《Rivalry I Live for》Chapter 7. Normal Days Passes

As I strongly inhaled through my nose, I tasted the stench of my body fully drowned in sweat… Breathing out with my mouth, the fog created by the warm vapor condensing could be seen and felt. A strong cold wind blew past me… I sneezed…

“...”
WHAT?! But! It was the sweat goddamit! And, and! Shouldn’t I be protected from the cold if my body is in heat of sweating?!
Sigh… It’s no use complaining... At least it was a 5% only… Lets take a break…
I spun the rope around my shoulder and rested the axe on it also. Of course, not the holly wood style from left side of the abdomen to my right side of my shoulder. I wouldn’t be able to unsheathe my weapon fast enough for combat like that. So I spun it around my right shoulder only.
Looking around as I relaxed my back against the wall of the barn, I checked my weapon throw skill.

Heh… Because I used my beloved two handed steel axe. The skill leveled up faster than expected.
“Oi!” Someone screamed from the path to the cobblestone road from the right side of me.
Ah, they are here… Finally
“Oi!” I waved back as a group of men pulled our old wagon through the thin snow.
Damn, good one Douglas… But it seems like you made them pull it with their hands…
…
“Hi, I am Tony” I said to the 5 strong built men at front of me.
“Oh, you! Stronk! Like us!” He said pointing back and forth while the other flexed…
“...”
LOL! Better act like them…
“Yes.. You guys… Stronk! Like me! BUT! Weaker!... Stronk together!... Weak alone!!”
He turned around, steam rose from his bald head and pointed to a stump nearby.
“I challenge you! Arm wrestling!”

“GRRRRR”
Ehehe.. “...”
Gazing upon the struggling nordic at front of me, he trembled with sweat on his bright red palm and face burning. As he did, the snow surrounded us started to melt into a pool of water...
… My character really is unbalanced...
“Thud…”

KEKEKEKEKE… Ahem… Still 100 xp… 5 more for level 2…. Anyways, gotta cheer up the guy at front of me.
“Be proud brotha! You nearly stronk like me!” I said and stretched my hand out towards the man on the snowy ground.
“Boss!” He smiled with the others and took my hand.
“What are you guys doing?” Douglas who stood near the scene asked us…
“Uh, greeting each other”
“Hah, well… Lets get to work then, shall we “, He smiled.
Heh… “About time!”
....
“Chop!”...
“Chop!”...
“Crackle” “thud” “Rustle”.
Phew… As I worked hard as a saw, the others helped Douglas with the lumber mill and the transport. Yesterday we chopped around 35 Trees that filled the mill completely… Sadly, we could only transport around a quarter of the amount in the mill… Hence the real problem we are facing is the transporting back and forth. But today! It changes. With new workers and 2 wagons. Our speed should increase by a ton.
…
“Zaaaaaa” The stream nearby the mill slowly flowed with the fishes toward the bottom of the mountains.
While the others turned the wood into planks and all sort of useful materials, I sat here chilling, as the fishes jumped upwards toward the mountain in the stream.
“Splash”
“Ta… ta… ta…”
The stone I threw bounced far… I smiled…
“Plop”
Aha! Finally I caught something!
Struggling as I reeled in the heavily retaliating unknown fish that only swimmed one way down the stream. The cold water made a shiver run through my spine as I walked into the knee height stream to catch the fish barehanded…
Certainly it would be easier to catch it with my hands if I have already caught it? In a way of course...
“Plop”....
“...”
“...” It glared at me...
Heavy Stone obtainedA lifeless heavy stone….
“...”
“DAAAAMN!” The birds of the forest scattered and never came back.

As I kept chopping the trees until the twilight, it seems that we have gotten around 163 Trees in one day. Brushing the warm sweat from my forehead with my forearm, I smiled happily with my co workers. In return so did they.
While I did, the herd of Oxes worked hard together with Douglas as they removed the stumps behind so that a new tree could be regrown…
Well, the town is probably happy right now with our good work… I can’t wait for the reward, hehe.
4 days later…
The eerie tone of the storm outside the barn, blew heavily as it made the windows flap open and close. Sometimes the wind blew so strong, forcing the door open and covered us in snow. Brrrr…. I shook my body, to remove the snow that stole my body heat. I shuddered.
Still, I sat there relaxing with the soft pelt of the Oxes… I think I am getting addicted to their fluffy pelt.
“Hah! If this keeps up we might be finished in 8 days more!” Douglas cheerfully said as he laid beside me.
Heh, “I guess... 537 in 4 days or rather 5 isn’t so bad”...
“Agreed” The 5 underlings said simultaneously.
7 days later from that day… (Day 11)
“Hey! Boss, you wanna head to the town?” Douglas shouted from a wagon in a distance.
“No! But why do you have to go?” I said as I sat next to a tree.
“I have report my progress to the major!”
“Right! Good luck”
“See ya!” He waved towards everyone who responded back and rode away.
Well, I should keep going… Just a few more trees...
“Chop”
“CRACK”

Looks like I am forced to go to the city afterall…
I turned around and ran. “DOUGLAS! WAIIIIT FOR ME!”
....
“Clank”, “Clank”, “Clank”....
Searching in the town with the help of the guards directions, I finally found the weaponsmiths store in a dark alley. Cough, cough, cough. The smoky coal made my tears flow as I moved through the cloud that made my skin burn, just to open the door.
“Ding, ding” A bell rang.
“Clank”, “Clank”, “Clank”....
As the smither worked, I could feel the heat in the room as I started to sweat.
“Hello?” I asked, while pushing away a curtain in the room next to the current.
“Clank”, “Clank”, “Clank”.... The woman hammered the sword at front of her with burning eyes.
Hmm… That’s some nice muscles and good proportions at that… Anyways, while I wait I’ll walk around and check the display weapons…
Walking around the store, I saw all kinds of arsenal from swords, battle axes, hammers, daggers… All sorts of weapon types, utensils and crafting tools.
But there was one that caught my eyes… A great sword, a weapon my rival used and slayed me in the forbidden forest…
This one though was made with a pitch black colour with a yellowish brass handle. Unlike the demonic blade probably dropped from a raid boss somewhere...

It's the beginning of a series I know I'm going to enjoy, with great writing and hints of deep in-game lore. The characters are fun, the plot is engaging, and I never know what is going to happen next. The action is fast, brutal and realistic. This is one of my favorite LitRPG stories in the entire genre.” - Blaise Corvin, author of Delvers LLC: Welcome to Ludus and Secret of the Old Ones “A great first foray into LitRPG. The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
