《The Egotistical Ruler [DROPPED]》Chapter 1 remastered: Village of Sicheren Untergang

From now on the MC will be referred to as his in-game name, Emperor.
Emperor spawned in the square of a medieval-ish square in front of a fountain covered in cracks. The surrounding buildings all looked very old and in a state of disrepair. Looking around he noticed that he was the only beginner spawning here and there were only NPCs in sight.
He thought "This place must have been discovered and unlocked to beginners just recently, there's plenty of soldiers everywhere so earning their favour is the first step to taking over. But I should level up a few times first and upgrade my strength and charisma first to make it easier."
He filled his water canteen at the fountain because of his preknowledge, thanks to surfing a few forums beforehand. Then set off for the North gate. Upon reaching the gate the guards there blocked him.
-Stop outsider, by orders of the king all of Gerussia, champions must stay in the place they started for a month because of the danger of dying.
Emperor thought 'So that's what NPCs refer to players as, but all I see outside is a few chickens wandering about.'
-Why? Those are just chickens, nothing dangerous and they're domesticated animals.
The guard on the right said "My name is Tim and I swear upon my name, those are no ordinary chickens. Sure most chickens are domesticated and there's a few inside the village but those are wild ones that escaped in the past and became feral. They'll attack anything that approaches them and will gang up on you if you attack them. Someone as weak as you would die without even taking out one."
'Sounds like wild dogs combined with Legend of Zelda chickens, I guess even beginner mobs are hard. Though I should fight them to get used to VR and run if I have too'
"I'm going anyways, I can handle myself."
The guard on the left said "Doesn't matter, orders are orders"
Emperor thought to himself 'That ruins my plans, what shall I do now?'
-Hrmm but that poses a problem as you may guess by my looks I'm a perfect candidate as lord over this village. How am I supposed to prove my skills.
The guard on the left said "What?"
Skill acquired through special action, Eloquent Speech. Elegant stat created.
Tim suppressing a laugh said "Oh I'm sorry for not realising before my lord. If you clear out one of the waves of monsters that invade the village every week before it even reaches the village people will become aware of your greatness and proper position"
Quest: Repel the wave
Difficulty: D
Time Limit:None
In the village of Sicheren Untergang, monsters attack every week. This puts the village in a state of constant disrepair. Tim the guard wants you to prove your worth by destroying one of these waves before it reaches the village. Proving your worth will force him to recognize you as your lord despite him not being serious.

Rewards: Fame, a title, and unknown
Failure: Tim dies or the village is destroyed
Effects of Failure: Nothing since you're not being taken seriously
'Not being taken seriously?! That's insulting but lol he'll have to eat his words soon. But did that skill do this?'
-Open skill info on eloquent speaking
Skill: Eloquent Speaking
Rarity: Uncommon
Level:1
Your absurd way of speaking makes people want to go along with what you say. They do this for their own amusement or just to make you go away. Creates unique options and quests with characters.Success rate based on elegant stat and skill level. Higher skill can lead to even stranger quests and situations. Don Quixote would be proud.
'The skill window feels slightly insulting somehow but the skill seems really useful. But just uncommon? I guess that's okay since I'm a beginner but I need some rare skills soon to get ahead.'
-Open stat info elegant
Stat: Elegant
Current stat points: 11
Rarity: Rare
Elegance is required for those with noble blood whether inherited or trained. The higher the points the more likely that those below you will listen to you while those equal and above you will respect you. Makes your avatar look more noble. Side effect: Those oppressed or less fortunate may treat you with contempt.
'Now that's what I'm talking about. Oh Ted is staring at me, guess I should accept the quest.'
-Nice, I can do that as soon as soon as I can leave in 1 month. But where can I train to take out the wave until then?
Quest Accepted
Tim says in response "You're the lord, just go away and get lost. You should get to know the layout here anyways."
-okay then I'm off
Emperor thought to himself 'Dick, I guess I'll ask around town.'
Our MC walks through town and noticed that all the NPCs were depressed and covered in filth. he thinks 'There's a fountain in the main square, I understand the depressed looks but the filth is unnecessary.' While thinking this he bumps into an especially filthy man who's unusually happy.
-The name 'ere is Schmied, What's 'ours?
Emperor responds in a slightly confused tone "My name is Emperor and I plan on ruling this village soon"
skill use successful
A loud laugh bellows from Schmied, causing his entire fat belly to ripple as though a xenomorph was trying to burst out of his chest but couldn't.
-Well if we're both stating goals then I plan to be in the ole' pub within the next five minutes. You look like your trying to look for something?
-Yes I wish to train so I can destroy the monsters that come every week
Schmied replies "there's the place where the kiddos train, you look a bit weaker than dem, it's over dat way" pointing at a conspicuous building that looks like it's had a dozen other uses.

