《ETERNAL FREEDOM》RECRUITMENT INTO THE ARMY
Advertisement
The power structure of the Giants is very easy to understand. The lowest are the small sized tribes, and have the word 'desolate' in their name. There are thousand such tribes in the entire Giant continent, and their strongest expert, usually the Chief, is an orange berserk i.e. a stage two berserk.
Above them are the medium sized tribes, and have the word 'barren' present in their names. These tribes total a hundred, and their strongest expert is a green berserk i.e. a stage 4 berserk.
Even above them are the large sized tribes, and only these tribes can attach the word 'barbarian' onto their tribe names. These tribes number only ten, and their strongest expert is an indigo berserk i.e. a stage 6 berserk.
And finally we have the King tribe at the topmost, and only this tribe is eligible to add the word 'king' to their name as well as rule over all giants. Any large sized tribe can obtain this honor, but old traditions dictate that this honor must fall to those who have the royal purple berserk i.e. the highest stage 7 berserk.

Barren Han Tribe, Giant Continent.
True to its name, the Barren Han tribe was truly a barren place, and vegetation was a scarcity. In fact this was the case in the entire Giant continent, and the places with lush vegetation were all occupied by the large sized tribes.
On the borders of the tribe, Old Han sat in his tent with his grand-daughter, Yi. Old Han sat on a crude bamboo chair as he instructed his grand-daughter who was meditation while sitting on the ground.
"Do not underestimate this exercise. Just as you lift stones to train your mind, this is to train your body. Do not be like those idiotic giants...."
Listening to her grand-father's rant Yi couldn't help with interrupt him. "I understand, grandpa !"
Her grandpa would force her to meditate everyday to increase her concentration and spirit. Although being a typical giant she didn't fully believe that it would help her, she still did it to make her grandpa happy.
Suddenly a shout was heard from outside the tent.
"Little Yi, get out right now !"
A man entered the tent. He was one of the lackeys who was behind Tong, the tribal chief a few days ago.

"Little Yi, the chief has ordered your presence. Come with me quickly." the man said in an arrogant manner as he stared at her developed breasts.
"Humph ! Tell him that I don't have time for his nonsense !" Yi replied immediately.
The man glared at her and said. "The tribe is at war with the neighboring Barren Gu and Barren Fu tribe. Aren't you a red berserker ? Now the tribe needs your help. Are you still going to resist ?"
Indeed, she could not give excuses if that was the case. Wars were something frequent in the entire continent as resources were scarce. Either that or there were young bloods who dreamed of being the next Giant King.
"What happened ? What is the reason for war ?" Old Han's voice came from behind Yi. The old man walked near the two and asked with his hands behind his back.
"Old man, why should I tell you ? Are you going to participate in the war ? Let me tell you old man, you would die in just one punch." the man taunted Old Han.
"My grand-daughter is going to participate in a dangerous war, so I must know why she would be fighting."
"Humph, fine ! Old man, your sure talk a lot. Listen up ! A lot of experts in the king tribe have mysteriously died, and it has lost the strength to stay on top. You know that we support the Barbarian Wu tribe, while our neighbors support the Barbarian Tun tribe."
Hearing this Old Han became silent and started thinking of something. The man knew that Old Han was a Sage, and when he saw him deeply thinking about something he snickered and spat one word. "Idiot."
Yi followed the man to the Chief's tent. The chief Tong's tent was large and absolutely not inferior to a proper room made of stones and bricks. There were lamps and furniture, and the most eye catching thing was the 'throne' of the chief, which was made of stone and was inlaid with expensive leather. There was a woman silently standing near the tent.
Tong sat on the chair, carrassing the tribe's totem in his hand. The totem occasionally gave a glow, and this glow came out from the eye sockets of a beast's skill which was at the top of the totem.

What an idiot, Yi thought as she looked at the totem in Tong's hand. The totem gained it's power from the beliefs of the people of the tribe. Its power increased when the tribal people prayed to it and performed rituals in front of it. What Tong was doing was just extracting power from it and never giving it the chance to recharge itself.
Tong looked at her and squinted his eyes. He slowly stood up and walked towards her, ignoring the fact that she did not greet him.
"Little Yi, you have grown up." Tong surprisingly was sincere today.
Yi was a little startled and replied after a few seconds. "Thank you."
Tong turned and faced towards his stone 'throne'. "Little Yi, perhaps after this war.... the Barren Han tribe might not exist."
Yi was stunned after hearing this. Why was this despicable so emotional today and babbling nonsense ?
"There are some vague clues that most of the large tribes are supporting the Barbarian Tun tribe.....*sigh* Do you still not want to marry me ?"
"I told you I have no intention to marry you." Yi fumed.
"As you wish. Yao, take her to the training grounds. She will be under your command and be the vice group leader."
"Yes, Chief !" the woman near the throne bowed and walked near Yi.
"Follow me." the woman named Yao said stiffly. Yi lived alone with her grand-father and did not interact much with the other tribal people. In their tribe, Old Han being a Sage wasn't much respected and Yi being a kid was not paid much attention either. In short, these two were almost living the life of outcasts. If not for Yi's beauty, perhaps the two would never have gotten attention from their Chief.
"My name is Yao, and you can call me Madam Yao or group leader Yao. Our tribe's army has four groups, and I am the group leader of the fourth group. Of course, the chief is the chief of the army as well. And you shall be my assistant, and the vice leader of our group. Any questions ?"
The woman quickly explained everything she was supposed to know.
"When are we going to fight ?" Yi asked.
"The date has been fixed. It will be seven days from now, near the eastern lake." Yao replied to her as they walked towards the training grounds.
The giants had a long tradition of fixing dates and location for wars. One of the parties would send a person to fix a time and place and then they would fight to the death. Although it seemed stupid, well.... the giants were indeed stupid.
The two women reached the training grounds where the soldiers trained themselves. There wasn't much differentiation between men and women, and they even sparred occasionally with each other. In a giants army, men and woman were not differentiated, they only cared about if you were strong enough.
The army had a simple structure: The Chief was at the top, followed by four group leaders and their vice leaders, and lastly the regular soldiers. Yes, that was really it.
"Listen up, group four ! This warrior Yi would be your new vice group leader from today !" Yao announced in a loud voice. Multiple heads turned towards her and mocking voices were heard.
"This little b*tch ? Is she strong ?"
"Bullsh*t ! I ain't not working under a soft p*ssy !"
"Little girl, you should instead marry me and stay at home instead."
Mocking and jeering words were heard; this was just to test the new person. A man walked forward and looked at her with burning eyes. He was large and even his forearm was thicker with than Yi's thigh.
"Madam Yao, I don't think this little girl has the strength to be our vice leader."
Madam Yao remained silent as if she could not see what was happening around her. Yi knew that she would have to subdue these people herself.
"Why don't we try and see whether I have the strength or not." Yi smiled and said.
The man grinned as well. "Sure, why not !"
The two walked to the center of the ground, and the giants surrounded them in a circle.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
