inn for a little R&R.
This was the last night they would spend in the town of Heartwell, as Hisoka had only paid for 7 nights and had seen all he wanted to see. Tomorrow they would pick up the holster for Misumi, and move on to whatever awaited them further down the road.
When they reached the front of the inn, Misumi stiffened and began to move very cautiously. Hisoka instinctively drew the MK23, preparing for whatever may come their way
.
"There's someone in my room..." Misumi told Hisoka after sensing it with her natural beastkin abilities.
Hisoka stiffened and his face froze into a cold mask. They entered the inn and went past the receptionist, not wishing to draw further attention. Hisoka gestured for Misumi, who had drawn her weapon as well, to stay behind him as they approached her room. He drew his knife and held both knife and pistol in a Harries type hold. Seeing as whoever this was had broken into her room, Hisoka had settled on shoot to kill.
He activated a portion of his skill, feeling his senses sharpen and adrenaline pump. He felt an instant surge of confidence as various CQC fighting methods flooded his mind and sensed the muscle memory being implanted in him. He raised the pistol to the door and opened it slowly. He scanned the room, and slowly made his approach.
"Going right," he whispered to Misumi, who took up the left corner.
They swiftly stormed into the room, however, whoever it was had sensed them and left through the way they came, the window.
Everything seemed to be in place, and nothing appeared to have been stolen, which further incensed Hisoka.
[If this intruder wasn't here for valuables, then what the fuck were they doing in Misumi's room.]
He wondered. If the intruder had been here for Misumi, why would he leave when she arrived? Or could it be that with Hisoka's unexpected presence they fled? No matter what the case, it was clear that she wouldn't be safe staying here.

Hisoka didn't want to leave her on her own but suggesting they share a room could be overstepping his bounds. After all, he didn't want to seem to be taking advantage of such a situation with wrongful intention. He debated in his head for a bit before Misumi spoke up, saving him from his moral dilemma.
"Hisoka... Would you mind if I shared a room with you tonight? I'm a little uncertain being alone as whoever did this clearly can come and go as they wish," she requested slightly blushing.
"Of course. You can take the bed," Hisoka replied.
Misumi muttered her thanks bashful. Truthfully, Misumi could likely fight off an attacker in a one on one fight due to her skills with her weapon alone, however, most people are extremely vulnerable when they sleep her being no exception.
He did his best as to not make her uncomfortable, offering her the bed and sleeping on the floor. He almost told her he would keep watch, but that could be misinterpreted so he opted not to tell her. As twisted as a person as he may be, he didn't want to come off as that kind of guy at the very least.
Hisoka kept watch the entire night until sunrise, where he irresponsibly decided to take an hour's rest. Luckily nothing bad happened during his short rest, and he was awoken by Misumi getting out of bed.
"Good morning," she greeted him bashfully, still all too aware she was sharing a room with a man.
"Good morning, Misumi," he replied in turn.
With the prior night's incident, Hisoka didn't plan to stay in town any longer than need be, and they proceeded to the leatherworker's shop to pick up the commissioned work. Hisoka was greeted once more by a cheerful big man at the counter, and after some pleasantries received his order.
Misumi seemed quite happy with the belt, which she perceived as a gift, and was happy to have a proper way of carrying her Sig. Hisoka instructed her to keep the extra pistol in her bag of holding in case worst came to worst. She put on the belt and put the pistol in place, then meticulously slotted the Sig magazines in their pouches. With a rifle slung over her shoulder, and a pistol hanging off an ornate belt, she looked like a proper gunfighter.
Hisoka gave her a smile and they walked on to their car. Hisoka decided that at some point in the future it would be good to teach Misumi to drive it as well, but for the time being, it wasn't an exceptionally pressing matter. Gas, on the other hand, may become tricky if he didn't get an ability point to slot into the vehicle ability. There being nothing he could do about it at the moment, he put the nagging thought in the back of his head as they drove off.