'He's so friendly yet how can he blatantly insult me so cheerfully. I should thank him anyways.'
Emperor after looking at it for a few seconds turned to thank Schmied but he was already ambling off presumably towards the local pub.
After entering the building he saw a bunch of training dummies made of poles hammered in ground, half of which were broken or in a state of repair. There was a small group of people training inside but rather than other players they were NPC children. Emperor then realised these were the only children he's seen in the village so far, even a girl was training and all of them were filthy. He thought 'The poor little urchins, is that dirt some sort of fashion statement?'
He didn't see any sort of instructor so he went over to the kids and said "Hey scrubs, what do we do here?"
One of the kids with an oversized hat replied "You pick up a stick and hit the dummy, What else could we do?"
-Can't you practice some sort of fighting style on the dummies
Another kid that was using a rusty shovel instead of a stick said "What are a fighting style?"
-A fighting style is*(extra emphasis to correct the kid) a way of using the sword so it's more effective like certain slashes and stabs in conjunction to not give the enemy any time to attack.
The kid with an oversized hat said eagerly "Can you teach us the fighting style"
-No I cannot because I don't know any involving swords, isn't there someone that comes here to instruct you?"
The only girl in the group of three children said "Not really, but Ted comes here once in awhile. He's the guard at the Northern gate but he has long shifts so he doesn't come often"
Emperor thought to himself 'So that's the name of that other guard, but really no wonder this place is in ruins. Everyone is depressed and the younger generation isn't being taught properly. If only I had a way of training them yet in a way that benefits me.'
Gaining an epic idea Emperor ran off promptly, leaving the training hall, Emperor took Tim's advice to heart and started running in a random direction. After a short while he asked a local where the smithy was and he pointed in the direction he just ran from and gave some detailed directions.
"Over that way about 7 blocks, then turn left 4 times. Finally turn right and walk forward until you see a yard full of scrap metal and trash"
'Oh so it's near a scrapyard, sounds easy to find'
Emperor backtracked and headed to the Smithy and halfway there he bumped into a familiar face.
Schmied said "woah dere no need for such a rush, where you headed?"
Emperor instead of answering responded with another question "I thought you were going to the pub, why are you here?"
Schmied said a little angry "The pub was all out of booze I'm heading home, I grew a few potatoes awhile back and in my basement I-"
Emperor interrupted Schmied and said "Nevermind about that, I'm going to the Smithy."
"Well I'll be, you're in luck I'm headed there meself, 'ollow me." Schmied said then waddled off in a completely direction than he was given directions to.
'Hrmm maybe I took a wrong turn somewhere.'
Emperor obediently followed Schmied to what looked like a dilapidated junkyard with a single shack. There was mounds of scrap metal scattered about and rats freely moved about without fear of humans. They entered the shack which was just an especially large mound of scrap metal and a improvised chimney made of dried mud. Inside it wasn't much better with rusty tools and mugs scattered about with a bed that looked more like a Japanese futon with torn sheets in the corner.
Schmied then said "So what can I do for yer lordship" and then bellowed another laugh at his little joke.
Emperor thought 'Schmied was the smith?! I guess it makes sense when you think about it. He did say he was going home then said seemingly contradictory that he was going to the Smithy. Also he has a "Smith" feel to him with his large size and filthy body. But then again everyone is filthy here.'
-I want a set of metal armour, use your cheapest material and just make it thick. I'm going to do moving target practice with the kids at the training hall.
Schmied looked him over then said "Ye don't look like you can take that kind of weight, and how're ya gunna pay for it?"
-After I become lord of this town I shall make your shop into a proper place for a blacksmith of your skill, and I don't need to take the weight I plan on strength training at the same time.
Schmied got angry and said "I built this place with me own 2 hands and ye expect me to just accept yer offer just because it'll be better?"
"Yes" Emperor said in a hopeful way
End of chapter 1 REMASTERED, Combination of the original chapters 1-3. Took several hours but I fixed some mistakes, added a few new things, but of course it still needs to end in a cliffhanger. Expect more action later on, either late in chapter 2 remastered or chapter 3 remastered. Write your responses below. This is semi-reader interactive, if you want something I'll do it or completely ignore you.
