《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 81 - Mythic Pavilion Auction House

Han Ling sat on a log, pondering deeply as the guards of the White Tiger Sect, scrambled around to set up a defensive perimeter till the main elites arrived. “I suspected it, but Heng’s explanation sets them all in stone…”
In Han Ling’s past life, the Royal Family was brought done because of a string of powerful sects switching sides, it was unknown as to which sects swapped sides because they changed their names in the process, but Han Ling was certain now that the Northern Avenging Sect was one of these traitors.
“Heng didn’t know much but from the fact that Ching knew of ‘Demon Three’ means they’re colluding with the Unorthodox cults. Han Ling sighed out loud, “Demon Three…” in the past life, Han Ling had battled him before and to say the least, he was a living nightmare.
The Seven Demons. There were records of them from the Royal Palace, but the summary would be 7 people all trained by the worst of the worst cultivators, Demon One, their leader was said to be the descendant of the great Hei Wu.
Han Ling sighed in frustration, the seven were all monsters in their specialties, and Han Ling is way too weak to go up against even the weakest of them.
He gripped his fists tightly, eyes flamed with determination, “I won’t have time to rest…”
“Brother Han Ling? Are you alright?” Bai Ye Qing came up to him, concern written all over his face. “Sorry, Ye Qing, but I won’t be able to return to with you.” Ye Qing looked confused, “Why?” “I just need to stretch my legs a bit, I’ll see you in a few days.” He then proceeded to fly into the air, zooming towards a certain direction.
“What happened just now?” Bai Ye Qing was completely confused, suddenly someone wanted to kidnap him and then Brother Han Ling kicked him far away only returning an hour after with a dark face. “Uncle, what happened?” He found Bai Qing Tian walking towards him, looking slightly ragged. “Someone attack us, an immortal supreme, he didn’t kill us but it seemed like he was just distracting us…”
“Someone tried to kidnap me.” Qing Tian widened his eyes, understanding why immediately, “Was it another cult member?” Ye Qing shook his head, “I don’t think so, there was no demonic qi coming off his techniques, and Brother Han Ling pushed him away and vanished.” He proceeded to explain why Han Ling left as well, and Qing Tian frowned. “Gone in a few days? I wonder if he’s heading to the other chances of fate…”

A few days later…
News of a lone cultivator dominating the Chances of Fate reached Ye Qing’s ears, as well as the ears of powerful sects all around. “It seems Brother Han Ling really did went to all the Chances of Fate.” Bai Hua sighed, “I wanted to see him before he left.”
Ye Qing looked at his sister quizzically, “You really like him huh.” Bai Hua blushed furiously, “What isn’t to like about him!” Ye Qing sighed, “Even if he’s extremely cruel? You remember what he did to those Demonic Blood Cult members.” Bai Hua froze, then nodding slowly, “Yes I remember… but other than that he’s really cool, and very strong…”
“That is true…” Both of them sighed.
Right then an enormous explosion erupted from the distance, a red cloud of ash formed the shape of a mushroom as something enormous crawled out.
Every single person in Guan An city stared at the beast with shock written all over their face, and it didn’t take long for panic to completely grip them, screaming and scrambling about.
The White Tiger Sect mobilized their forces as the guardians of the city, Bai Ye Qing himself led the attack, riding towards the giant beast on their own spirit beasts. “Ready your weapons!” He roared as they closed in on the beast. But as they closed in, they realized two things.
One, the beast was the size of an entire mountain, a great giant earth lion. Two, the lion was attacking something, or well swatting at something in the sky but the group couldn’t tell.
Bai Ye Qing however instantly knew who it was the moment a bright red flash erupted in the sky, cleaving an entire arm off the rock beast. With a roar of pain, the lion threw a giant boulder towards the enemy, yet it exploded into a thousand pieces before even reaching the target. The small shrapnel broken from the boulder slammed into the beast like a barrage of bullets.
Bai Ye Qing grinned unknowingly, “Hold you ground!” the cultivators around him looked at him in confusion, but that confusion soon disappeared as a blinding light, not unlike a sun appeared. Bai Ye Qing had to squint hard to see a massive orb floating above the hand of a young man, with a face he knew well enough.
“False Sun.”
And the bright sun slammed into the beast, engulfing it with orange flames, burning it into a hulking piece of coal, unmoving like rock.
“Talk about overkill…” Ye Qing muttered under his breath, but was grinning happily as the flying person came down to land in front of Ye Qing. “You pretty much scared the entire city you know?” Han Ling chuckled, slightly embarrassed, “This bastard ran straight to the surface, and I couldn’t finish him in time, my bad.”

