《Slave Company》Slave Company Chapter 51 Bloody Dust

Watching this play act out from high ground, Avian considered for a moment what to do as he watched the surrounded adventurers running out of time second by second.
Everyone else looked nervous and anxious as they watched what was happening down below, they couldn’t imagine how these adventurers could have ended up in such a precarious situation with so many goblins, if it was them they would have likely realized way before that they were being ambushed by goblins long before the ambushed happened considering they had someone like Dahlia who could sense other creatures approaching them.
This was the thing though, they had the advantage of having someone like Dahlia who could scout in a very big radius allowing them to avoid ambushes and surprises, while this party clearly didn’t, even though they also had a magic user, the [Wizard] woman clearly didn’t have an ability or spell similar to Dahlia’s [Spiritual Sense] which is why it was slightly unfair to compare the two of them when they clearly had different perks.
Avian was still thinking while looking at these newbie adventurers holding onto dear life, the reason he was hesitating was solely because of the [Wizard] he had discovered, for the upcoming monster horde Avian felt incentivized to save any sort of useful war potential that could combat the monster horde, a single Area Of Effect spell like a [Fireball] would be enough to kill a few dozens of monsters, [Wizards] certainly excelled in wide open battlefields with lots of targets everywhere, the only problem was Avian wasn’t sure if this was a fight he wanted to take, what worried him the most was the unknown rank 1 or maybe even rank 2 creature that was the leader of these goblins, Avian most definitely didn’t want to fight if it was rank 2, but if it was rank 1…
-Master! Please give your orders! They can’t hold on any longer!
Hearing Gabriella say so, Avian watched the [Wizard] suddenly collapse as she had finally run out of mana, the goblins seeing this laughed and hollered in glee as they all understood what this meant, the act was about to be finished.
The other 4 adventurers looked pale, exhausted and desperate trying to find ways to escape somehow, but there clearly wasn’t any way out with so many goblins making them despair as they realized they were going to die here.
Avian looked at them, his eyes cold and calculating, he did not care about the lives of these people at all, the only reason he stuck along was because of the [Wizard], if Avian could exchange the lives of these 4 random adventurers for the life of the [Wizard] he would have done so within a heartbeat and gotten out of here.
But clearly that was just wishful thinking, a convenient fantasy, if he wanted to save the [Wizard] he needed to get through the goblins and save them all together, there was no other way.
Avian made a decision, smelling the scent of opportunity as he told Dahlia.
-You told me earlier you had a spell that’s affect a wide area and blinds everyone, do it now and aim at everyone bellow.
Dahlia didn’t have an opinion regarding this and simply did as Avian told her to.

Everyone else who saw this, knew what was going to happen next, already having experienced a battle once together, they weren’t as tense as they were before, but this was also a completely different scale of their first battle, Cornelia and Deborah especially felt their spine freeze up seeing this many goblins, they were considered a total pest in this world similar to cockroaches, alone they were nothing, but in numbers they were extremely scary to the point a whole nation could be burned to the ground by a single super goblin tribe.
This wasn’t mere exaggeration either, it happened in the past before, goblins while famous for their despicable nature, were also known to be irrationally vicious and ruthless, they ate almost anything they could eat including humans and burned anything they didn’t like, like towns and villages.
They could barely produce anything on their own and relied on pillage and hunting to survive, luckily goblins in this world weren’t known to capture women and to rape them to produce more off spring, goblins had both female and male races and despised the looks of other races having their own aesthetic sense of beauty which could be considered goblin culture if they had any.
In either case everyone started to get prepared, Cornelia hiding with her [Stealth] while Deborah readying her bow to fire a [Aimed Shot] with the others doing similar things, amongst their preparation Dahlia was casting her spell, and just like the times before a small brief image of a creature appeared beside Dahlia to aid her, this time it was similar to the ember like spirit, though it looked more like a floating rock with small stony facial features and pebbles for limbs.
Dahlia concentrated and finished her spell as she chanted.
-[Dust Storm]!
As soon as she finished her spell a strange phenomenon occurred in the open area the goblins and the 5 newbie adventurers were standing in.
Getting prepared to charge in and slaughter those fools, the goblins weren’t expecting anything to happen at this point as they noticed the dirt underneath them move from the wind that was picking up, quickly enough a storm of dust was created as the goblins all fell into a panic shielding their faces and closing their eyes in fear of the dust getting into their eyes causing the vision of all the goblins to decline instantly.
The newbies adventurers were just as surprised, getting enveloped by the [Dust Storm] the same as the goblins they shielded themselves with their hands not knowing what to do as their vision declined just as much.
Everyone on Avian’s side watched with amazement about what just happened, Dahlia was still in a concentrated position keeping the spell active indefinitely through her concentration, but as she was doing so she noticed that Avian was inching away from her.
Becoming slightly flustered she turned towards him trying to understand what he was doing, but Avian stood up and looked at her before speaking.
-Dahlia, stay here and keep this spell going, it is of utmost importance that you keep this spell going on until I tell you to stop, Me and Gabriella will be going down to rescue those adventurers while everyone else will stay here and wait for us while attacking the goblins from here with ranged weapons, Dahlia I will remind you again, under no circumstances stop the spell, if you stop the spell me and Gabriella may end up in mortal danger and die by the goblins hand, concentrate on the spell and nothing more, its easy, I know you can do this, I believe in you.

