《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 6- ITS A MANA BODY!!!

“How are the portals being handled?” A young man in his 30s asked as he sipped on his coffee. His hawk-like eyes scanned the city below, pinpointing every movement.
A beautiful woman with her hair tied up into a bun reported with a bow. “It has been two days since the calamity sir. Already 100 thousand people have perished and hundreds of thousands more injured. But the military has managed to close the portals in major streets with the help of players.”
The young man sighed. “What has our world become?” he put his cup down and sat on the chair, bringing his fingers together. “Anything interesting?”
The woman pulled a piece of paper from a folder and placed it on the desk. “In the district of Shinjuku, the red portal there was closed by a single teenage boy.” The man frowned. “A teen? How can a teen close a portal? Even teams of players struggled to close a single portal!”
“I’m afraid it’s the truth sir…” The woman pulled a tablet and placed it on the desk. “This is the security footage from Shinjuku.” The screen lit up, showing a teenage boy slicing off the heads of the wolfmen. “The reports also say that he’s a LVL 6 player. Making him the highest levelled player in Japan right now.”
“Impressive…” The young man widened his eyes as the teen moved faster than a cat could blink. “Who is this teen?” “Name is Han Ling, a 15-year-old boy who works at a nearby convenience store. He doesn’t really have any notable friends or family. An aunt living in Hokkaido but that’s it.”
The young man was silent for a while, looking down on the tablet before opening his mouth. “Find him and get him to work for us. A young man like him is rare.” The woman nodded and turned to leave.

The young man got up, walked to the window, and sighed. “Sovereign’s Battleground… A curse or blessing?”
~~~
Inside an apartment, Han Ling sat on his bed, staring at the blue screen in front of him, his hand gripping his chin.
Han Ling blinked. Then rubbed his eyes till they were red.
WHAT THE F*CK! A MANA SKIN?!!! HOLY SHIT!!!
A mana skin is practically a cheat technique. Mana skin allows players to enter any extreme environments, a mana skin will keep the player cool in deserts, warm in frozen wastelands, even able to survive in a poisonous swamp. It’s the most important skill for dungeon divers., without it many players suffered horrific deaths inside dungeons. Han Ling gulped, feeling sweat dripping off his chin, his eyes were flashing a excitement coursed through his body.
“AMAZING! THIS IS F*CKING AMAZING!! THE GODDESS OF LUCK LOVES ME!!!”
Han Ling screamed out, causing the building to shake with his screams. Due to the dungeon outbreak nearby, nearly no one is in their homes, all of them moved with the crowd, living in tents next to military camps for safety.
He scrolled into the shop, typing something on the screen before dumping his coins into it.
Han Ling nodded once before turning to the shop again. I need a weapon that would suit me now…
He came to the weapons section only to find annoyance. He used up all his good money on the mana organ, leaving him with a single sovereign and 320 drabs. His main goal now is too level up as fast as possible, reaching LVL 10 to obtain the class rank up. Plus he needed a weapon and sovereigns, normal currency would be useless in the future.
To save humanity, he must reach LVL 25 in one month before the Outsiders appear in the world. Currently there should be a couple of LVL 3 players, and most are still confused of the system. This would give me at least a week of time before people start levelling up. So what do I do?
Han Ling frowned as he combed his memories, trying to remember any dungeons that specifically mentions wolves. “Haish… I don’t remember dungeons with measly wolves… this is a problem.” He stuffed some supplies into his bag, putting on a hood before leaving his house. If I don’t find dungeons with wolves, then I’ll have to make do with other dungeons.
The teen went to the streets, pausing to look at the body bags littered on the side. Cries were erupting from the sides, families crying, friends crying, sons crying…
“MAMA!!! MAMA!!!” A little boy shock the cold corpse of a woman, tears falling down like raining clouds. As if God set the mood, a slow drizzle fell. Han Ling stared at the little boy… A little sadness flickered in his eyes. I will never get used to this…
He walked past the boy…
Thinking of the horrors the world shall see one day…
Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.
