《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 2- Sovereign's Battleground

Han Ling stared at the blue screen, watching the white words with shaking eyes. He reached out and felt his fingers past through the screen, but a tri-ring sounded and words vanished. A red cup popped up, and red liquid started to fill it, a percentage appeared above the cup, showing the percentage of the cup being filled.
Han Ling snorted as he remembered this loading screen, there would be people who said that the cup was filled with blood. He used to disagree, saying people are jumping to conclusion, but now he knew better, the blood that would be spilled would fill a million cups in the future…
A tri-ring woke Han Ling from his thoughts, and he looked up. The cup was filled, a red 100% floated above it, and a blood red word formed below the cup.
START
Han Ling raised his hand, and clicked the word. A loud buzz sounded in his ear as the screen spewed white ethereal lines into the air. Those lines spun and weaved like falling leaves, they spun to Han Ling twisting and turning around him. A soft warm glow covered the man, bathing him in golden light. Han Ling remembered the sensation, he has missed it dearly, the feeling of ascension. He opened his eyes and saw the screen lit up before being replaced with a list of words.

Just as the thought flitted in his mind, another tri-ring sounded, and a large list appear into front of Han Ling. He read the top of the list…
BASIC CLASSES
Han Ling gazed through the list and stopped when he saw the class he wanted, he clicked on it without hesitation. A golden glow covered Han Ling again, much more intense than before. Han Ling’s eyes opened, revealing glowing golden eyes, before fading away like a flickering bulb.
He checked his stats again.

~~~
Han Ling nodded, satisfied with the increase in stats and additional skill. The most important thing for a swordsman would be attack speed, the faster your attacks, the more damage you can do. Sovereign’s Battleground has hundreds of classes, and each class has a upgradable class based on the 10 elements, fire, earth, water, wind, lighting, ice, wood, dark, light and energy.
Each class can change into one of the elements that players can pick. In the past Han Ling was a fire swordsman, one of the most offensive classes in the world. However, it won’t be enough in the future. I regretted going for the fire swordsman just because it’s cool. I’ll need something more versatile and more of a one man army. And I know what to pick…
However, players can only pick their elemental classes after LV 30, and players have only just gotten their interfaces. Han Ling looked outside, not surprised to see people panicking over the blue screen in front of their faces. But then a high pitch scream sounded on the street. A middle-aged man lay sprawled on the ground, convulsing and twitching as fur sprung all over his skin. The woman who screamed froze as the man issued a low growl from his throat, foam dripping from his lengthening maw. His body grew larger, shoulders broadening and bones growing.
In a few seconds, the human disappeared, revealing a beast twice the size of an average man, saliva dripping off his maw, eyes blood red and flexing his sharp claws. The beast looked at his hands, emotions flickering through his eyes.
Tsk… Looks like its starting…
A giant red hole appeared on the streets, spewing faint red energy onto the streets. That energy turned people into beasts, transforming them into wolfmen and wolfwomen.
The first calamity had begun.
Many Minded
Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author.
