《A Technomaniac in Another World (Prototype)》Extra Chapter - What the Master Likes
Advertisement
We do not know what pleases our Master. And worse, we can’t seem to be attractive enough to him. We talked before, and our Master only see reliability, not someone of the opposite sex. I wish he could give me attention, like a real woman.
For the many things our Master does, we are only useful in combat. Kasumi-san can’t cook, since she’s a Fox-Spirit. Amara-san, has only… body… I wished I could be that attractive. And me… I… Only know how to fight.
That’s why! I asked the Sheikh, if when I finished the Translation of the things that were found at the ruins, if I could learn how to cook, and take care of the kitchen by myself. He allowed, since… I don’t know, he didn’t wanted to make Kenji-Sama an enemy.
“What that has to do, anyway?”
“Oh! You’re the one the Sheikh sent a message. So! You’re Lucy, am I correct?”
“YESH!” I fumbled!
“Oookay… So? What do you want to learn? Only how to cook? I’m afraid that’s hard to teach someone, who has only be invested on Battles.”
“Ugh! I… know… But Kenji-Sama does everything for us… He makes food, our weapons, everything! I want to be useful other than in battle too!”
“Well, you sure have the will to learn.” He said, half-impressed. “Anyway, what you want to make to your Master?”
“Eh?”
“What? Don’t tell me…” He frowned. “You don’t even know what he likes?”
“I-I know!”
“SO?”
“Ugh!”
I only knew Kenji-Sama drinks that hot, black drink… what was it? Coffee?
“He likes a certain… drink?”
“Beverage.”
“Eh?”
“If you gonna learn from me, you gonna call it like that.”
“Beve?”
“Beverage.”
“Be-ve-ra-ge.”

“Very good. It’s hot or cold?”
“Hot.”
“Is it tea?”
“No. He called Coffee.”
“That black, bitter, strange drink?”
“Beverage.”
“Hunh. Good one.” He was surprised for real now. “So, he likes that? How he drinks that stuff?”
“Uhmm… He usually adds a few spoons of sugar. Says it gets more easy to drink. But he also drinks without it.”
“Sugar… Of course, it is too bitter!”
“What is it?”
“How does he prepare it? If I may ask…”
I exemplified the way Kenji-Sama always made his coffee.
Usually, Kenji-Sama uses some different type of paper, on top of some type of… cone thing. Then he puts the powder coffee, that he grinds from the beans. And adds hot water on that.
“That simple, huh?”
“He bought it as beans though. I don’t know how he makes it powder.”
Later on, I would discover that he used to idiotically smash the beans, making powder like that. But that’s for another time.
“Grinding them into powder is of no problem. Yes, I can try it making too.” He started bringing things, even the same paper Kenji-Sama uses. “What you doing stopped as a stone there? You’re gonna help too! Come on!”
“Eh?”
“You really are slow, huh? You gave the entire order, why wouldn’t you understand how he makes it? Come on!”
And I stayed an entire afternoon, only brewing coffee. The chef also thought me how to brew some teas, that promoted some good effects. After all, Kenji-Sama always stays awake at night, creating things.
He said he has the skill [Exhaustion Immunity], but didn’t knew why sometimes he collapsed out of nowhere. Not until Yuki-Sama told him why, before coming to the dunes.

(Why you collapse everytime? Even having the Skill?)
“Yeah. I’m curious about that.”
(That’s because of your body.)
“What?”
(No matter the skill you might have, if your body is still developing, like yours, then it needs sleeping.)
“But… The skills doesn’t cancel that?”
(Think about it: Would you allow a child to do so? If the child is already used to it, then the skill will enter in action. The same for you. You need to get used to the skill. Using over and over again. I wouldn’t recommend though.)
“Not safe?”
(Yes. Kasumi, keep an eye on him.)
And she asked me to also stay aware of that. I also learned a few dishes, specially those that Kenji-Sama did. Like the meat and that rice, he prepared from before. Kenji-Sama said that simple, is better.
“I never thought that someone would use such strange grain.” The chef was thoughtful. “Although, I guess some heroes of the past did left some recipes.”
Oh, the ‘Heroes’. Kenji-Sama got pissed at them for that. He said that new recipes are the best, instead of the usual. That’s why Kenji-Sama goes from city to city, and always go out to the restaurants, when visiting a new city.
After that, I brew some tea and coffee, bringing it to the Sheikh. I wished I could get some clothes to this, instead of this armor.
“Hm… This is delicious… What is this black beverage?”
“It is coffee.”
“Coffee? That bitter beverage, became this good?”
“Well, me and the chef tested some ways to sweet the taste.”
“And this is?”
“We tested with honey, sugar, and agave. This one is agave nectar.”
“It is not bad. Thank you very much.”
I smiled with that. I don’t know how to cook everything, but I can make Kenji-Sama coffee better now!

The Shadows Become Her
A fantasy progression, a coming of age story, and a tale of revenge... Alvixia "Vix" Altorelli's idyllic childhood is disrupted in one tragic night when the duke's fanatics ransack the Altorelli home and imprison the rest of her family, selling them into slavery across the ocean. Vix soon finds herself fleeing for her life and her freedom, fleeing to the faraway city of Floria on an island ruled by the mysterious Nurass, Prince of Shadows. In Floria, Vix's sharp mind and talent for magic land her a spot at the Perdita Free Collegium, the world's greatest school for spies, saboteurs, swashbucklers, seductresses and, some claim, practitioners of dark magic... and that suits Vix just fine. If the Collegium wants to give Vix the tools she needs to save her family and get her revenge on Duke Orso, she'll take that deal any day of the week and twice on Saintsdays, even if that means making a deal with the Prince of Shadows himself. This is Vix's tale. Author's Note: Now that Writathon 2022 is over, updates will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays!

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.
