Chapter 17
When I wake up the first thing I see is the pale face of a certain lich hovering over mine. Not albino pale like ghosts, more like deathly pale. This makes sense as she is, technically, dead.
"Have you been there all night?" jack
"Yup" Lucy
"You don't get bored of watching me sleep?" jack
"Compared to a hundred years in the abyss, this is extremely fascinating." Lucy
"I guess that makes sense." jack
I look over to Johanna who is lying next to me. She looks more like she did at the beginning of last year, taller and less childish than before. Definitely less childish. Suddenly I hear a grown from her and she picks herself up and looks at Lucy, then at me, then back at Lucy.
"No fair, you got a head start on me" Johanna
"I thought sprits didn't sleep" jack
"All creatures sleep when they evolve" Johanna
Suddenly I hear a low moan coming from my other side. I look over at ghost and see that has a very interesting expression.
"Ah, masters give me more. I want you to torment me more" ghost
While ghost was sleep talking during her dream she cuts herself off with another moan. This one bigger than any of the previous ones. I feel a sticky wet spot on my leg where she’s curled around me after she’s done moaning.
"Good morning master" ghost
"Have any good dreams?" Johanna
"One or two" ghost
At that I smell something suspiciously similar to pancakes. The door opens and sally comes in.
"Breakfast will be done in half an hour, after that we're heading out so get ready." sally
She runs out just as fast as she ran in and I hear her say the same thing to a, till that moment, still sleeping selena down the hall.
"Well, I need to take a bath as I didn't do so last night" jack

I get up and grab the change of clothes that jacobe let me borrow, which, to my surprise, fit really well. As I walk to the bathroom, which is on the other side of the hall, I am followed by a mischievous wolf, sprite, and lich.
"Oh, didn't you three take a bath last night?" jack
As I tease them Johanna and Lucy blush, wait I thought undead couldn't blush, or even have a heartbeat to begin with. Now that I think about it I do hear a very faint but distinct sound of a heart beat every 30 seconds coming from Lucy. Any back on track, ghost interjects before anyone else can.
"We all want to have a bath with you of course!" ghost
"Well that fine I guess" jack
It was a very eventful shower. I gained several stats points, a new stat, and three new skills. I gained the stat flexibility as well as the skills sexual prowess, triple stab, and caress. Flexibility makes me more flexible, simple as that. Sexual prowess makes me better at pleasing my partner. Triple stab, as I would find out latter, is an attack skill that allows me to attack three times for every attack when using a piercing weapon. Caress basically makes me better at petting people and animals. And the three ex-virgins and one happy man head down for breakfast.
"Glad you could take time out of your schedule to join us for a meal" Joe
"Gotta eat, plus I love pancakes" jack
While we eat breakfast I decide to do an experiment with something that's been bugging me, telepathy. Why haven't I gained the telepathy skill yet? I think it's because I’ve only gone on premade paths when communicating with people mentally. So I try to stretch my mind out to jacobe in the same way that I stretch my mind out to ghost and Johanna when I talk telepathically with them. It takes a bit and it's mentally straining but eventually I manage to do it.