Ye Qing and Han Ling shook hands, smiles on their faces as they travelled back to Guan An City, the hulking mass of coal starting to disintegrate to a powerful wind.
As they travelled, Han Ling told Ye Qing of his travels of the past few days, hunting monsters without any sleep or rest, a very typical Han Ling move…
Han Ling travelled to the two other Chances of Fate around Guan An city, the Chance of Fate in Sharp Peak and the one in Cave of Tears. Both were Sage Chances of Fate, but the tests were much easier compared to the Thunder Tiger Sage Lord, the rewards were good though, Han Ling got a powerful Sage Fire Technique from the Cave of Tears, the False Sun.
He also obtained a useful Sage Wind Technique, Infinite Wind, the ability to control wind infinitely, as long as there is air, there will be wind qi, which allows Han Ling to fly indefinitely.
Useful, but still not enough…
“Ye Qing, is there an auction house in Guan An city?” Ye Qing blinked in surprise, “You’re looking to sell things? Or to purchase things?” “Both.”
Ye Qing grinned widely, “Sure there is, in fact, tomorrow, the Mythic Pavilion will open an auction for powerful items. I can help you book a spot brother; I have a friend who works there.” “Then please do.”
Before returning to the White Tiger Sect, Han Ling first paid a visit to the Mythic Pavilion Auction house, finding a massive mansion beautifully decorated with a rainbow of colours, Han Ling could sense many powerful experts in the house, chatting away happily as they put their items on the auction.
“Here, I’ll lead you to the counter.” An assistant saw Bai Ye Qing and upon recognition, she guided both Ye Qing and Han Ling to a secluded room. “Please wait while I call for the manager.” Han Ling raised an eyebrow to Ye Qing, seeing his face smug made him wanna shock him just for fun… “The White Tiger Sect is the strongest sect in Guan An city, of course we’ll be getting VIP treatment hehehe.” Han Ling sighed, “As long as I get what I want.”
Soon enough, a beautiful, fairy-like woman entered the room, luscious black hair flowing down her back, a refined pale face that would send men clambering for her. “It’s good to see you again, Young Master Ye Qing.” She first bowed to Ye Qing, to which he respectfully returned a bow, then she turned to Han Ling a gentle smile on her face. “May I know your name, little brother?”
“Han Ling, a rogue cultivator.” The woman widened her eyes in surprise but hid it quickly, “I see, I am Lady Ping, the manager of the Guan An branch of the Mystic Pavilion Auction House.”
“To what do I owe the pleasure to you gentlemen?” Han Ling spared no hesitation, pulling out a storage ring he obtained from a Chance of Fate and placed it on the table.
“These are the items I wish to sell.” Han Ling poured out a multitude of glowing items onto the table, shocking both Lady Ping and Ye Qing. “S-So many!” Ye Qing gaped towards Han Ling. Han Ling then noticed something among the items and threw it towards Ye Qing, “This is for you, since you’re here as well.”
Ye Qing inspected the item and gaped, he slowly turned to Han Ling and tears were seen in his eyes. “T-T-This is a Sage Technique…” Ye Qing would know since he obtained one from the Thunder Tiger Sage Lord, but for Han Ling to just give him a Sage technique so easily…
Item: Freezing Wave
Rank: Sage
Cultivation level required: 2nd rank Immortal Spirit
Description: A surge of frost capable of freezing all who are weaker than the user, holding them in place.
He was close to bursting to tears. “Thank you brother! You’ll forever be my elder brother!” He tried to hug Han Ling but he threw a second item to his face.
“That’s for Bai Hua.”
Item: Frost Tipped Sabre
Rank: Sage
Cultivation level required: 1st rank Immortal Spirit
Description: A blade so cold and sharp it freezes anything coming to contact with it.
“Wow, another sage item? What did you do to obtain so many?” Lady Ping couldn’t help but ask, shocked that a man would just give Sage Items like they were candy. “Chances of Fate.” Han Ling just replied indifferently before pushing a small pile of items towards Lady Ping.
“Please inspect them and put them up for auction, I would like to use the funds I obtain to purchase other items.” Han Ling spoke calmly, a much more modest expression compared to the look of shock on Lady Ping’s face.
“H-Heavens!”
Every single items was at least of Earth rank or higher, with a mass majority of them being Heaven ranked items, and there were even a handful of Sage items!

They have been chosen to lead humanity out into space, guiding and protecting them as they gather resources and rebuild their population so that they may someday return home. But the very procedures meant to prepare them for the challenges ahead cause them to become despised and feared and looked upon as something monstrous. *** Updated biweekly on Tuesdays. [Schedule is currently a bit borked due to poor health, looking to finish up the first section of this book by the end of the year then back to a regular schedule in January] This is a kitchen sink space opera. It originated off me lamenting the lack of witches in space and has spiraled out of control from there.

Clarent Saga: Chronicles
Based on my work on Saga of the Jewels, I've been hired by an indie game developer to write the novel for their 'novel + turn-based battles' game which is in Early Access on Steam. Of course, a 'novel + turn based battles' is a terrible idea for a game, which is why no other games like this exist, but hey, the developer is paying me. And if something's worth doing at all, it's worth doing as well as possible, so I am going to give this project my very best shot and try to make it as good as it can be. So if you read this, please give me feedback on the story to help me make it as good as it can be! Please note, for this story I have been given a pre-existent set of characters, character back-story sketches and a rough plot to work with. I also have to insert random battles into the narrative, have set characters appear in a certain order, and have the party fight fixed bosses in a certain order, all at fixed points! Please also note that this is a first draft. I will be editing and re-working this in the future and re-posting it. But I need helpful feedback, if anyone can give it. You can also find the game version of this on Steam by searching there for 'Clarent Saga: Chronicles'.
