《Rivalry I Live for》Chapter 21. The Walking Sands

The dusty clouds that stings my eyes as I walk on the steamy orange sands, wet sweat that just runs down from my forehead as I try to avoid the blinding sun with the gauntlet that covered my vision. The burning heat that accumulates on the armor turned the jet black armor bright red, burning my fingers if I dare touch it.
“Master…. Why do you have shiny red eyes?” She asked, snuggling safely inside my scarf.
Heh, “Leaving the raid party with Nifelheim caused me to gain the corruption stats for attacking other players, well since we were over 150, the amount is no wonder”
“Oh…”
“Besides, I got what I wanted. I can’t enter talk to the guy if I don’t have red status… Might have been going a bit overboard though, hahaha”
“Why do we need to to this certain guy?” She asked tiling her head under my chin.
“Heh, information…” I said, walking with the heavy knees over the steep hill of sand.
“Ah, there it is, the home of the beginner PKs” I said as a hot breeze flew past me, causing the scarf to flap happily to the side… My pose is so cool…
Gliding down the slope of sand, I walked towards the gloomy town surrounded by blue sky and dusty clouds.
Hmm, why are there two players at the gates? Ah… I see…
Walking towards the gates of the town surrounded by wooden walls with sandstone houses sticking out, two players patted my shoulder.
“Oi, pay the 5 gold fee, or leave” The guy asked.
“Huh?”
“Ek! I am sorry, please pass” He shivered, bowing towards me.
Heh… Taking a few steps inside the gates, they started to chatter.
“Hey, why didn’t you take his gold?
“Shh, are you blind? He got freaking red eyes! The worst badass of the badasses! King of badass!”

“Oh shit, even our boss don’t have one, so cool!”
“He must be a high level, tell the boss to be wary!”
…
Pushing aside the head sized curtains that covered the inside with shadows from the burning sun, a old man sat inside on a cushion at front of a globe.
Taking a seat at front of the tiny table, I took out one gold, slided it over the table with one finger, waiting for the man to answer my call.
Amount of Money leftTotal: 23 Gold, 24 Silver, 71 Copper
Gazing upon the man that meditated, he opened his left eye, glanced on the table, took the gold and said “So… What do you need me for?”
“I need to know what the guild members of the once most notorious guild called Greed are up to”
“Hmmm… I heard that they are searching for someone called Beef Lover or another adventurer they know nothing about. Either way, they took residence at the far west, the continent beyond the seas of death where the Kraken lies”
“I see… Thank you” Ah, looks like they finally moved to the high level player continent after we bullied newbies.
“Anything else?” The old man asked.
“No, I’ll take my leave” I said, standing up with a bow and left the tiny shop.
“Oh, but be wary… knights… The king...” he mumbled.
“Huh?” did I hear something?
Heh, at least I won't need to avoid them since they know nothing about me. Now… Should I head to the tournament? Huh? What are you staring at?
“...”
I’ll just step away…. Hey?! “What?”
“Hello red eye, how about you follow us?” The man said, as players appeared from around the corner in the shadows of the houses.

“Eh, Why?”
“Our boss want to see you” He said, beckoning me to follow…
Eh… Should I or should I not? Meh, I still have a lot of time anyways…
“Make me?”
“No way, red eyes can only be obtained by players who tries to kill at least 150 by themselves, and if you are here, it means that you survived”
“Right, show the way!” I said, smiling. He shivered.
Walking past the lifeless fountain, we went to a corner of the town with nothing other than houses beside it.
As the man went closer to a pile of new dry sand… Totally not suspicious, he brushed the sand of with his feet and it revealed a trapdoor. Opening the door a ladder was shown to the depths of the shadows.
“In here?” I asked.
“Yeah, comon, our boss is waiting. You don’t want to make her wait...” He said, taking the first steps down.
Her? Heh, this might be worthwhile after all.
…
Jumping down the last step, I scattered the cold water around me. Are we in some kind of sewer system? It’s awfully clean to be one…
“Comon, this way” The man said as we walked in the shrouded system with a torch illuminating the surroundings.
“Over here!” The man said, clicking a button that opened a hidden stone door.
“Right”
Going inside, I noticed the smell of red wine as wooden barrels were stacked neatly around the room. There was also cases filled with bottles of wine, are we in the wine cellar? Pfft, what a easy way to steal wine…
“This way!” He said and opened a door that revealed a faint light from the gap after removing his torch.
“Coming”
As the wooden door opened, a large room was revealed as pillars held the ceilings and a decorated red carpet laid there on the cold and smooth stone floor towards a throne.
Although we didn’t open the front door but the side door…
“Is that him?” someone asked.
“Yes boss!” he said, as we walked towards the throne shrouded in darkness with faint light as it wasn’t enough to remove the darkness of the whole room.
Gazing towards those black boots that was the only thing that could be seen, I guessed that the boss was some kind of thief based class, that loves the shadows.
Other than that, she stood up as the man kneeled before her.
“Oh, this is the guy… Perfect, just what I need” The girl said, walking down the stairs of the throne, revealing more parts of her slender body but hid the good part.
“So, red eyed adventurer, want to help me on a grand quest?”
“Huh? What grand quest?”
“Infiltrating the king’s palace… At the Central Desert Dunes.”