Looking in the rearview minor, Hisoka watched as the town grew smaller and smaller. As they drove further into the grassland the scenery began to change as they found themselves driving through a path in a forest. The scenery was quite beautiful. It wasn't some gorgeous elven forest, but the towering pine-like trees were majestic in their own right, as they stood throughout the years.
At about noon they stopped off the side of the road to have a short meal of preserved goods bought from town. As they were resting, Hisoka summoned 150 rounds to replenish the five empty mags Misumi had ran through, costing him 45 MP, as well as a further 13 MP for 30 rounds of .45 to fill the missing 6 rounds and keep a reserve. After their short meal, they set about repacking magazines. Hisoka took some time to go over their stock.
1x Assault pack
1x Chest rig
2x weapon-specific holsters
2x P226
1x VR60 12 gauge
1x Civilian Scar
1x AR-15 SBR
1x MK23
1x .44 magnum
2x bag of holding
24x .45 rounds
2x .44 magnum cartridges
6x Full .44 speedloaders
8x 5.56 STANAG magazines
6x 9 round VR60 magazines
5x full MK23 magazines
5x full P226 magazines
1x half-filled P226 magazine
3 Full jerry cans
1 half-filled jerry can
5 empty jerry cans
2 days dried foodstuffs
They seemed to be rather well off, other than gas, for the time being.
They were about to get back onto the road when they heard quite the commotion heading towards them. Hisoka dismounted from the vehicle with his MK23 sitting firmly in its holster. He carried the VR60 in his hands as he had yet to summon a sling for it. He soon saw the source of the commotion, as a carriage came speeding down the way, with multiple horse-mounted riders chasing and attacking it.
Hisoka wasn't a man of common sense nor tact when it came to combat situations. He simply saw aggressors and a scared carriage driver trying to escape them and decided to engage the pursuers, no questions asked. He waited for the carriage to pass before he began to spray the aggressors, both horse, and rider, with 12 gauge. He needn't activate his skill as they were most likely just simple bandits. They never saw the torrent of pellets coming until they were on the ground bleeding from it with their flesh spread about in ways it should not be. He successfully gathered the attention of the riders who turned to subdue their attacker.
Unfortunately for them, that was not going to succeed. Hisoka dumped the last 3 rounds at another bandit before dropping the magazine and clicking a new one in place and pulling back the oh so satisfying charging handle. After an audible click as the bolt returned to its a natural position, he mowed down 2 more riders before they could even get close to attacking him. The bandit's two archers tried to engage him but he had already transitioned to his pistol and proceeded to put a few well-placed rounds through the two of them.
After a cacophony of booming weapons, all 8 bandits were dead or dying on the ground. The carriage driver had kept running, and who could blame him? On top of 8 bandits suddenly multiple roaring sounds randomly appeared killing them? Anyone of this era would be warranted in being terrified of a modern semi-automatic shogun.
"Damn, I would've liked to have a chat with the guy," Hisoka said as he stroked his chin. Misumi looked on as he walked to the corpses to take their valuables, stopping every so often to execute a dying bandit.
he made out of that encounter with 50 silver and 2 gold coins, obviously plundered from other carriages. He noticed one last bandit still coughing blood.
[Shit this fucker just won't die]
Hisoka readied his pistol to finish the bandit when the man started pleading.
"Please, no don't kill me please I'll give you whatever you want!"
"I could just take whatever I want from your corpse," Hisoka responded with the usual cold emotionless expression he preserved to show his enemies.
"I-I'll tell you where our base is! There's plenty of valuables there!"
"Mhm do tell," Hisoka said as he played around with the weapon in his hands.
The man produced a piece of paper with scribbled instructions on it that could've been overlooked if Hisoka hadn't known what it was.
"H-here these are the directions"
Hisoka smiled and the man felt a glimmer of hope before Hisoka leveled the weapon at the screaming man and ended his noisiness.
"Well then Misumi, looks like we've got a nice day trip planned now huh?"

Welcome to the Chronicles of Rathia. Contained within is a trilogy of stories which are all set in different time periods and with different characters. Each story has its own era from The Era of Blood, The Era of Magic and The Era of Demons. Read along the first in the series which is The Era of Blood where magic is still in an infant stage and where swords can dominate the battle field. In The Era of Blood, you follow along the first main character who had his memories wiped clean except for the most basic things in life. It is up to him to find out how to get his memories back and why they are gone. (If you don't like the story layout or characters, I suggest either just reading through or wait till the next one in the series is being released. With how it's set up, you can enjoy any of the three in the trilogy but of course reading in order will help give a better understanding of the world.) (Side authors note - I'm currently reworking the first several chapters as they are lacklustre to myself since they were originally a draft and not concrete at first. This note will stay here until all the chapters I wanted to fix up are done.)
