《My Travels Through Another World: A Dragon's Tail》Side story. The Diary of a Maid Part 2

Day XX Month XXX
So much happened lately I’ve forgotten to write in my Diary lately. The dragon that Lila is keeping as a pet… can in fact change into the form of a human. Not only that… it’s a he… and understands our language!
All the things I said… he understood… ALL of it. I couldn’t face him properly for a while and tried to reconcile with him. When he doesn’t look all scaley he’s actually pretty handsome... Also he cares for the Young Miss, always keeping her safe from harm.
Now though, I suspect everything that has been happening lately… has been his handiwork. The frequency has somewhat dropped lately. Although my food still doesn’t have any meat on it… Not that I mind anymore, I’ve grown accustomed to not eating meat lately.
Day XXX Month XXXX
I wonder… how would it feel if Kuro would look at me like he does Lila. His eyes when he looks at me are always so cold, yet his gaze is so warm when he watches Lila. Strangely my eyes have been following him lately, I’m not sure why.
There’s been something that has been bugging me though… Some days even though he’s with Lila and looks like he’s having fun keeping her company. His eyes seem so… sad… Why does he make that kind of face?
Day X Month XXXXX
Finally… I think I understand… I think I’m in love with Kurogane… I’m not sure when it happened, but I keep thinking about him. I want to make him happy enough that he’ll never make that sad face again. I’m not sure why… But I want him to be happy enough that he doesn’t have to carry the weight all by himself.
Hopefully one day… one day he’ll tell us about it. The reason for his hidden sadness… before it engulfs him…

Day XX Month X
He’s going home to visit he said… he’ll be gone for a whole year! What do I do? Should I confess?
No, no! That’s too embarrassing! After thinking for a while I decide I’ll write him a letter and pack it in a basket of sandwiches for him when he leaves. That way I have a year to prepare myself and receive his reply…
Day XXX Month X
Today we saw off Master and the Young Lady… Kuro sent them off with a smile. But I could tell, the look in his eyes were so empty… As if he had lost a part of him. I was in such a hurry to say something, anything to make him feel better. But he denied that anything was wrong… he just smiled and went into town. All I could do was watch him as his figure slowly disappeared into the crowd.
Day XX Month X
Each morning I wake up Kuro… he always seems to have this pained look on his face… He must be having nightmares. I don’t recall that ever happening before, he would always sleep peacefully? What changed… is he not used to sleeping alone? I should ask him about this, it’s really bothering me. Maybe… just maybe he’ll rely on me, even a little bit… Let me help him with whatever is tormenting him every night.
Day X Month X
...Where are you Kurogane… Everyone’s waiting for you to come home… Please… come home already…

Dungeon Core? Nah, I Think I'll Just Get Super-Wealthy Instead
The cycle is simple enough. A Dungeon Core is born from a wayward soul. It seeks power and agency, and works to accumulate wealth to fuel its power, in turn using this power to accumulate further wealth. Inevitably, the mind is lost as desperation and ambition drive it to commit darker and darker acts. Shortly thereafter, the adventurers arrive to quell the core. This is a tale that has repeated itself countless times throughout history: all cores desire power. And yet, this core seems to have it backwards. It doesn't want to rule the world. It has no desire to enslave or conquer. No, this core doesn't want to be a warlord, a villain, or a tyrant. It wants to start a core-poration. After all, when money is power, what greater weapon is there than capitalism? Join a dungeon core that wastes an absurd amount of time and effort trying not to be evil on his journey to earn fat stacks against all odds. -This is a 'Dungeon Core' type fiction with LitRPG elements in it. The start may be fairly slow compared to the average. Expect roughly 2.5k per chapter. -I'm only a hobbyist writer. As such, there may be the occasional error and pacing may be poorly-handled. Constructive criticism is alway welcome. I'm just here to write stuff that makes my brain release the g o o d c h e m i c a l s. -I am trashy and I like monsterpeople so you can expect an awful lot of those as we get further in. Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy.

Windwalker
Having subdued its surrounding enemies, the former Sulic Empire is faced with unrest brewing from within. Society is torn in two. The reigning mentalists constantly persecute the subjugated elementals under the pretence of curbing the explosive potential of their destructive powers. Meanwhile, schemes and political interests clash as different groups within the Governance military elite vie for control. And in the shadows, Sulic’s old enemies have been lying in wait a long time, looking for the first sign of weakness to make their move. Against this backdrop, two ordinary individuals fight to maintain stability from opposing sides: a low ranking telepathic recruit with nothing to his name but good intentions, and an unregistered elemental contractor with a murky past. Can they reconcile their differences and help steer Sulic away from tearing itself apart? Windwalker explores themes of societal struggle and self-discovery. Book One: Rising Wind Kal has trained to be a soldier his entire life. His days are simple, and his duties clear: enforce the rules, upkeep the peace, and most important — police the elementals. If they step out of line, the Governance system corrects it. But when Kal encounters a young boy whom he suspects might be an illegal earthborn, he can’t bring himself to report him. Despite his training and the advice of friends, he decides to help him onto what he believes is the right path. This choice lands him in more trouble than he bargained for, and he soon discovers that the veneer the Governance is built upon an ugly and crumbling foundation.
