《This Game We Call Life》chapter 60: the damned

chapter 60
i start heading east, towards the damned faction. i don't particularly want to recruit them, most of them are probably completely insane anyway, i have a different goal in mind. it takes me about 10 minutes to reach their boarders, which is surprisingly unguarded. it comes to my mind that aunty's vacation home is in this area, this section is almost entirely residential so it would be the most defensible location, especially as the very foundation is protected against damage by magic. i start to head towards the house, making a huge commotion and killing or maiming every creature i come across. eventually somewhat organized groups begin to form to attack me, which is amazing considering the fact that most dungeon bound damned end up running on almost entirely instinct, such as follow the most powerful creature, and obey the dungeon.
when i get to the house i find a bunch of mid to high ranking creatures, all of which appear to be guarding the building. peering through the window i see a very familiar face, someone i have killed countless times, litty. he appears to be in charge of the place, and appears to have gained a Fair amount of int and Wis as well as an evolution. in spite of his recent power bonuses i could still easily kill him, even with his undead. he has a respawn rate of 2 hours, just enough time for this to work.
i run in, slitting the throats of a couple dozen creatures along the way. i open the doors, nicely as i don't want to damage aunty's house more than it already is, and kill everything in the room with some well placed water spears before moving to the room where litty is and cutting his limbs off one by one, making sure he sees my face and knows whats happening.

"if you want revenge, come get me at central park when you revive." jack
I cut his head off and watch it roll across the floor, of course he'd attack, i made sure of that. being able to manipulate emotions has its perks.
i run back to the meeting place for the peace talks, it had only been about 25 minutes from start to finish for that whole attack, perfect for me. that gives me 25 minutes to manipulate the negotiations the way i need to.
seeing as i got here early i begin to meditate, it's been quite a while since i meditated last, although anytime i enter someone else's mind could be considered a form of meditation, just not as restful as just meditating. while meditating i observe my own mind and soul, what i find is rather interesting, the bounds that combine the mind and soul are much fewer in number, 100s instead of 1000s, but they are much stronger and more elastic. it seems like it would take a lot of work to break even one of these bonds, and it would explain how I'm able to separate into two different bodies without any negative effects.
while i was meditating time went by and noon came, everyone was here and ready to begin negotiations. i stand up and take my seat between two opposing tables with representatives on either side, for the army it is the generals and a few high ranking officers, for the mafia it is the boss, his second wife, who is amazing at negotiations, and a few other high ranking men and women.
"well, let us begin" jack
I'll spare you the details, it was rather boring. who gets what and other meaningless crap, like two people filing for a divorce. a couple times I had to deescalate the situation. getting close to the 25-minute mark the negotiation where heating up again, this time I let it. after it devolves into full-blown screaming contest I step in.

"shut up all of you. I think that both sides should embrace what they, or at least the leaders, already know, that the one that's really in charge is me." jack
this is met with two very different responses, from the mafia it is met with cheers, much to the surprise of the army people who meet it with obvious anger.
"who the fuck do you think you are? showing up out of who knows where and claiming that you own us." burly army guy
"I don't own you, your not slaves, I'm just the man that owns the army your a part of, or would you like to stand up here and prove me wrong?" jack
"I'll do just that." burly army man
the man stands up and pulls out a wood chopping ax, and he seems to know how to use it pretty well.
"wait." jack
"what's wrong? chickening out?" burly army man
"shh, just listen." jack
"I'm not going to fall for that one." burly army man
"just listen." jack
after a second of silence the man, and everyone else here, hears the footsteps of the approaching army.
"better idea, instead of beating you up why don't I take out the entire opposing faction right now to prove how much better I am than you." jack
"with what? your bear hand? I'd like to watch you die fruitlessly in the attempt." burly army man
"among other things, although I'll probably be relying mostly on these." jack
I pull out my win daggers and begin running up to the mass of tangled bodies that vaguely represents an army. to sum it up in few words, it was a blood bath, every swish of the wrist, every time I attacked with the dagger, at least a dozen fell. they are pretty weak after all, if they were more organized they could pose a threat but as they are now they are nothing to me. in a matter of 15 minutes they were all dead.
"any complaints?" jack
when no one spoke up the boss and the generals started laughing.
"so this was what you were after! you wanted to show everyone who was in charge with out any doubt." cath
"looks like I picked wisely, I knew you were intelligent." jack
"so what now?" boss
"I expect a full integration of both factions by the time I return from a rather personal trip" jack
of course no one questions this as I don't want them to. they all just accept that I'm in charge.
"how are we supposed to do that?" Mathew
"simple, defeat dungeons together. They're all weekend because of that little show just now so you should be able to destroy them easy enough." jack
"won't they just respawn?" cath
"not if you take the core out, it's always located in the last boss room of a dungeon." jack
"that could work actually, no better form of bonding than through war." Mathew
"naturally I'll expect daily updates from you about how development is progressing" jack
"will do" boss
"the train wouldn't be running yet, would it?" jack
"actually a couple of my boys fixed the station up just the other day, a train should be coming to town in about an hour actually" boss
"perfect I'm going to need a ride as far east as possible" jack
"that can be arranged" boss
"then without further ado." jack
end chapter 60
I bet none of you were expecting litty to come back, don't worry you might just see a little more of him.
