《Nano Mage》Chapter 6 Magic tournament

I was unable to move from the numbness. It was not just the numbness preventing my movements. Mental shock was layered in as well. (Hadn't I been freed from this?) While I was wrapped up in a looping thought, Roaming Thunder continued her attack.
“Illuminate the earth beneath me., bring glass to it’s knees. Triple Lightning!” I could hear her reciting a spell. A bolt of lightning appeared above my head. The soil beneath my feet turned to glass, became purple, and than shattered as a bolt of lightning pierced through. As both bolts were heading toward me at the same time, a third one was forming from behind, the closer they got. The third bolt was arcing back and forth in a zigzag pattern. All at once they hit me.
In that moment it felt like I lost my whole body to frostbite. The numbness had been amplified by twenty fold. My screaming must have been as loud as that dragon’s roar. Every single eye of the would be students were focused on me. While thinking this I blacked out.
It goes without saying Roaming Thunder won the match. My next opponent was named Shadow Void. “I am Sylphire!” Like before I extended my hand. Unlike Roaming Thunder he grasped it firmly, shook, but when it came time to let go, he did something unexpected. I was pulled into an embrace. “What a powerful voice. You must be an amazing mage!”
Shadow Void
I suddenly heard someone screaming like a dragon. Everyone turned towards the source, myself included. What I saw was a striking young man. His hair color was a bit odd. Something similar to gold, but almost like it had been rusted. But his eyes were a color I have never seen before. A deep brown. Those eyes captivated me. That scream, would it be possible for him to learn song magic? Or does he already know it? If not one day I will guide him to the Siren continent. (I guess this is what you call love?)

Sylphire
(Is this some sort of culture thing?) It felt really awkward being embraced by a man. I have no interest in men. I am uncertain if I had any before, but after being experimented on by so many, having a man this close to me made chills run down my spine.
“Begin!” Shadow Void seemed to disappear in a cloud of black smoke. The moment he reappeared, hand constructed from shadows emerged from the center of the stadium. These hands inched closer and closer, almost like a centipede moving along the ground, fast, but creepy as fuck.
A tight pressure gripped my neck. One of the hands had caught me. The next hand made that pressure stronger. Though the pressure was intense, it could not compare to having your head bitten off by a dragon.
I unleashed aqua burst. Like the first time nine jets headed towards its target. Shadow Void had a strange expression take place at the base of his face. The expression was a combination of someone who had found a new toy, and some extremely horny old man. I looked at him dumbstruck.
When the jets of water grew close enough to him, a wall of shadow rose from below just in front of him. The jets momentum was stopped. Breaking from the impact, a pool of water now remained all over the stadium.
It just occurred to me, but if it was not for the nanobots, I would have been chocked to death. Which means Shadow Void would have been disqualified. I wonder if he knew how much force he was using?
Shadow Void
(What the hell was that amazing display?) Nine aqua burst at once, how can anyone do that? It is one thing if it was a custom spell, but this was obviously the basic aqua burst. No matter what it was not possible to customize basic spells. The strangest thing was not that. Normally my spell shadow arm would have caused the victim to fall unconscious by now, but no matter how much mana I poured in, he did not show the slightest discomfort. This amount was more than enough to kill an elephant. What the fuck, was one of his ancestors a dragon or something? Maybe that was it, after all that scream was as loud as one, if not louder.

I became excited from the prospect. (Wait, first I have to block those! After all a bunch of small things could lead to bigger things. I raised my spell shadow wall. If this keeps up I will lose. Time for my counter.
Sylphire
Once the wall of shadow came down, Shadow Void had an eerie grin on his face. A huge shadow formed above his head, growing bigger and taking on a certain shape. This was the shape of something I had seen up close the first time I felt a pain worst than that button. (A shadow dragon?)
The shadow dragon unleashed a flaming breath made of shadows. The flames landed behind me, forcing me to get even closer to Shadow Void. The shadow flames actually produced heat. Drops of sweat poured down my neck, as the scorching heat made it throb.
Even as I moved forwards, the hands covering my neck tightly held their grip. To add to that, smoke from the fire was causing me to cough violently. Heat from the outside, burning from the inside, and being choked from all ends. My neck was feeling pain from its very core. My vision began to blur, the next thing I knew I heard a voice. “The winner, Shadow Void.” If things continued this way, I would fail to get into the magic school.
“Do not lose to anyone else you hear?” It was Shadow Void’s voice. I need to beat seven other opponents, would they be as strong as the first two?

The Tower Trials
"The Towers have stood for centuries. They offer riches and power in equal measure to those that are brave, strong, and lucky enough to overcome their Trials. Isaac has arrived in time for the annual Novice Trial where young men and women aged 16 through 18 are set to enter the Tower for their first time. Novice Trials are a rite of passage, and though one is not required to take it, one cannot develop their Mana System without it. However, the trials are deadly, and there are always some that go in, but never come out. Regardless of the danger, Novice Trials are required for entry into any of the four grand academies. Those that survive the trials are able to gain experience and level-up as they ascend the different floors of the Towers." The Tower Trials is my first attempt at writing. Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
