《Aliad - Tale of Zed [Dropped]》Chapter 14 - Induction

Hey guys! Hope you enjoy this chapter!
-----------------------
I woke up early the next day. I sat up and saw that my body returned to normal from last night’s injection of mana. I felt lighter and stronger but I was still very sore.
I slowly injected a small amount of mana into my body and it felt like my body could stay in this strengthened condition longer. The exercise from last night forcefully made my body get used to having mana injected and stored within them.
My muscles aren’t able to generate mana but with this exercise, they can store mana for later use as well as strengthen them. I then had a thought, What if I injected holy magic instead?
I asked Malakir this and he just said, “Your body is not old enough yet, if you do that your growth will be stunted as the magic is permanent. Using mana first will allow your body to develop in the best way because the changes will only be temporary. That being said, I think we overdid it last night. Does your body feel any pain at all?”
“No, I just feel a little bit sore.”
I changed clothes and asked Malakir about a little experiment that I had just thought of.
“Malakir, would it be alright if I tried to convert all of my mana into the different types and see how fast I can convert into all of them?”
“Why would you want that?”
“I think if I got used to shifting my mana, I would be able to confuse my opponents and surprise them with something they weren’t expecting.”
“Go ahead but start with a small orb. If you can change your mana to all of them within five seconds, do it with two orbs. If you can do that within another five seconds, increase the number of orbs by one. Then just keep repeating that every morning until you can get to 500 orbs.”
I stared at him and he said, “You had the idea, I’m just going to tell you how to do it. Now get started.”
I sat down and produced a small mana orb in front of me. I then transformed it slowly into a fire orb, then water, then wind, then earth. Just for the primordial mana it took me one minute to go through all of it. I then transformed it into light, dark, arcane and nature. Two minutes it took to go through the spectrum mana. I did the same with the supreme and it took me four minutes. Eight minutes it took me for the ancient.
I takes twice as much time every time I try have it become more pure, but if I have it be less pure it seems to be very short.
My mana is inherently Ethereal, being the second purest form of mana. Having it go back to it took sixteen minutes from the ancient mana.
In total it took me close to a half hour to go through all of the affinities’ mana types. I didn’t bother with Time and Space as I first needed to be able to use my magic that I can use proficiently in combat.
I went through all of the affinities again, this time going as fast as I could without letting things get out of hand. This time it took me twenty minutes. A full eleven minutes was shaved off but it was still too far from the five seconds that Malakir told me to get it down to.
This is going to be tough, I thought.

Alex knocked on my door and said that breakfast was going to start soon.
We went to the cafeteria and ate quickly at our floor and headed to our first class of the day.
I didn’t bother listening to the lectures that morning as I was too busy focusing my attention to the small orb that I had hidden underneath the desk. I was continuing what I was doing that morning in class and before lunch started I was able to shave off five more minutes.
Sasha met us at our table and we started talking about what each of us did on the first day. We told her what we had to do and she was worried at me doing a lot of exercises considering my body. I told her that I was fine and she reluctantly let it go.
She then told us of her first day in class. Apparently she became very popular with the girls as they all found out that she was engaged to me, the prince. She was happy with the attention but also a bit frightened as people she didn’t know surrounded her immediately.
She was always shy but once you got her to stop being shy she would open up to you.
Our conversation was interrupted by Sieg when he came and said, “Prince Zed, Principal Artemia wishes to see you.”
I nodded and told Alex and Sasha that I had to go somewhere but they said that they would also come with me. I let them come with me and we were now in Artemia’s room.
“Ah I see you brought your friends,” said Artemia as she saw us, “Sieg, inform their teachers about this.”
“Yes, Principal,” said Sieg as he left the room.
“Now,” said Artemia, “Zed, the paperwork for the Ravenex Corps has been approved and you can start recruiting whenever you want.”
“I would like Alex and Sasha as two of my lieutenants,” I said and they nodded. I had already told them about the Ravenex Corps and what it was about.
“Alright, that can be arranged,” said Artemia, “Come with me and I’ll take you to your office.”
She stood up and led us to a hidden alcove at the top floor of her room. Inside the alcove was a pillar of light and she said, “Step in the light and it will take you there immediately.”
She stepped in and she disappeared. We followed suit and we found ourselves in a room that overlooked the central arena of the Dome.
The room looked as if it was suspended in the air and was large enough to accommodate at least 100 people. There was a rectangular table in the middle of the room that could seat 15 people.
“It may look like we are floating in the air but we are not,” said Artemia, “It is merely an illusion, a way of looking at everything that is happening at the school. You can control where it looks with these controls.”
Artemia was pointing to the end of the table and on it was something similar to the podiums that I keep on seeing. I pressed on it and Artemia said, “Just think of where you want to look.”
I did as she asked and we got a look at my summoning class.
We could hear them panting from exhaustion as well as their complaints.
“This device also allows the transmission of sound,” commented Artemia.
Alex and Sasha were dumbfounded at this room while I fiddled around to the extent of its power.