-Ah…no! Master! Don’t go!
Not even giving her a chance to catch him, Avian walked off together with Gabriella as they started to run towards the [Dust Storm].
Gabriella looked a bit surprised about what Avian had just done, she looked at the pitiful looking Dahlia who looked like she was about to cry before painfully turning back to her master who was already way ahead of her.
Dahlia left behind all by herself with Deborah, Cornelia and Ogra, felt extreme fear and nervousness the moment Avian separated from her, the other 3 saw this and knew that if this continued Dahlia wouldn’t be able to keep up the spell and put Avian and Gabriella into a tough situation.
They tried to comfort Dahlia who looked like her whole world was crumbling, but they didn’t know what to do since compared to everyone else, Dahlia seemed to be only interested in Avian making them not sure how to exactly interact with her.
But as Dahlia looked as if she was about collapse, she heard Avian shouting out to her.
-Dahlia! Just think of me! Think of me and nothing else! Concentrate on the spell and think of me! I am ordering you as your master!
Those words made her feel confused, but all of a sudden, she started to do exactly what Avian had just told her.
Filtering out everything else in her mind, Dahlia started to solely think about Avian as she concentrated on her spell as well, he wasn’t with him anymore, she couldn’t feel his warmth and the safe presence he exuded, but the thought of him alone brought her great comfort as she remembered all the brief memories she had with Avian who treated her so gently and full of concern.
Dahlia was still scared without Avian near her, but she knew he would come back, and to make it even more true she also knew that she needed to keep this spell up no matter what until Avian came back and told her to stop.
Unbeknownst to her, great amount of spiritual energy started to flow within her soul and go into one of her contracted spirits.
Dahlia currently had 4 contracts spirits.
Nixie, the water spirit.
Ghost Ember, the fire spirit.
Sylph, the wind spirit.
And Lesser Earth Elemental, the earth spirit.
All the excess spiritual energy, that wasn’t included in the contract, which was usually evenly distributed between all the 4 spirits suddenly started to shift as all the spiritual energy entered the Lesser Earth Element instead, making the other 3 spirits quite mad as they surrounded the Lesser Earth Elemental wanting to know what this was all about!
The Lesser Earth Elemental obviously didn’t know anything, but it felt the wish of its contractor and felt delighted by the amount of energy it was receiving, to compensate it the Lesser Earth Elemental helped its contractor some more through using the vast amount of spiritual energy it was receiving causing quite a bit of change as the effects took off immediately.
The [Dust Storm] which started to look slightly disturbed previously immediately went back into shape as it somewhat even started to strengthen in power then before becoming fiercer and powerful as it produced gales and more dust.
A wild commotion could be heard as the goblins shouted and cried not knowing left from right, the already wild commotion became even more chaotic when the [Dust Storm] strengthened In power as the goblins bumped into each other causing some chaotic infighting as the goblins couldn’t differentiate between ally and foe in this fierce [Dust Storm].
The newbie adventures stayed in place, with no vision of where to go and knowing they were surrounded by goblins they couldn’t just go out and risk bumping into the goblins.
Someone else could though, using his [Blood Sense] Avian didn’t really require his eyes to see in this [Dust Storm], and since the area was open walking wasn’t trouble either, instead he turned towards Gabriella who looked unsure for a second witnessing the fierce [Dust Storm].
She knew why they were here and she wasn’t worried for herself, but she didn’t know that Avian possessed the blessing of the [Hemomancer] with its capabilities.
She only knew that Avian was a strong [Monster Tamer] who had decent close quarter combat ability, she wanted to ask if he would be better off leaving this to her, but instead Avian spoke first.
-Can you fight in this [Dust Storm]?
Gabriella was momentarily flustered by the question as Avian who should be the one worried was asking it, but he looked calm and composed just like always making her even more unsure on what to say before she replied confidently.
-Against goblins? Any day of the week master!
-Good, then we’re going in.
Receiving the affirmation, Avian didn’t even bother to wait anymore as he drew his short spear and entered the [Dust Storm] with his eyes closed, seeing him do this, Gabriella was panicked as she quickly followed along with her sword and shield.
Avian sensing all the blood within the goblins around him, felt right at home as he felt this fight to be much easier then usually.
Deciding to beeline it, Avian wasn’t planning on fighting all these goblins and instead decided to slaughter a path for himself, meeting the first goblin right as he walked in, the goblin didn’t even know what was happening, before it felt a spear perforate its back and through its chest, killing it instantly.
Gabriella too fought with much ease, staying close to Avian to make sure nothing snuck up on him, she fought relying on her experience as the [Dust Storm] didn’t do much to hamper her ability.
Slashing to the left, she cut off a goblins head as the smell of blood mixed into the [Dust Storm] as Avian and Gabriella made their way to the newbie Adventurers.
