《Nano Mage》Chapter 12 Territory

Three weeks have past since the start of the field trip. Our cooperation has improved vastly. It has come to the point were we can use fusion magic. My Sharp rocks combined with Shadow Void’s Shadows are a force to be reckoned with. Speaking of forces to be reckoned with, when Roaming Thunder combines her lightning with Silver’s ice magic, it creates a force that will likely stop all things from moving. We have coined the spell Numb strike.
Currently the young laddies were bathing. No matter how long you spend in the wild, people can not stand the sensation of sweat for prolonged periods. I am currently standing guard, these young woman seem to trust me. The only problem for us is Roaming Thunder. About every five minutes she would leave the bathing area and hug me from behind. Without putting any clothing on her wet nude body would touch me. It took the other girls a long time to pry her away. It is not that I did not like having a young naked woman embrace me, but I was a gentleman, and she was soaking wet, leaving my clothing drenched were she touched.
The gathering of food went well. We stored our water in glasses Silver had constructed from ice. Edge had created metal gloves for us to hold those glasses. Since mana constructed object did not normally break down quickly, these two things lasted at least a few days. Even under the intense heat.
“Is it my imagination, or has it been getting hotter these last few days?” Autumn was the one to bring this up. Thinking about it, it seemed she was onto something.
For the last two weeks we had been heading north. Rain had caused the river to rise, making our current campsite uninhabitable. The Rain finally stopped two days ago. We all knew with the rain it should not be this hot. To top it off, we were getting closer and closer to a mountain top. If anything the temperature should be declining, not rising. We all got the feeling that something important had slipped our minds.

“Do you think there is a mine deposit in the depth of that mountain?” Shadow Void suddenly asked a strange question. “Do you mean like with gold?” I asked in response. “Maybe, but I meant more like one containing magic ores.” “What are magic ores?” Everyone gave me a look like I was an idiot. “Like he would know Shadow Void.” Roaming Thunder then pointed out the fact I was from the Mythic continent. I have no way to refute that, after all I can not really tell them I am from another world. Lately it keeps slipping my mind, I have trillions of small robots inside me. It is unlikely that that goldfishes poison would have done anything to me, even if it had, those robots would likely cure me.
A loud screeching sound causes everyone to stop in their tracks. I feel like I heard this somewhere before. Everyone looks up at the mountain. “Shit we forgot!” Edge’s words causes everyone’s face to become pale. We forgot the most important rule of survival. Avoid dragons domain.
Our hearts were racing frantically. We could no longer escape. “So we are going to die together!” Silver’s words did not give anyone here comfort. “No, we will beat it!” What was I saying. I would likely be able to return either way, but after living with them for a few weeks I could not let anyone here die. “We have been practicing combination magic for the last few weeks, it is our best bet to come out of this alive!” Everyone nods.
“Autumn use tracking magic in case it decides to flee later. If it flees, we do not wish to encounter it again.” “Got it!” I was giving out orders. When had I become the groups leader? “Silver, Roaming Thunder, use Numb strike on its wings.” They both give a thumbs up. “Shadow Void, we will use our combination magic to nullify its breath magic.” Edge was looking my direction. “Edge create a cannon with your weapon magic. Autumn create large boulders to place in his cannons. Aim for its stomach.”

Autumn’s tracking spell did not take long to set up. When the numb strike hit its wings, the dragon fell from the sky. As it set up for it’s breath attack the head of the dragon was knocked back with sharp rocks guided by shadows. I nearly wet myself when I seen the type of breath attack it would use. We were currently fighting a lightning dragon. It screamed out in agony as the cannons fired at its stomach.
In desperation it began to swipe its claws around. I could feel a throbbing pain in my arm. It had scratched me. I was angry, the next time it swiped at me, I grabbed it’s arm and began twisting it. The dragon began limping away. I ran forwards and then kicked its face, a huge dent was left on its cheek. It brought its teeth towards my head. Everyone was screaming, the most scary thing about dragons was having your head bit off. I pulled the teeth one by one. Tears were filling the dragons eyes. Blood and drool were falling everywhere. I grasped the dragons neck with my two hands, and then pressed them down hard. The dragon fell to the ground.
Just like that I killed my first dragon. My group still seemed afraid of something. “It is okay the dragon has been defeated.” Everyone looks at me and then back to the dragon. “Sylphire just what are you?”
