《Project Felia》Volume 3 Chapter 9 - The Escort

I was talking to Celia alone at the restaurant in a backroom.
“Show me”
“Huh?”
“Show me your arm”
I took of my T shirt.
Celia noticed all the scars I had on my body from the other world, she paused but didn’t
comment it.
The blackness have spread from my heart area onto my left arm.
“Does it hurt?”
“It did at first, but not anymore.”
“How about now?” Celia held around it with her hands and squeezed.
“It’s like my hand has become stronger, I can feel your hands but it’s really faint, not in a numb way either.”
“We should find a healer”
“I don’t think a healer can heal this, take a look”
I showed her that I had no known disease, poison or wound on me.
“Then what is it?”
“I don’t know”
It got a bit silent as she was studying my arm.
“I get these visions”
“Visions?”
“Somehow this darkness makes me see things I don’t want to see.”
“Does it happen often?”
“That’s random, sometimes I get small gimps of..”
“Of?”
“Zane.”
“Zane?”
“I know it’s not really him, but he is a physical manifestation of my fears and regrets, whatever it
is inside my head, it’s playing tricks, but I won’t let it get to me.”
“You have to stop blaming yourself for what happened, it’s not your fault”
There was a short pause.
“What if we helped them fight back? We were their best gun men, we could hav--!”
Celia slapped me, then gave me a hug.
“Its true Zane died to save me, but you also saved me, remember?”
What is she talking about, I was shocked.
“I was so blinded with anger and fear back then I couldn’t think straight, you got me out of there, safe. I am here with you like always because of that.”
“Thank you, Celia” Celia slowly backed off from holding her hands around me from the hug.
“Let’s head back out shall we? They are probably waiting for us.”
I kept looking at my left hand.
“Yeah, I be right there”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After we finished up at the restaurant we noticed a billboard of quests as we were heading out, there was an escort mission, with a high exp reward.

“Hey, check this out” I ripped down the poster
“What’s that?” Elisa came over to me.
“Escort this person to the next check point, it says”
“That’s where we are headed is it not?” Odin stumbled over to us.
“Fits perfectly, let’s do it”
There was a disfigured man lurking in the shadows, sneaking around Sky and his friends.
“The exit is over there guys, good luck!” Emily and Bruce waved at us.
“Thanks Emily! Hope we meet again one day! Farewell!” we waved back as we left for the big
open iron gate.
The mysterious man was following, slithering after them.
“Be careful out there, the weather has turned for the worse”
There was a guard keeping his post.
“Ohh wow, you are not kidding!” the wind almost knocked Cortez off his feet.
We were standing in front of the gate, the wind was screeching and the rain drops felt like hail,
nothing I am not used to though.
“Call this a storm? Pfft” Celia went out first, not hesitating at all”
“Argh, u cocky bastard” Cortez was mumbling as he lowered his head, put his hands in his
pockets and followed while he spat on the ground.
The rest of us followed.
We were walking through the storm when we noticed a small shack, which was where the guy we
were supposed to escort was located.
“Just a little bit longer” Celia and I was in the front, the others had some problems keeping their
feet on the ground.
“Cortez, don’t tell me this is exhausting for you? I remember you telling me you fought a 2
headed bear with your bare hands during a storm!”
“You never told me that Cortez!” We could tell that he had lied, but it was funny to play with him.
“Yeah well, I don’t always brag about my adventures, I could walk backwards if I wanted to”
“Do it then!” Elisa tempted Cortez
“humpf!” Cortez turned around, planted his feet firmly in the muddy ground as he proceeded
walking backwards.
“See? No probleeeh!” His furry leather cape was blown over his head by surprise and startled
him as he slipped on the mud.
“You alright Cortez?” Odin went over to help him up.
“Bleh, yack! Just as planned!” He spat out mud from his mouth as he stood up all by himself

even though Odin had his hand stretched out.
We had our giggles as he wiped off his muddy cloths.
We got to the shack and entered the door.
There was a guy standing in front of a barrel fire.
“Are you guys my escort? *Sigh*”
“We will keep you safe sir” Celia was the one speaking to him.
“Well, well, can’t be helped, guess you guys will do, just make sure I get to the next checkpoint
unscratched, I got some private information I need to deliver, and call me Gavin”
“Can you tell me?”
“Don’t you get what private means? You stupid fish eyed jock!”
“Fish eyed? Jock? Me?” Cortez pulled up his sleeves.
“Let it go big guy” Odin held him back.
“Well what are you guys waiting for? Get your fingers out of your buts! Especially you, sweet
cheeks”
He was pointing at me, insulting me, but I didn’t really care, he is just a NPC, probably
programmed to be a douchbag.
We headed out, by all of our surprise Gavin was the one in front.
“Aren’t you guys supposed to protect me? Try to stand in a circle formation around me, don’t you
know anything?”
Everyone speed up and formed a circle around Gavin.
“That’s more like it, try to keep up with me, I’m not even moving fast”
“Yes sir!”
“Back in my days I was the worst in my class when it came to running, guess times have
changed huh?”
“Seems so, you might be old but you are quick on your feet!” Odin trying to complement him.
“Old? Who are you calling old you little rat! If I had to choose to be you or 10 years older, I would
have gladly accepted 20 years.”
“Are you sure you could survive as a 120 year old man?”
“What is that supposed to mean, fish eyes?”
“Did you also happen to be the worst in math too?”
Gavin got so angry and red he couldn’t answer, I tried to hold my laugh so hard, but a little laugh
slipped out, but quickly managed to hold the laughter back again.
“See? I made Sky laugh!”
Celia smiled.
“Hey look over there!” I noticed something in the distance.
It was a wolf pack, no wait, 3 wolf packs!
“Let me see what you guys are made off!” The old man just sat down on the ground with his
arms and legs in a cross.
“Hey wolves, come and get some of this fresh young meat!” Gavin was taunting the wolves.
They came running straight at us, all of them!
“There is at least 20 of them!
“Cortez drink this!” Eliza gave him a potion that makes time move slow for him.
“Odin!”
“Got it! Endless rage!” Odin ran in with no fear, slashing up some wolves, but even with his
amazing speed and power the wolves could take hits!
“Let’s back him up Sky!” Celia and I reappeared behind all the wolves and started slashing away
the once in the back.
Cortez finished drinking, then he activated his flaming arrows!
The arrows came flying, but for us the duration only lasts for 5 seconds, while for him it last 20
seconds, because times moves much slower for him.
When the wolves sniffed up me and Celia we used our Cooldown ability, which is to get invisible
during combat!
The wolves quickly went back to target Odin and Cortez, but one Wolf slipped by and charged
the old man sitting on the ground!
“Not so fast!” Elisa threw a gooey flask on the ground to slow the wolf down.
“Cortez!” Elisa threw a flask in the air that Cortez shot and all the gooey dropped ontop of the
wolf snaring him in goo, the wolf was not able to move!
The potion duration on Cortez ended, Celia and I went over to Odin to cover him as his Endless
rage ended, ironically.
Odin was so dizzy from the side effect that he slipped on the ground.
Elisa went over to him and dragged him back to the old man.
“Even I have more fuel in me than that, pathetic!”
Gavin was insulting Odin, but he was too exhausted to care.
We finished of the rest of the wolves, while gaining a lot of exp.
Suddenly we could hear a bark!
The wolf covered in goo had managed to get out, because of the rain!
The foul beast was just about to bite Gavin as Odin leaned over and let his arm get bit instead.
I finished it off with a dagger through the skull.
“You all right?”
“Just a scratch” Odin fainted from exhaustion.
