A large beast came barreling down the hallway towards them. Otis, terrified by the ear-splitting roars, started to bolt in the opposite direction, but was intercepted by Mariah. Flashing a devilish grin she threw Otis back and kicked the supplies down the hallway.
Correy and I ran toward the supplies and started to move fast with them and Mariah close behind us. As for Otis. His dying screams combined with the sound of tearing flesh was heard behind us.
Soon after the sound stopped and the roars continued to follow us. Jack didn’t know how long he ws running for but he knew that if he stopped for even one second then he wouldn’t live to see this movie end.
He felt the roaring getting closer and closer, and a bad premonition sounded in his brain, Jack screamed out “Go, get out of here” And with a push he sent the duo flying forward while he deployed a shield behind him.
Claws raked the shield and it went back a bit but it kept advancing forward. Jack narrowly avoided it but was still grazed by the beast.
Spirit essence gave him a rough outline of the beast. It was a bipedal creature with fur, sharp claws on hand, fangs like daggers lining the jaw, feral black eyes that scanned the darkness.
The beast swung its claws again and Jack stopped the claws with his vector ability but he could feel his energy draining from him. If this battle didn’t end soon he would be done for, and Jack knew that he had no killing method available to him. Another claw another deflection, but without even realizing it Jack was sent flying.
Jack was confused on what had happened, and when he crashed into the wall he felt something break. Dazed and in pain Jack could only look up at the beast towering over him.

The beast growled and lunged forward aiming for the throat and Jack closed his eyes.
In the instance that the beast lunged and Jack closed his eyes shut. A gunshot rang out and a wail from the beast was heard. After that multiple gunshots was heard and Jack decided to open his eyes.
The beast that was towering over him was now running at speeds that were inconceivable to the human eye. Another shot and something whizzed past Jack’s head and the death-screams of the beast was heard in the distance.
“Hey you okay?” someone spoke to Jack and he felt it was very familiar.
Turning his head in the dimmed hallway he saw two familiar faces, one was of concern and the other one was smiling haphazardly. “Danny, Emily?” Jack exclaimed in disbelief and Danny nodded his head. “Yep it’s us, come on let’s take you home”
Danny picked up Jack and noticed the wounds, raked across the arm and chest, alongside broken spine and legs.
“Emily deploy Shenfield, we need eyes right now” Danny asked and Emily nodded four spheres rose from her satchel and they took off.
“I have about 3 hours of energy in them, make this quick” Emily said and Danny nodded before taking off in a run.
Emily followed close behind and she turned toward Jack “You’re going to be alright, you’re safe now, we will protect you, don’t die on us, don’t……. don’t die on m…… “ she choked back her last words unable to say them and fell back a little.
Jack was curious on what she wanted to say but a sharp pain render him unable to comprehend anything and Jack blacked out.
Jack woke up in a bed.
Jack groaned in pain but felt better than the last time he was conscious. Jack moved his hand a little and found that it was obstructed by something large and turning to look he saw Abigail asleep and by his side.

Jack could only smile and he attempted to move, another sharp pain penetrated his sides and he let out a groan which awoke Abigail.
Abigail sleepily looked up and jerked back in realization. “Sorry, sorry I need to continue healing you” and then she took some water and ran it through my wounds, healing misplaced bones and the cuts from the fight.
“Its alright if you continue resting, I don’t mind.” Jack said quietly and Abigail paused for a second before continuing.
“What nonsense are you saying, you need to rest, can you quietly sit there for me” Abigail said quickly. Jack caught the blush on Abigail’s face and chuckled internally. But then the fight scene with the beast flashed to mind and he quiet down, thinking of ways he can improve his skills to compensate for his obvious lack of offense.
Jack knew that the vector ability can stop moving objects, it can also launch objects that are still. So far his C rank Vector ability only allowed him to momentarily stop objects while he could feel the flow in which they are moving. As for launching still objects or redirecting them he still needed practice.
Jack felt a bone pop back in place and he could feel his legs again. Jack signed in relief and Abigail stopped healing.
“Now what you need most is rest, just sit there and wait patiently, IF you want I can get you a book from the supply cache that you brought back, two weeks of food and water alongside books and minor entertainment.
Jack only nodded slightly and he felt himself fall into a deep slumber.
The next time Jack awoke Jonah was there waiting for him.
“You feeling alright?” Jonah asked Jack and he nodded.
“Good, we might need you to help clear this trials, I have held off on explain the Seven mysteries without you but everyone is getting restless, We lost two more in the days you were out and Emily is getting nervous again. “
Jack grew concerned and he got up. “If you need me for anything let me help, what are we dealing with?” Jonah sighed and got up “It’s best if I explain to everyone.”
Jonah and Jack left the room that Jack was in and noticed the sign “Class 5 Boy Dormitory [Safe Haven]” and Jack knocked on some of the doors and a few people came out. “Alright everyone we are having a meeting in the classroom and we need everyone to participate, it’s about the 7 Mysteries and how to clear them.”
A chatter rose from the crowd and once everyone assembled themselves in the classroom Jonah went ahead and revealed the book that Jack and Co. found.
“The 7 Mysteries include: Room in the Lockers, The Corpse Factory Hall, the Beast of the Fields, The Demon in the Sheets, The String Puppet of Class 8, the Metal Maniacs of the Gym and the last page was torn so we do not know the location or what we are up against.”
“Next to each is a word we must say to begin the challenge, and we cannot leave until it is beaten.
