《A Forgotten Soul》Chapter 4: A Choice Surpassing Lifetimes

Satou had stepped into a world of white spaces that stretched infinitely, completely dotted with massive black spheres. He looked around and observed the great vastness, slowly taking in the magnitude of his surroundings.
“So I’m supposed to pick one out of countless…”,Satou sighed.
The only thing Satou had to do was simply pick a single universe out of an infinite amount of them. It was simple and nothing really extraordinary. He could merely pick the closest one to him.
Though that may be the simplest choice but was it the wisest choice? The universe he picks will be the one he will be bound to until who knows how long. So Satou ended up giving himself the absurd task of looking through a never ending supply of choices, for the best choice without really knowing if there’s going to be a better choice somewhere else.
It would be easier to find the best suited planet to live in a universe with who knows how many billions of planets, because in the end there are only so many that will be left after countless years of searching. But was there a way to overcome something that went on infinitely?
The answer was simply, No. And that’s something Satou understood completely.
So he began his arduous journey of flying through the space observing each black sphere, attempting to find the small of clues, the tiniest of hints, or something that could possibly help him make his decision. He didn’t know exactly what he was looking for, he didn’t know if he would be even able to find anything at all. But he looked, and he was intent on looking as long as it would take.
When Satou would later recall this, he himself didn’t know whether or not this act was due to just pure stubbornness, desperation, or do to his own indecisiveness. He did not think himself a man that would follow things through to the end. And he would only do things for so long, so the actions he took puzzled even himself. What exactly strove him for so long exactly?
Because he continued to observe each sphere unceasingly. It was unknown to him the amount of the time that’s passed and of the sheer number of spheres he’s actually seen. But he understood that it far surpassed anything that he normally would've done. Was it a month? Was it a year? He didn’t exactly know how long it was ,but he just kept on moving on.

And in the end he didn’t even realize it, but Satou had flown for nearly ten thousand years in this unchanging white space filled only with black spheres. Maybe if he were somewhere else he would’ve realized how long it’s been. If he were still on Earth he would've known how long he’s been going for. But maybe he wouldn’t. They are all possibilities, and no way to really find an answer. After all an immortal’s sense of time is not something so easily understood by the minds of mortal men. And this includes Satou himself. After all, what is a few millennia in the face of an eternity.
But perseverance like Satou's is rare even among immortals who are hardly affected by the flow of time. I mean it's not to say immortals will simply stagnate over the countless years they exist. They too will change over time. So to persevere for those thousands of years, is a feat difficult even for immortals. Even a God’s rage would dissipate after a couple thousand. But whether not it was something worthy of praise can still be argued, since the key to Satou’s perseverance, was simply his own ignorance.
But I suppose ignorance is bliss. And there were benefits, after all he was flying for a stupidly long time. The main benefit he received were the gradually changes in his soul. His soul had grown far stronger than before, though it was still insignificant compared to a God's. But with this he is a few steps closer to being almighty, and given time he will be. And time is by far something that Satou's not lacking.
Eventually Satou stopped in front of a single large black sphere, and looked at it. And it was no different from any of the other thousands of sphere’s he’s looked at. No matter how hard he looked at it, no matter what angle he stared from, or how long he tried he would not see a thing. I mean how could he?
In actuality, each sphere is the entirety of a Universe and all it holds, compressed into a small ball. The only people who would be able to see anything were Gods. Other than Gods and those with strength equivalent to them there were no other beings in existence that could peer into the space and observe the the countless dimensions, sub-dimension, and timelines that were compressed to a size far smaller than any subatomic particle that existed on Earth.

“Again this sphere is no different from the last sphere…”, thought Satou.
“Though it’s not like i was really expecting anything…”
He couldn’t help but think to himself,
”Must I leave really it to fate? Why couldn’t i just have a rather convenient teleportation from the start, some crazy overpowered cheats to make life easy, and some ridiculous amount of plot armor if you were gonna write this-”
Satou once again not having learned his lesson….
No, i suppose it’s my fault he hasn’t learned his lesson because i keep erasing his memory. Well i suppose that’s enough. Let’s see we press reset check the memory lose to ensure we stay on topic, and then flip pain off. We need to get back on track, flying through empty space and this sort of meaningless exposition isn’t the most entertaining thing after all. Well let’s see. Oh at this point Satou says....
“Ow, why do i get migraines even if i don’t have a body?”, Satou couldn’t help but complain about this odd phenomenon.
Satou who was finally tired of looking around, made his way to the black sphere in front of him and decided to leave it to fate. That and as the narrator on this part the author just found it a pain to make a number higher than a thousand and have-
Fine, I’ll get back on track.
And when he approached it he felt an extreme amount of suction trying to drag him into the sphere, kind of like a black hole. Or at least what he thought was like a black hole. I mean have you ever been in a black hole? I don’t think so!
Oh shit where’d the script go!? Where’s the script!?
And that was how this non-existent narrator of sorts got fired.
…
Somewhere in the middle of a forest of almost entirely of red, there was a large circle filled with intricate symbols and characters written on the ground. And from the just as blood red sky a single bright light descended, slowly dissipating revealing a single bald, red skinned child in the nude. The child was hover in the air for but a few seconds, before he fell to the floor opening his eyes.
The child looked around with a puzzled expression. He walked around the circle, and went up to the flora who had an unusual red color. He touched the grass, the trees, and looked at the sky.
He made his way back to the circle, and looked at it intently. Then another bright light fell from the sky, shocking the first child. He stood up and backed away from the bright light, which was slowly dissipating like before revealing another red child.
The first red child stared at the child who just appeared out of thin air with an expression that only revealed complete utter shock. But what attracted his attention the most was the other child’s crotch.
He immediately started examining his body, moving his eyes and arms everywhere as if confirming something. Then both his eyes and arms moved to his crotch, and with a shocked face he fell to his knees and screamed”JUNIOR!”
Yes, this red child was the immortal man floating through space for ten thousand years. The man previously called Yuki Satou, reincarnated with a few missing pieces.
It ended up longer than i thought! So i don't feel like making another chapter. If i do make one it will probably be on Friday or Saturday. So i'll leave you guys with this odd cliffhanger. Tell me if you find any mistakes as my friend who was helping me proof and edit this was busy. So i did it myself. I was also a bit tired to there could be some problems. But nonetheless enjoy. Oh and don't be afraid to criticize me, as long as you have a valid point i welcome it.