“Take these,” said Artemia as she handed us bracers with a Ravenex on it.
“This will allow everyone to know that you are a part of the Ravenex Corps as well as allow you to enter this room,” she explained, “When you wish to enter, just touch the Ravenex and you will instantly be teleported into this room. It is the same when you wish to leave the room but you will be teleported to the place where you had entered from.”
I nodded at her explanation and asked about who we can recruit.
“You can recruit anyone that you wish but to make it easier, the faculty and I have gathered a list of people and they can be told to meet you in the central Arena of the Dome if you wish right now.”
I told her to do that and she left to tell the faculty and students while Alex, Sasha and I waited for them in the Dome.
An hour passed and there were at least 500 candidates.
How are we going to choose 62 members out of these? I thought.
I discussed it with Alex and Sasha and we decided on a tournament. We had them compete in front of us and whoever defeated his opponent or impressed us would be a member.
It was in two hours that we finally got the members. There were many people that were qualified but we were looking for those who can do the job.
Two of them were exceptional and they became my lieutenants.
One was named Rita and she had red hair, blue and green eyes, and fair skin. She was twelve, much older than the three of us but we didn’t care. She was a Sage ranked Spirit mage. She was able to get spirits of the primordial and spectrum elements to help her. Most Spirit mages can only have spirits of one affinity help them but she was actually able to get two.
The other was named Jacob and he had light brown hair, blue eyes and fair skin. He was eighteen, the oldest of us all and he was a Lord ranked Form mage. He was capable of creating armaments that increased his physical abilities by a much larger amount than others. He demonstrated this by using the most base of metals, stone, and the enchantments on them were equal to enchantments on silver.
Malakir explained to the three of us when we were puzzled by this that depending on the quality of the material made with Form magic, the enchantments placed on it can either be strengthened or weakened. Stone is the most neutral as it neither strengthens or weakens any enchantment on it. Silver increases enchantments of defenses but weakens any offensive enchantment. Seeing Jacob’s enchanted stone defeat his opponent’s enchanted silver was one of the reasons why he was chosen.
I stood in front of the lieutenants, sergeants and enforcers. These were all the ones chosen by us to be a part of the Ravenex Corps.
“Today marks your induction to the Ravenex Corps,” I shouted. My voice was echoing to the near empty arena.
“I am Zed Rigel, 3rd Prince of the Rigel Kingdom and Captain of the Ravenex Corps. Our mission is to prevent any misconduct amongst the students and intervene when matters get out of hand.”
“You have all been divided into the positions of lieutenants, sergeants and enforcers. The four at the very front of you are Alex Rammert, Sasha Imadul, Jacob and Rita. These four are your lieutenants and answer directly under myself.”
“Behind them are the ten sergeants. These ten answer directly under the lieutenants. The rest of you are enforcers, you answer directly to the sergeant in front of you. Ten enforcers to a sergeant.”
“Sergeants are responsible for the conduct that your enforcers do. Likewise the lieutenants are responsible for the conduct of the sergeants. You may advance in rank if you show that you are more competent than your sergeant or lieutenant. My position can only be replaced by my own choosing. Are there any questions?”
No one seemed willing to ask any and so I proceeded to give them all their Ravenex bracer.
After giving one of each to everyone I said, “This bracer symbolizes your being a part of the Ravenex Corps. Touch the Ravenex to go to our office.”
We all did and everyone was teleported into our office.
“You may enter and leave whenever you wish using the same way you entered. Be warned, this room is to be used only for meetings or under strenuous circumstances. This room will heal you and replenish your mana but do not use it casually.”
I knew about this as Artemia told me about it when she returned with the 500 candidates. Everyone was in awe of the room, even Alex and Sasha as I was the only one to know.
“This room will be accessible to all the students from the faculty building. As such I need at least one of the sergeants or lieutenants to always be in this room. Enforcers, you may leave now and patrol around the school. Sergeants discuss amongst yourselves where your Enforcers will be patrolling.”
They went to the back of the room to discuss patrolling routes while I showed the lieutenants how to use the device. The view around us kept on constantly changing and everyone couldn’t help but be distracted now and then.
Soon enough the Enforcers left leaving me with the Sergeants and Lieutenants. I showed the Sergeants how to use the device when the Jacob and Rita went out wanting to patrol too. Sasha and Alex stayed since I was still there.
After showing how to use the device the Sergeants left leaving one of them behind to watch the room.
I apologized to him about the plainness of the room but I assured him that it will be decorated with useful items once it was arranged. There were many different items that we would be able to use but it was a matter of being able to store it in the room that was the problem. The logistics of the matter was the issue rather than the matter of the items.
We left him there and went to eat dinner at my mansion. Sasha stayed with us until after dinner and I took her to her dormitory room as Alex pushed me to do.
Her dormitory was a lavish four story building. We said our goodbyes there because her dormitory restricted males from entering.
I walked back and saw some of my Enforcers patrolling. Some students were also pointing at them while some were wondering about the bracers.
I got back to the mansion and didn’t see Alex anywhere. I got to my room and teleported to the office room. Apparently it was Alex’s turn as he was here.
He got up from his seat and teleported out leaving me with myself. Using the opportunity, I started Malakir’s exercises and it felt much easier since my mana as well as my stamina was being replenished.
I wasn’t able to do it for long as Rita teleported in. We didn’t have a set amount of time for one person to watch the room but there didn’t seem to be any problems yet.
I teleported back to my room and continued the exercises. It was harder than when in the office but easier than before.
Midnight came and I was tired and I slept waiting the next day.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.
