Chapter 20: Great Person
An explosion sounded out as one of the RedSerpent clan’s elders, an old nascent cultivator shoot towards Les and threw a fist at her. Les managed to avoid it and appeared behind the elder.
She formed a hand seal and a beam of qi formed and pierced the elder abdomen. He gave of a pained cry and instantly teleported. He appeared a few meters away and quickly was surrounded by the other RedSerpent clan members and given some basic treatment.
Zes was secretly amazed. He never thought that the Bluedragon clan would be able to hold their ground to such an extent. Originally he was prepared to treat some half dead ones but now it seems that he had greatly misjudged the power of this father daughter trio.
But this gave the Bluedragon fraction only a short break. A few moments later the RedSerpent clan once again attacked. This time they were even more vicious and did not hesitate to team up against the city lord and his daughters.
But even if they were still able to somehow fight back against the RedSerpent clan, it was obvious that they were slowly losing. And that's without the immortalstage patriarch appearing. Gay Bluedragon and his daughters, Les and Zue Bluedragon were pretty strong, individually they were stronger than the elders of the RedSerpent clan. But even then it was impossible for them to face an immortalstage cultivator.
That was the difference in cultivation stages. A powerful nascentstage cultivator is able to win against a high number of enemies. But it was very rare for someone of the nascentstage to even be able to run away from an immortalstage cultivator, not even to speak about fighting one. Actually even a hundred elite nascent cultivators are not enough to fight a single immortalstage one.

So the only reason they were still able to put up a fight against the RedSerpent clan was because the immortalstage patriarch had not stepped in.
Another explosion rang out. A female elder had tried to get behind Gay Bluedragon and ambush him. But she was noticed and Gay Bluedragon rammed his fist into her head, causing her to spin backwards and smash into the wall of a nearby house. The woman coughed blood and fell unconscious. The power behind this punch was clear.
Finally the gold robed man that had been standing behind the RedSerpent forces moved. A vanished and then appeared before Gay Bluedragon. He had a cruel smile, showing his vicious nature. He had gray hair and small evil looking eyes, making him look like a perfect anti-hero out of some cartoon.
Without speaking a word he causally punched towards Gay Bluedragon.
Gay indifferently smiled, even though he knew that this casually thrown punch would clearly kill him. Blood was on his face and stuck in his hair. His clothes were blood red from the blood soaked in it and wounds were covering his body. Even in this situation he just smiled. He knew that he would die today and there was no way to avoid death so why not smile. He could have cursed the golden gowned man for coming into his city and destroy his life work but he did not.
He could beg for his life or at least that of his daughters. He could make his clan a branch of the RedSerpent clan and survive. But he did not. Why?
Zes was shocked and sweat could be seen at his forehead. He had not expected that the things would escalate this quickly. Reis was next to him and was ready to get into action.

Suddenly a voice could be heard in the minds of all the people in the city. It did not matter who they were or where they were they all that voice. Zes and the golden gowned man were no exception.
“Even if I will die, I will never yield to the RedSerpent clan. Even if my bloodline is killed my daughters are massacred and my clan is killed. I will never surrender to the RedSerpent clan.
I will ask you, what do you think is a great man to you?
Is it someone, who wields power, which has influence? A member of great clan? Someone with skill?
Are people great because they rule over others?”
The whole city was silent, no one was moving. Not even the golden gowned man that was just about to kill him was moving.
“I will tell you what a great person is. The humans once had a class of people they called nobles. These nobles were rulers of fractions and of kingdoms. They were rich, they had power, and they had influence.”
An understanding could be seen in Zes eyes.
“But that made them no great people. What made them great people, were the rules they made themselves. The principles they had and the fact that they were following them.
Actually there is an even better example. In a former human country, there was a group of people called samurais. These samurais had principles and rules they were following. Out of these principles many were self-imposed. How to live, how to kill, how to die.
But the most impressive fact was that they were willing to die for their rules and principles. Even if they had to die following their orders, they would die willingly.
And most important. Even if they themselves knew that their rules and principles were not working anymore, they knew that what they did was wrong and they knew it would bring them no benefit.
They were still willing to die for it. And they died.
Don't you think, that's what a great person is? A person following his own way, his own rules and principles. Even if they were bad or good, does it matter?
For me, these humans, these samurais, these nobles were great people worth of admiration.
That's why I will stick to my principles and never surrender. Even if it means the end of my bloodline.”
With this his speech ended. It stayed silent until the gold gowned man started laughing.
“Really? Are you for real? Great people? Humans? You have wasted your last words with such a worthless thing?
If you really admire these humans so much. Then I will send you right to them.”
With that he threw his fist toward Gay's head in attempt to crush it.

Alternate titles: - Five, Twenty-Three, Twenty-Nine Years - 5, 23, 29 "Dad? I think I got a really bad fever, why do I still feel fine?" "It feels cold..." Five years ago, Owen became a Court Wizard in search of his father who was lost to the unknown three years prior. But that wasn't the beginning of the story. Maybe it began twenty-three years ago when Ronald Bell and Joshua Ruze saved the Illyer family. Or perhaps, it all started twenty-nine years ago, when Ronald, the son of the wealthiest merchant, became a Court Wizard. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, for the story five, twenty-three, and twenty-nine years ago shall now meet its end. 2nd book written in the Wizards of the Otherworldly series. Read Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia first. This story is split into two 'Collections,' Ronald's Collection and Owen's Collection, each centering around those Court Wizards. Crossposted with WordPress site, Wattpad, Sufficient Velocity, and Rainobu. Wizards of the Otherworldly Court is a fantasy story about the Otherworldly Court, an inter-dimensional (or world-hopping, you get the idea) organization made up of people of all ages, gender, and race from many parallel or different worlds. They are granted elemental-like magic powers and called themselves 'Court Wizards'. They are tasked to watch over the many worlds they come across and step into these worlds on 'missions' to preserve the balance, life, order, anything to make said worlds better places in the shadows but may reveal themselves if necessary. However, these missions may partially or even fully oppose their nature, personal interests, and ideals. Yet, most of the Court Wizards are aware and willing to complete even the worst missions that would shatter their true selves that they will never cast aside regardless, either growing or regressing because of it. Basically, it's isekai to multiple worlds but each book after Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia focuses primarily on one world while also discussing its lore in detail. Book Alicia is the introduction containing the essential worldbuilding of the Otherworldly Court universe you need to know while shoving in as many characters and worlds as I can. Also, each book will have a different main character, sometimes more than one in a single book, like Jojo.

Prime Magus of Earth
"In the beginning, I had no idea what was going on. My brother and friends were gone, my sight was gone, and yet I still saw things, things about this world that no one else knew. Humans just didn't know how to do it, didn't know how to nuture that small spark in them. Now you do." - Prime Magus of Earth, Alexander Sorin. November 2021 Update: So, it has been four years since I stopped working on this. Reading back, the first "book" is finished. It has what feels like an ending to an arc. Now it isn't a perfect story but I still like it and I can see myself starting the second book, might even this on Amazon or something. My biggest regret was never coming up with artwork for the cover though. Maybe I'll look into it.
