I stared blankly at the probably useless letter and package that was dropped off at my doorstep and carried into my room without my consent by some hunky ripped-out dudes that immediately left and gone with the wind.
I was kinda pissed thinking the developer just randomly picked me and the other individuals by means of a huge dartboard with a huge list of people stuck on it, whoever's name was pierced with a dart was automatically sent a copy of their game, and letting their employees barge-in and leave without so much as a word should at least be sent to jail for breaking and entering, they didn't even ask for a signature, well at least that's what I think.
Now I know all of you are probably thinking: Why are you such an asshole over such an awesome thing!
It's not that I don't think it's cool but I have this "condition" that renders me incompatible with virtual reality games that usually rely on analyzing our brain and registering our persona's blueprint so that other people can't hack or mess up our account, my condition is having split personalities, and the problem per se is that the program registers my persona then detects another and rejects my other self, therefore blocking the game from me until my other self is out of the way.

The LUCID PODS were made for only one person and one registration, after imprinting your genetic make-up into the program, the pod then answers to only the one recorded and will exempt any other transactions from unknown genes, it was because of this feature that gamers could play without worrying about someone hacking into their account or parents from tampering with their pods.
I know i was suppose to be excited and jumping for joy, but this was just a waste to be giving all this to someone who can't even use it, I was about to call the number printed on the letter when something on the pod caught my eye, another envelope that was carefully placed inside the glass cover of the pod with the words [READ ME] stamped on it in 'Magneto' font.
The pod opened with air released as the double door fashioned glass cover welcomed me with open arms, btw the airlock is automatically removed after it is first opened, airlock is only used for when it's in factory storage so the pod's interior won't deteriorate and be covered with dust.
The letter in the second envelope contains as follows:
Leoth Mucu,
You were not chosen randomly but chosen because of your adept skills known and recorded by your government in the Philippines, the same is with the other candidates from all over the world, and of course we've taken into account your split personality, as such we've added a little extra in the game so your other self could be registered as a personal guide/partner that would probably be added at the grand opening of the game, viewed as a mercenary that would help unlucky players to get back on track, of course for them it's only for a limited time, so what I'm asking is please try to finish the beta-testing phase first before you return both pod and game, call me after reading this to confirm wether or not you'll follow this old man's request

PS. Your 'friend' was the reason as to why I became interested in how you fare in my little game
I was both shocked and excited, my face was torn on which emotion would it display until it was saved and showed fear as I realized what the developer's letter meant by friend, it was the same person that vowed to create a VR that took me into account just so I wouldn't miss what she was always excited for. Yup it was a SHE, and someone who never broke a single promise, what made me afraid was that within a span of 3 years she somehow managed to manipulate the developer into investing an extra hundred thousand more money on that mere feature just so I could play.
Which meant 4 things.
She's fulfilled our promise.
She found a way to bypass my problem.
She's a GM
and last that made my skin crawl:
She's coming for me soon IRL or in game...
SHIT

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.

Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.