skill obtained: telepathy
'sup jacobe' jack
I smile as I watch him drop his fork, which was half way to his mouth and full of food.
"whets wrong bro" sally
jacobe just stares at the place where his fork was.
"sup jacobe" jack
as soon as I say that everyone looks at me, most of them have a look of confusion on their faces, but jacobe looks at me with a look of apprehension.
"so that was you" jacobe
"yup, just got the telepathy skill" jack
at this mr smith dropped his fork, which was half way to his plate trying to pick up more pancake.
"did you just say telepathy?" mr smith
"yes, I did. it is actually pretty easy to get, assuming you have communicated with someone telepathically before." jack
"but how?" mr smith
"I guess it's like flexing a muscle you weren’t aware of previously, if you’re aware of it is much easier to flex than if you aren’t aware of it. “jack
mr smith seems to ponder this for a time. we start eating again and after a while I hear banging on the other side of the front door. no one reacts to this so I just continue eating until I hear banging on the other side of the kitchen door. when it opens up I see a scar faced man, he is pretty burly but when I check his level it is only 3. I check his stats, I figured out how to do that when observe ranked up, and notice that all of his stats are extremely low, except his strength and vitality which were well above average.
"Joe you deal with this one" jack
"huh, why me!" Joe
"because I believe that you can take care of him" jack
"you just want me to kill him, don't you?" Joe
"if that’s what it takes" jack
"why don't you do it then?" Joe
"because I’m eating, besides if you don't want him to die you want to do it yourself. I would kill him in a heartbeat, just cause he's human filth that disturbed my meal." jack
at the particular nasty way I said that last part everyone, even the level three bandit who until that point had been frozen in place, look at me with confusion(except ghost of course)
"hah, little kids like you can't touch an adult like me." bandit
ok now he was really pissing me off, if Joe doesn’t do anything I am going to butcher him alive.
"Joe, if you want this man to live much longer you might want to knock him out" jack
"fine" Joe
"what can a child like you do to--" bandit
he was cut off by having his leg cut off, with a rather heavy hatchet swing. surprisingly it doesn't bleed, I think Joe used some healing magic on him to cauterize the wound. surprise at having his leg cut off caused him to faint.
"impressive" jack
he just glares at me.
suddenly another guy comes in looks at Joe, then at the man on the ground. he then starts to shriek like a little girl while pissing himself.
"shut him up will you" jack
"I’m not your slave." Joe
even though he says that Joe bashes him on the head with the flat of his hatchet.
after I finish eating I go over and search the bodies. after a minute or two I find what I’m looking for, a knife. it's poorly made and not properly balanced but it will do its job.
"well let’s head out, to your house Joe, right?" jack
"yeah, I guess" Joe
End chapter 17

Aspect of the Beast
This story is being rewritten! The new version, A Price in Memory, can be found here. I highly suggest you read the new version as this one won't be completed. He died for the only thing he truly cared about, his family. In a different world a talented mage completes his life’s work, an entire rebuilding of one of the greatest ancient spells, resurrection. Bypassing the stringent requirements, he attempts to make this great magic accessible to the masses, and by doing so earn his place in history. But lost to the passage of time is the reason for these requirements. Not to unnecessarily complicate this great magic, but to ensure the transfer of only mortal souls. For there are things that dwell in the realm of the dead that should never be allowed to cross over.

Immovable Mage
What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation awes everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. Terry loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a family. Terry starts to train as a pure mana cultivator but never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork… Until finally, Terry’s perseverance earns him a single spell – the only spell he will ever be able to cast. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. Further Arcs are still in the sketching and idea collection phase.

Elizabeth, Elizabeth
An astroid miner encounters pirates attempting to commandeer his processing ship, Elizabeth, while he was away responding to other miner's mayday. The miner (Jeffrey Sokolov) and his Artificial Intelligence (Elizabeth - both the ship and AI were named after Jeffrey's late wife,) outsmart the pirates, capture them and bring them back to the Earth/Moon station - where they attempt to turn them over to the Naval ship, Wanigan. However Wanigan is in the process of mutiny. The executive officer of Wanigan sends a small squad of Marines under command of a petty officer. The petty officer realizes an opportunity, convinces Sokolov to join her cause, and together with the AI (Elizabeth) re-take the Navy ship, and restore her captain to command. In order to perform these acts, Sokolov and the ship Elizabeth are drafted into Navy Reserve. The captain of the Navy ship Wanigan re-recruits Jeffrey to act in a secret capacity, he is given an almost unlimited credit, the squad of Marines that came aboard to arrest Jeffrey, and the petty officer. Piracy and corruption are overly common, but Jeffrey, his team and his AI defeat the enemy, only to have it resurface shortly afterward. Aliens from several surrounding regions have found Earth and the solar system to be a rich source of mineral wealth. They secretly tried to manipulate humans to doing their will, and Jeffrey discovered that they were the organizers and force behind the piracy. Jeffrey and the navy take on the new menace, but new tools, including faster-than-light travel become available. Jeffrey and Elizabeth improve on the Navy's technical innovations, incorporate alien technology into their ship, and continue to dominate the region infested with aliens with somewhat superior and somewhat inferior technology. This is the saga of a technically sophisticated man, his smart and loyal artificial intelligence, and the people he surrounds himself with.
