《Odyssey》The November Update!

Hello everyone! Digital Riot here, and I have come with a very exciting announcement! I'm proud to announce the November Update! Essentially, it is a major overhaul of a lot of things for Odyssey!
First and most noticeably of all: Everything looks different! I finally got my own cover art and banner (Created by me :D and with a few second opinions from KoiYujo!) I personally love the art far more than the previous one - which was meant to be a placeholder anyway. This art really represents the vibe that I wanted to take the story in more or less, displaying the modern and fantasy worlds side-by-side. So that's that out of the way!
Second: Chapters 1-4 (The Opening, Red Letter Day, Fargo The Great, and Point insertion), are being almost completely rewritten and combined into two new chapters named; Talking Heads Want To Rule The World, and, Red Letter Day.
The reason for this is simply because my state of mind going into writing this story is almost entirely different from now. What I mean by that is simple, this story origi ally started out on Fanfiction.net as a Gate Fanfic. When I uploaded to Royal Road, I thought that I was just going to copy past everything and leave it at that, only improving and tweaking some things here and there slightly. As such, the introductory sections for my story are almost completely the same. But the issue is that Odyssey has grown much more than that, and has grown in a completely different direction. As such, I needed to rewrite the opening as the vibe of the first four chapters does not match the later chapters at all.
Not only that, but this also to improve your reading experience. The original four chapters (Especially Chapter 3 as pointed out by the wonderful horizon108) is filled with long winded info-dumps and ridiculous dialogue that makes the story arguably worse. This is a symptom of me still being in the mindset of writing fanfiction, and I have plans to tweak a lot more chapters that suffer from that. All in all, improvements are finally here!

(The original chapters are still being kept as a comparison point, you are free to reread them if you wish and compare the two).
Third: Chapter 35 Kafkaesque is coming on Friday at exactly 12 o'clock PM EST, and what that means is that we are going to start exploring a lot more of the emotional side of all our characters. As you can already tell, there is a lot of drama going on right now, especially within Unity. Hezekiah has gotten himself in some deep shit, and his problems are only gonna get worst. The same is true for a lot of other characters. I intend to exploit the dynamics of Hezekiah and his squad, explore Cathy's character further, and tie Yuri more firmly into the setting. In the rewritten introductions, Wendover, Perceval, Newman and Sherman have been expanded as a characters too! Of I do this right, we'll get some really great chapters in the future with these guys.
Fourth: I've fixed a few more grammar issues Devil Dogs, which had quite a surprising amount. I'm not sure if I caught them all. But we'll see.
Fifth: changed some tags around, nothing major.
Alright, that's all for now. If you could, consider dropping a favorite or a review, they really do help a ton! And if you have a question, concern, or just wanna chat, feel free to leave a comment as well!
Until next time, :D.

Dominion Expansion (a 4X LitRPG)
Clay is one of the world's top players of 4X games, a genre where the goal is to eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. He's also one of the only players in the world to so stubbornly stick to the one city strategy, a favorite tactic of his that involves only ever using a single city or planet depending on the game's setting. All that matters to him is winning with his favorite strategy, but earning the respect of his fellow players for taking a sub-optimal strategy to its highest level has always been a nice bonus. And now it is because of his skill and entertaining determination that he has been chosen to represent a higher realm in a strategy game where the fate of Earth and dozens of other worlds are at stake. To the victor goes the spoils, and the spoils include entire worlds and billions of lives. That's how he ends up representing the ascended realm of Hell in a grand "game" between an entire pantheon of godly beings and other higher powers. But while it may just be a game to those overseeing it, it is a genuine war for survival to those participating in it where billions of real lives will go to the victor of whoever wins, and many will die before the game is over. Quick Author's Notes: System inspired by Civilization, Endless Legend, Stellaris, and Crusader Kings 2. Combat mechanics inspired by the Total War series. Slow-paced with many long-term plans. Protagonist has a personality heavily inspired by Ron Swanson. Know who that is and love him? You should like Clay. Know who Ron Swanson is and hate him? You'll probably hate Clay. Planning on writing every single day (turn). Days with important things happening will have the system/game mechanics be the priority of the chapter. Days where there isn't really anything important happening will be more slice-of-life and focused on character interactions. Designed a dice-based randomized map generator to create the world as the story goes on, so I don't even know myself exactly what's going to happen as a lot is dependent on world generation. Tech tree with hundreds of technologies already designed. There is a "harem," but it's not the main focus, the girls won't be cardboard cutouts, and I'm not going to completely forget about any previous women in the relationship whenever a new one comes along. One last thing. The "game" starts off with primitive technology level. The current plan is for the "endgame" tech level to be equivilent to WW2-era technology. After that and war just gets boring until you end up in space. Cover is temporary and made from royalty-free stock images while waiting for the real cover's commission to finish.

The Big Yoink: A Smol Detective Story
This is another fanfic set in the universe of They Are Smol, a delightful series of stories which you should totally go read right now if you haven’t. It’s a sequel to my own The Smol Detective. In this story, Oscar Williams and his adopted alien family have to determine the guilt or innocence of another human and her two alien friends. The trio stands accused of stealing a sacred relic, and if it isn’t found soon an ancient religious cold war could turn very hot indeed… Formal Disclaimer Type Thing: I do not take credit for the original setting, this story is set in an alternate version of the 'They are Smol' universe, written by the one, the only u/tinyprancinghorse. TPH takes many forms and is known by many names. He is like Nyarlathotep, only smaller and cuter and more prancey. TPH also has a Website should you require more Smol Shenanigans in your life. Which you do, so get over there and read it. The cover art for this sequel again comes courtesy of the mighty Akella, and they deserve lots of headpats from giant aliens because they are awesome.

Unknown Fate's End
The ancient's believed that a man's fate or destiny is written already, and that only God or maybe the Gods could change it. If they did change it, it was believed it was for a purpose unknown to that man or for maybe for the ammusement of those higher beings. However, whether that is true or not, one thing is for certain. Changing a man's fate will create a ripple of changes. Join our hero, who whether by luck, by some divine intervention, or by his own choice, separated from the fate that he shared with his fellow earthlings. Watch him struggle in his new world. Watch him grow. Watch him learn. Watch him walk a path oustside what destiny has for him. FYI: The magic concept in this story is high fantasy with involvement of polytheistic religions and demons. There will be a mix of GameLit style writing mixed with traditional magic novel style writing. The plot developement will be slow in the first volume, as I will focus on world building and character building. The main character will not be OP immediately and will develop into one in his own way over time. This series is built less like modern Japanese, Korean, and Chinese webnovels and more like the old school fanstasy novels like DND and Forgotten Realms.
