《The Inventor of Magic》12: Physical Class pt.2

As per popular request in the poll, I will increase the chapter length from tomorrow to around 2.5kish. The chapters may take two days to write but for the immediate future I will still try to upload daily and go from there.
Anyway, that's from tomorrow. For now, enjoy! ^O^
"1, 2, 3!",
The other boy immediately jumped backwards and started to activate an array,
"Activate array, Q746A [Ice Shot]!",
He still needs to use array codes? Can't they just memories them? If I were in his position I would have just stood still and brought up my defenses. Seriously, I know magic devices haven't been out for long, but what have they been teaching these kids these past two years!?
Mana particles in the air flew towards the boy's wrist where his mana device was located and suddenly a shard of ice started forming in mid air. You could visibly tell its temperature by the mist that surrounded it!
Suddenly the shard shot straight towards me. Seriously he wants to use this? Any elementary defense would easily deal with an attack of this caliber.
"Divert central siphons along route four to my right hand.", I muttered the commands outloud just so I could remember what to do. In simple terms it just activates a chosen array in the hand instead of the internal array, which means it will look like I'm using the Magic Devive that Lucy found for me.
I think a simple [Mana Wall] will do it. As soon as I thought of activating the array signal was interrupted by my internal Magic Device and diverted along the nerves to my hand where it was transferred to the secondary Magic Device. Working how to do this little trick took a whole two weeks of my time and it took another three months of on and off tinkering to finish. All that effort was for a situation like this where I wouldn't be able to use my internal Magic Device publicly.

The array activated and the mana particles formed an invisible shield in front of where I was standing which did the trick. If a shattered ice shard were anything to go by.
How should I finish this? A more powerful ice shard would do it. Bu~t that would be childish. Like saying that I'm obviously more powerful than you! MWAGAHAHA! But unfortunately that is not my sort of taste. "Oh, I'll just make him surrender.", I muttered to myself.
[Physical Enhancement], quickly a pale blue light surrounded me and I could feel my body becoming increasingly stronger. Physical Enhancement. It's an odd one, I originally wasn't going to create an array like this but I made it one day because some builders left a skip on my drive and it was blocking my view, so I invented this and picked the skip up before moving it.
Of course Richard being the man he is, an entrepreneur before a friend, decided that it would be a good thing to sell to the army and before I knew it our joint skiing trip to France was cancelled and we'd begun production.
Anyhow, I dashed towards the boy and held my first ready in a position to hit him in the face.
10 meters,
7 meters,
3 meters,
Suddenly I lashed out with my fist!
"Stop!!!", a panicked voice came from behind me and my fist stopped a centimeter away from the boy- Er Stuart's head. I quickly changed my fist into a flicking motion and flicked him on the forehead before turning around to meet the mystery voice.
Oh it's David.
David quickly walked past me and quickly grabbed Stuart's shocked face and began to inspect it for any fist imprints.
Sighing David stopped manhandling Stuart's face and turned to look at me. "What the hell Zach! That was a military grade array! You could have blown his bloody head off!", David shouted furiously. "Follow me to my office now!", and with that David stormed off in the direction of his office.

While following him I turned to the teacher of the class," Excuse me sir, it would seem that I need to leave early.", and without waiting for an answer I walked off in David's direction leaving a group of gawking students and one traumatized teacher.

>>>David POV
Currently I am pacing back and forth in my office looking and feeling increasingly more angry as the seconds tick by. Sitting on a chair at the side is the instigator of my anger, the thorn in my side. So to speak.
I stopped pacing and faced Zach and peered directly at him.
"Do you know why I'm so angry?",
"No.",
"No!? Does the name Physical Enhancement ring a bell?",
"Maybe.",
"I can't believe you Zach. First you come here late, then you beat the top score on the proficiency test by way too much and then you almost blow a kids head off!",
"No I didn't! I stopped my fist just before it hit his face.",
"No excuses! How can you activate Physical Enhancement! It is military grade for a reason, civilians shouldn't even know the start up sequence let alone have the array installed on one of there magic devices! Tell me honestly, Zach, how did you get your hands on it.",
There was silence in the room as the boy pondered over my little rant, although I seem angry most of my anger has already faded after shouting at him for a while. I'm just glad that I didn't have a lawsuit on my hands from a couple of livid parents.
Ah it looks like he's going to tell me, I really want to know how a civilian got hold of that array.
"... Richard Improm?", The boy said but I was too eager to pick up on the hint of questioning in his voice.
"I knew it would be him!",
I'll be having a long talking to with him over the phone later, just you see if I don't!
"Okay Zach. Wait outside until the lesson is over, then you can go home.",
"Can't I just go early?",
"No! You can think about what you've done wrong!",
Zach left the room without question after that and nearly waited until the end of the day by doodling on a scrap of paper he found.

End of the day
---
*Riii~iing*
The bell signalling the end of classes for one day went off and as soon as its annoying noise had travelled to my ears immediately sprinted towards the gate.
Upon arriving at the gate I skid to a stop, momentarily stunned by the sight I saw in front of me. My bike... It's still there!?
Wow, you'd expect that a top quality road bike like this would have been stolen by now. But no, it's still there. Waiting where I left it in my original encounter with Miss Crow. Man this day has been long!
Anyway I get on the bike and cycle back of towards the cycle shop.
Increase in chapter length from tomorrow, exciting isn't it!?

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
